Well, exactly. You tend to get roughly that number of people just going about their daily business on the average
high street.
They’ll certainly have a nosy at any commotion that seems to be happening, but the vast majority wouldn’t have deliberately turned out to flag wave.
How humiliating for them. When is the penny going to drop, I wonder?

I don't think the penny will ever drop. They are completely lacking in any ability for reflection or introspection.

The mere fact that they trundled back to 'salt island' to do a Poundshop version of the role they stormed out of 7 years ago, would be enough to humiliate most people. But not these two. They just don't get it and they never will.

Why would they your are mistaking your own jaundiced views to blind you to the truth that by modern royal standards this is a good turnout. Or at least as good as their supposed rivals WandK.

There is no rivalry.

You can’t compare Poundies with Dior.

It's a terrible turn out , they announced it over a week ago in the hopes of rallying the troops but it's a bunch of school kids in reality who were bussed in .
Also they are not royals , they are private citizens now.

Catherine & William don't announce their movements like the majority of high profile individuals who would be concerned for their security!

He also questioned why taxpayers should continue funding such a sprawling institution when ordinary households are struggling to make ends meet.

A question we might pertinently ask about the Lords with their daily rate of over £ 300 tax free without actually having to do anything.

The Sovereign Grant is £361,000 per day and the HofL as you well know is an important part of the unwritten British Constitution so essentially chcikenfeed.

AutumnCrowRidingThroughTheGlen · Today 12:00

It is isn't it - you would think they would ignore them and concentrate on bigging up the successes of the Institution but many seem to get unconstrained glee at poring down bile on this hapless pair as if they are channelling some sort of evil. As Justine rightly said it's unhinged.

Justine was just as likely referring to the Sussex Squad in that comment. She didn’t actually specify.

I have to agree. One day someone will sue. The optics are not good. Any moral high ground completely lost by such a stance.

A continued thread upon thread.
Mumsnet loses all credibility here.

Sue for what?

An opinion? Someone telling the truth?

Harry was taught from an early age that this is “work” when, patently, it isn’t. It’s simply self-justification for the enormous privileges the state bestows upon them. So I can’t blame him for doing what he was taught to do by the institution and “Pa”.

Lord Foulkes made an excellent contribution to this debate in the House of Lords yesterday, challenging the very idea that royal engagements automatically constitute real work. As he put it:
“That is not real work. It is not like a teacher who works five days a week or a nurse in a geriatric hospital who might be working a 12-hour shift.”

He also questioned why taxpayers should continue funding such a sprawling institution when ordinary households are struggling to make ends meet.
Perhaps the real question is not whether Harry is doing what he was taught to do, but why we continue to accept the institution’s own definition of “work” as justification for its extraordinary privileges.

What a load of nonsense. The King is the head of state. Every country has a head of state. In countries with a ceremonial head of state, the head of state performs social and charitable duties often aided by his/her spouse and sometimes children.

What a weird way to wriggle out of the question just what do Harry and Meghan think they're doing by having faux royal "engagments" when they are not working royals? Harry knows full-well the difference between a working royal because he grew up in an environment where there were not only working royals but non-working royals too. He is not a working royal, so he should stop faking it and accept the consequences of his actions.

Squad propaganda.

And it’s not like they haven’t spent the last few years trying to force the taxpayer to fund their security.

Hmmm. I'm just thinking of the PssoW's visit to Italy in the summer, when she was absolutely mobbed, in a much smaller place than Nottingham...

Harry''s crime being a bit thick and marrying a black American actress and deciding he's had enough of this farce. Take him down to the cells.

As is the monarchy - which predates the HoL by some 400 years.

50 Threads. I can't believe that @MNHQ are letting these mean spirited threads continue to run. It is a very sad (and racist) state of affairs. Shame on you

You may think it sad, and I do see why. However, I cannot see @MNHQ banning threads about Megan and Harry. Fans of theirs can post threads too. There are bitchy posts, there are posts looking at the bigger issues (impact on the monarchy, Harry's behaviour with charities etc) but I have seen no racist comments. Any that were posted would be removed. People here and generally dislike Meghan not because she is mixed race but for her role in trying to bring down the monarchy and her public criticism and dislike of Britain.

Typo

AutumnCrowRidingThroughTheGlen · Today 12:04

BunnyBunbunbun · Today 11:48

That's right, they do not represent the head of state or Britain officially in any way. What exactly are they doing, then? Which other celebrities or "public figures" do strings of "engagements" in this way? Why are they doing a faux royal-style walkabout? Why are they trying to link themselves to so many charities in ways that regular celebrities and "public figures" don't do?

We had that Lisa Riley switch on the town Christmas lights once, on a break from her panto rehearsals.

So that might be next for HaM’s November diary.

Seasidewalker · Today 12:04

Princess Anne carried out an unannounced visit to a charity in our small, rural seaside town off season, tucked away from the main walking area. No school children were pressganged into appearing and there were over 100 people watching.

You need to update your talking points.

Harry has returned to the 'farce'. Albeit a D list version thereof.

Harry IS the farce.

OrdinaryGingerBloke · Today 12:07

What they are doing just makes no sense and is weird. They didn’t want to be working royals but flounce around on visits like this with walkabouts attempting to emulate being working royals. It’s just stupidity.

it’s not grift.
it’s not horrible.
it’s not malicious.

It’s just plain weird. If they just had the sense to do their own thing and not try and copy to royal family engagement stuff, then successful or not, I’d have more respect. This is just cringey.

Oh my god. There we have it again, the racist approach to things.

What I would like to know though is how these posters who can only bring up racism in their attempts to derail the thread can tell what colour the rest of us posters are?

My mum used to tell my children she could see what they were up to because she had x-ray eyes and now this lot are trying to tell us they can see through the internet and computer screens.
