Hello all! Welcome to any school staff looking to improve their diet/exercise in 2021!

Last year I lost 5 stone and my BMI dropped from 42 to 28. My aim this year is to drop another 2 stone to get into the 'normal' weight category and to improve my stamina with jogging.

Welcome all!Smile

I will not eat Lebkuchen, Quality Street and nuts today!

12,000 steps minimum
1800 calories (easing back in gently).

1.2 miles in 18 minutes done with a 9yo!
Didn't drink the wine last night, but did eat the chocolate Blush

Today I will not drink the wine, and only have 2 chocolate biscuits.... I have done the run

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 02/01/2021 10:00

I can't calorie count or go low carb (even though they both work brilliantly for me) as they tend to trigger an ED relapse.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 02/01/2021 10:00

I have a toddler who is a strict and scary boot camp leader 🤣

Came downstairs to rearranged yoga mats and inisting that I put my phone on to to "yoga" (the MUTU thing) and then proceeded to boss me about, crawl under my legs, become very territorial over who had which may, roar at his elder brother who was taunting him by placing one toe on toddler's mat and threw a tantrum when I paused it to make porridge for the eldest.

Think I managed 10 mins.

Surprised he remembered, haven't done it for 6 months!

HarrietDVane · 02/01/2021 10:01

Grocery shopping today. Planning to batch cook a load of stuff to eat during the week so I don’t fall at the first hurdle. There’s also the small matter of baking and decorating DD’s birthday cake but hopefully I will be able to show some restraint there. Might go for a walk later - no promises, mind you! Grin

Saucery · 02/01/2021 10:05

Weighed myself. Haven’t lost any, but haven’t put any on, am strangely miffed not to have lost any, even though I didn’t expect to.
Slow cooker veg curry for tea. Only biscuits I don’t like are left, hurrah!

Stepawayfromtheminirolls · 02/01/2021 10:27

I braved the scales this morning - 12st5. That puts my BMI at 29.5, so very close to obese. Although apparently a healthy weight for me is 10st6 (😂 haven't been that since uni!) I will be aiming for 11st. Hopefully chatting on this thread with you guys will keep me accountable!

phlebasconsidered · 02/01/2021 10:27

Thanks for the pretendy booze suggestions! Am off to google them now.

CountDuckulasCranberrySauce · 02/01/2021 13:27

I also drink gallons of tea and coffee, but I figure it's a good source of calcium Smile I do however need to cut out the sugar so next weeks target will be no sugar in hot drinks.

Monkeytennis97 · 02/01/2021 14:35

So far today 11,300 steps so am going to hit the 12k whoop!

Well, i've done 5km. I'll aim to get to 7km by pottering round the house and procrastinating. I still have not planned. Made 12 takeaway boxes of soup though. Spicy butternut, and spinach, leek and potato.

JanuaryChill · 02/01/2021 18:22

Did a little with a weight on my afternoon walk: I found a tripod type thing in its case which should have been delivered (by DPD Hmm) to the warehouse up the road but instead had been left in a field gateway! So I delivered it- but it was a bit heavy Grin

(The security guy didn't even say thank you!)

TheLuckiest · 02/01/2021 18:55

I went for a run today!!! Only did 2.5 miles but it's something.

And I'm signing up for Race At Your Pace again. It's the only thing that motivates me. Would highly recommend. You don't have to run...you can swim, walk, cycle. Whatever!!
I was doing 50 miles per month back in lockdown!! Not quite back up to that yet but have at least made a start.

GuyFawkesDay · 02/01/2021 18:59

Did 3.5km run today, easing myself back on after falling off the wagon. Did 19000 steps yesterday and 10000 today.

No booze (will hold out as long as I can!!)

Joined Team RH and am determined to smash it. Utterly horrified by myself if I'm honest. I'm the fattest I've ever been.

cacaboudin · 02/01/2021 19:02

Very poor effort from me today step-wise. I went out for a walk but it was freezing and sleety so came home again. Ate the last of my chocolates in an NEU zoom meeting, worried about what the right thing to do is then did a walking workout to try to take my mind of it for a while. On a positive note, I did a Fitness + strength workout and enjoyed it.

MrsHamlet · 02/01/2021 20:06

Teapigs do some very lovely teas - the fennel ones are surprisingly good.
I started well today. Downloaded the couch to fit app, but it was snowy sunny so I went for a walk. Just over 4 miles.... but I slipped on the ice and now I have a sore arse, sore back and sore pride.
And then I made choux buns out of pain and rage at the covid board lunatics. Delivered half next door.

JanuaryChill · 02/01/2021 20:23

Yes was thinking while I was out (-we've not had snow here), if we get the weather which is forecast that'll make my walking far more difficult. Means I might actually get round to doing more of my core exercises and some my lovely osteopath has given me too, though.

TheEchtMeaningofChristmas · 02/01/2021 20:29

I was on prolonged remote learning:seven months, went up two sizes and accumulated a host of back issues from too much sitting down. What I noticed is that during holiday periods the weight shifted on its own. Very slowly. I'm on summer holiday now and it's continuing to fall away.

I need to up my exercise though, as have bugger all core/glute strength.

HarrietDVane · 02/01/2021 20:30

Today has finished badly. I have fallen face first into the Christmas chocolate. Ffs. No willpower.

RigaBalsam · 02/01/2021 20:33

Snap! I keep reading that meme about starting Monday to console myself. 🙈
Saucery · 02/01/2021 20:34

I was given some really sickly gin but I am drinking it, watching Tom Allen and eating crisps.
I did attack an old sofa with a Stanley knife and a saw today, so that counts as exercise, right?

KatherineOfGaunt · 02/01/2021 20:56

Hello, I would love to join. I need help; currently probably at my heaviest ever weight and feeling very rubbish about it. I'm only about 5'1 but currently around 12st (don't want to weight myself, but I know) so BMI over 30.

I would like to get down to 9st. I will try this thread for support!

Have tried running before but feel it's hard to fit in with a toddler so trying to do walking instead, so at least I'm getting out. Forgot my Fitbit for today's walk though 🙄 but used Map My Walk and it was around 3/4 mile (with toddler).

I turn 40 this year so don't want to be fat and forty!!!!

HarrietDVane · 02/01/2021 21:05

Welcome, Katherine!

I'm glad I'm not alone with the chocolate situation. I've got DD1's birthday to contend with tomorrow as well. Monday is looking like a better start date!

NeurotreeWenceslas · 03/01/2021 07:43

I have a confession; I frequently have a few squares of 70% choc with my morning tea.

Frequently may be an understatement.

But I'm keeping that going as it's my actual therapy.

My main aim is to not repeat it several times a day (single handededly keeping a cocoa plantation somewhere going.)

Saucery · 03/01/2021 07:43

My FakeyFitBit has decided to stop working (had it years) so that’s handy for New Year activity resolutions. Have ordered a real FitBit which should arrive in the next couple of days.
Have you really done Steps if there isn’t a thing on your wrist to say you have done those Steps? 🧐
