Reading some tattle about the Harry/William rivalry (not my usual, but I'm watching a gritty film and wanted light relief), I had a horrible thought ... If Charles and William died before George's majority, would Harry still become regent?

And if not the Whining Spare, it would be Andrew?! Is it time for a new Succession to the Crown Act, disqualifying those who've been relieved of royal duties? 😖

Oh, thanks @BemusedAmerican!

Thanks for the new thread.

Why are there so many blinds about Meghan at the moment? Has she upset someone big?

Have these come about before or after the relocation? If after might just be opportunists jumping on the bandwagon of their increased profile from the move?

Is there any consistent pattern / message coming thru them? Are they all about pre PH?

Thanks once again, jeff Flowers

Can't believe I've got to go to work on Thursday and am going to miss all the shenanigans!

I got cut off earlier, the thread went too quick!

in reply to someone who said I was a 'supporter':

I'm not a H&M supporter! I'm pretty indifferent to all the royals and have no particular affection for H&M or the rest of them.

All the stuff people have countered with seems (to me) like relatively minor stuff, a bit daft, or tit-for-tat elements of the wider family conflict.

My interest in this thread isn't a 'how dare you! They're angels!' - I'm sure they're annoying at times and lovely at others. I think William and Kate probably are too.

And the person saying I accused them of racism - it's interesting that you immediately jumped on that. I wasn't accusing anyone of anything, I was wondering aloud what elements of the situation contribute most to threads like this. What things could you change for the very particular type of person who tears through the Mail/Telegraph for another bit of H&M goss and then camps out on a mumsnet thread talking about stuff they've 'heard' that backs up their opinions about a couple they've never met...

Thanks Jeff and good to “ see” everyone again.
If I may just pop back to the walkabout following the Queen’s death. Meghan was captured on film snapping at an aide , spotted the camera and immediately switched on the rictus grin .

The King and Queen are visiting Wales for the opening of the Senedd on Thursday.

I'm hoping there is decent coverage of that, and the reporters aren't sidetracked by what the Sussexes are doing.

What's the worst thing H&M have done that justifies 50+ threads of vitriol, and has a worse and wider impact than the various humanitarian and charity stuff they've done?

BunnyBunbunbun · Yesterday 11:01

These appearances are completely meaningless, they're a joke. It's the media and the online "royal commentators" who big them up. Over time, H&M will just end up looking completely ridiculous.

Lied in a high-profile, global interview about alleged racism and allegedly being treated badly and even allegedly being driven to a suicide attempt in order to turn the world against his family. Basically, trashing your family in public - especially in an effort to cause bad feeling about them - is never a good look.

The deserved criticism continues because of all their efforts to be fake humanitarians, when they pooped all over the biggest and best platform they could have had if they wanted to do anything meaningful.

Insisting on using their royal titles after trashing the royal family. Meghan "I'm a Sussex now" Markle insists on being known as "Duchess of Sussex". They're now trying to behave as though they're still working royals.

Accusing the Head of State of unconstitutional practice is not 'minor stuff'.

Accusing an independent High Court judge of being corrupt when you have lost your court case is not 'a bit daft'.

Some of us make up our minds on source evidence.

William is going for the commemoration of the Aberfan disaster later in October, I think.

So you're saying admitting suicidal thoughts is worthy of ignoring all the humanitarian and charitable work they've done?

And because you don't like them, anything they claim that caused/causes them distress has to be a lie?

Pretty much all of this is conjecture, and it's all personal/family stuff right? They're not actively harming or demeaning anyone outside of the family politics.

Out of interest, if a friend told you they'd had suicidal thoughts or attempts, even if you thought that friend was occasionally self-centred or had a rocky relationship with a family member, would you say they were lying?

It’s not vitriol, it’s entertainment and HAM keep it coming. I honestly and sincerely wish them well and would like to think that they could live a contented life, given they have the resources to do that very comfortably. But for reasons that mystify me they want to be top dogs, with the most adoration, the best clothes, the blingiest jewels, the biggest security convoy, their every word listened to and their opinions received as if from great sages. And yet they screw up every project.

I’ve said previously, they are like a sitcom. A combination of Delboy and mutley. Always trying to win, to come out on top and always failing.

You're going over old ground/excuses made by people on here before to support Harry and Meghan. If you are unsure about what the issues are maybe read up on them ? I always like to be as well informed as I possibly can when entering discussions.

It's not conjecture that they did a high-profile, global interview trashing his family with a series of unsubstantiated allegations (which it has transpired were also lies). As for Meghan's allegation of suicidal thoughts and allegation that she was never given any help, that has been discussed many times on these threads and the idea that she would not have been given any help is preposterous if she asked for it.

What humanitarian and charitable work do they do? Harry only has Invictus and WellChild because he was once a working royal. Other than that, they do pretty much nothing but are trying hard to scrape together a bunch or rubbishy, low-grade appearances to give the impression they are the equivalent of working royals.

Lots of other members of the royal family who are non-working royals do charity work, but they don't shout if from the rooftops or book a series of "public engagements" to give the false impression that they are working royals or the equivalent of.

If they really cared about humanitarian and charitable work then they would have remained as working royals. All they care about is themselves as a brand, merch and all.
