You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

Honey I can recommend corbettmaths for nice explanation videos to follow, which then give worksheets full of practice on each topic.
If you'd like a list of topics my school covers in Year 8 I'm happy to email you a copy of our sow (the overview page at least). We use the essential maths textbooks, and would probably have finished most of the appropriate book by the end of the year. So set 1 (and possibly 2) would cover the 8H textbook, Set 3 (and possibly set 2 actually) would cover the 8C textbook, and set 4 would cover the 8S texbtbook. I wouldn't be setting anything related to stem and leaf diagrams because it's not on the AQA GCSE any more, although it might still be on some of the other exam boards.
I personally don't rate Seneca for maths, as i didn't feel it gave enough practice on a lot of topics, but it might be better than what you're getting so far.

Oh my, TheHoneyBadger, the one where you choose the scenario that looks the least tedious then it makes you sit through the other one too? 🤦‍♀️

ChloeDecker · 13/05/2020 17:49

LolaSmiles your post as spot on as usual Grin

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 13/05/2020 17:50

@TheHoneyBadger

Don't forget they are also likely to be driving a 4*4 or something of that ilk just so little Giles can be safe as mummy is zapping to school and needs to brake sharply, blocking someone's drive, as he is dropped off.

They've basically just said that if your child misses early years they'll fail in life!

Talk about over simplifying an issue to fit an agenda. Angry

Piggywaspushed · 13/05/2020 17:57

See now Jenny H is on about little children again and travel to school. they REALLY don't think older children are back any time soon.

Honey they said volunteers and graduates.

One Mp suggested OFsted inspectors grin* >> that is beautiful RIga! Please god let me be a fly on the wall watching ofsted teach my year 9's.

I pm'd you earlier and haven't checked for replies yet.

Oh my, TheHoneyBadger, the one where you choose the scenario that looks the least tedious then it makes you sit through the other one too? Yes that sounds like it. That and several 1000+ safeguarding docs were emailed to us to read/watch and sign to say we'd received training in our own time. 'Cos that's not directed time is it?

Staff -@TheHoneyBadger Don't forget they are also likely to be driving a 44 or something of that ilk just so little Giles can be safe as mummy is zapping to school and needs to brake sharply, blocking someone's drive, as he is dropped off.* not that they live far away or she needs to be at work, she just can't possibly let giles walk to school yet will moan like crazy about school kids crossing the road unsafely by the bus stop they get off at or cycling kids coming to school from miles away into a bottle neck area crammed with cars because twats like her won't let their kids drive to school.

And breath Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 13/05/2020 18:06

I work at a village secondary with kids traveling from miles in all directions including public transport buses from town, at least 20 coaches a day from surrounding villages and suburbs. I also live in the village and walk to work and ds walks to school. On local pages I have to read those 4x4 yummy mummies complaining that kids crossed the road or cycled in the middle of a lane whilst in front of their 4x4 which was contributing to the traffic compression despite giles only living a ten minute walk from school. So your example resonates hence my rant lol

TrickyWords · 13/05/2020 18:07

I was in school today. To ensure safe distance we are down to six chairs in the staff room. We have over thirty TAs never mind teachers and other staff. 😂

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 13/05/2020 18:12

Not surprised to see who started the summer holiday thread

TheHoneyBadger · 13/05/2020 18:17

Is it Biscuit or the other one?

CallmeAngelina · 13/05/2020 18:38

As I said earlier, I've gone right off Biscuit so it's good for the old diet.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 13/05/2020 18:41

@TrickyWords - it means that the Staffroom will be more like musical chairs than ever before

@TheHoneyBadger - I now blank out Biscuit. (don't want to make Lily cross with us again though) . Some people need a full-time nanny so they can outsource the raising of their children.

Agree I think cream cracker has higher expectations as I am sure it will be for disagree and not a whole school situation as that would be unworkable with volunteers.

RigaBalsam · 13/05/2020 18:42

Disadvantaged not disagree

RigaBalsam · 13/05/2020 18:51

head teacher has sent parents a brutally honest letter warning them that social distancing in primary schools is impossible.
Howard Fisher, head of St George's Church of England Primary School in Sheerness, Kent, said he'd rather his pupils retake a year again than let one of them die.

The heartfelt message has been shared more than 15,000 times on Facebookk amid Boris Johnsonn 's plans to reopen schools from June 1, Kent Livee_ reports.
The Prime Minister told the nation this week he expected early years, Reception and Year 1 children to return to school from the start of next month.

NeurotrashWarrior · 13/05/2020 18:57

Christ that's a thread and a half. I think many are getting sick if that poster by the look of it. I smell a rat too.

TheHoneyBadger · 13/05/2020 18:57

Staff: Some people need a full-time nanny so they can outsource the raising of their children. They are would be Xenia's without the means to see it through but expecting public services to be their butlers and valets. At least she can put her money where her mouth is and doesn't expect it all to be handed to her for free. Good god - pro xenia? lol.

twinkletoesimnot · 13/05/2020 19:09

Sorry, see Cyberworrier had shared earlier.

bettybattenburg · 13/05/2020 19:14

I'm stepping off all the teaching threads and hiding the staffroom. It transpires that TAs aren't really welcome in the staffroom, or so I'm told. Solidarity - to 99% of you. The other 1% can fuck off.

RigaBalsam · 13/05/2020 19:17

What Betty? You are very welcome!

Barbie222 · 13/05/2020 19:17

Just seen the bbc have updated their article about union challenges to government, to say that the DfEs own scientific advisor has had no input into the decisions made around year groups. Shocking!

The Fifth Republic - safe space? Solidarity Comrades!
StaffAssociationRepresentative · 13/05/2020 19:31

@bettybattenburg - you are school staff so you are more than welcome. Of course you can have the toffee vodka (but you do need your own mug)

The other place offers rhubarb and ginger gin - yummy!
