You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

Sorry, I'm in Scotland so don't really understand the "week on, week off" thing. We have one school in our area being used a a hub and is staffed by volunteers, so the rest of the teachers in the area are running their online classrooms.

CallmeAngelina · 13/05/2020 13:36

Apparently, according to MNHQ, these are all legitimate threads discussing pertinent issues and I'm "welcome to join in the discussions and put a teacher's point of view.
Who knew?

Cantaloupeisland · 13/05/2020 13:36

Not even looking at AIBU or corona topics from now. Clearly no point engaging and it's not good for my wellbeing!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 13/05/2020 13:37

Schools can’t even contain a nit outbreak, not alone a new and largely unknown deadly virus.

callmeangelina I've told you a thousand times for enter the room in a calm manner!!

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/05/2020 13:37

Thanks staff!

No I'm not bothering. RL people aren't like this weird mn breed.

MossWalk · 13/05/2020 13:38

Hello all. I don't tend to post on TES as my username is my real name, may have to stick here until it becomes unbearable or I have no pals Grin

I would consider volunteering if it was paid and if we were still 100% online. I am not volunteering on top of classroom teaching.

Weekly day of torture tomorrow in the hub.

mumsneedwine · 13/05/2020 13:39

Hi. So many lessons today my eyes are going squiffy. I may have just told wingy parents on another thread that they seem to not have much work as they are on MN so much 😂. I miss the school banter so thought I'd try it on there. Hope everyone is well and smiling. Don't let the f*$>€^^ers get you down.

pinkrocker · 13/05/2020 13:40

Hi all. Placemarking for later!

BlessYourCottonSocks · 13/05/2020 13:45

Placemarking here, but not posting on mn any more. It's just unpleasant and bullying. Do you think MNHQ are all the queen bitches? They seem happy to allow teachers to be constantly attacked on thread after thread.

Asuitablecat · 13/05/2020 13:46

Can I go the toilet? I wasn't allowed lesson.

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/05/2020 13:49

Hello. Just checking in! I reported one thread and got put in my place.
Although I do agree that we need to be a little careful about discussing other threads as we could be talking about people who can’t reply.

AppleKatie · 13/05/2020 13:58

Checking in. Feeling exhausted and demoralised today.

RigaBalsam · 13/05/2020 13:58

A bit difficult from this selfish place apart from in here.

I have a range of mixed feelings about the schools going back; I'm very split and personally feel sick due to asthma, but I know my own pupils need to come back as have significant difficulties including behaviour needs.

But this was the virologist speaking yesterday on the bbc that the danish thread is all about and handily ignores.

phlebasconsidered · 13/05/2020 14:11

Me too Neuro. If i had an extra 10mg of montelukast i'd be on the list but as it is....

I'm petrified, tbh. I especially need the badly behaved children to not be in. The ones who spit, fight and think coughing is hilarious.

Cyberworrier · 13/05/2020 14:12

Checking in to the 5th. I saw that clip on twitter too, Neuro. I actually watched PMQ whilst doing my other job (part timer) and was so disgusted by Gavin whatsisname’s ignoring of all the MPs who asked about the proof that children don’t transmit. Just repeated himself over and over that their concern is for the children and their education. Coz obvs Reception desperately need to get in ASAP before their A-levels in more than twelve years time innit. And their education will be exactly what it should be with all the toys and sharing etc taken out of the equation. Grr.

WhyNotMe40 · 13/05/2020 14:22

I know there are some SLT on here - if there were to be a positive case amongst students or staff - would parents or staff be told? What is currently happening?

HedyPrism · 13/05/2020 14:23
NeurotrashWarrior · 13/05/2020 14:37

Cheers hedy, any decaf?

Phleb, as asthma is currently "clinically vulnerable" aren't you wfh? I think the Monday guidance stated that, or at least a different role in school.

oddsbodkins · 13/05/2020 14:39

Signing in.

Ventured out onto active a while ago, It's brutal out there.

In other news, after our dismal staff meeting yesterday, I was straight onto the union and have provisionally signed up to be a rep! Go me, eh? That'll teach 'em Grin

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/05/2020 14:39

Why, there was a serious incident and bereavement policy went out last week. I've skim read it and need to go back through more carefully; I focused more on the advice re supporting children actually.

It did outline what would be said etc and how.

Very somber reading.
