Look I was not happy at what happened at the time of the DOE and the Q death. I also did not like the courtesy thing.
however the treatment of H and M is now verging on bullying I fear.

I would imagine that for the sake of the Kings health and Williams mental state something needs to be done to resolve the situation.

There are people that are positively nasty about Harry and I don’t agree with that.

I was irked that he attacked on the POW ( which was horrendous and then she had cancer) and also about all the other stuff but even so.

Harry is a royal - he’s not really good for nothing else as he’s been brainwashed from birth - it’s what he does.

I think that H is discovering the Threefold Law.

No sympathy here.

If it is true that Meg is busy reading scripts, I say fair play. A lot more glamorous (which is what she wants) than visiting Nottingham. Her spin is ok that she's not a working royal. Alas, her hubby has an issue letting that go

Acting is only 'glamorous' when you get to attend A list events and award shows. The day to day job is a bit of a slog, as Meghan well knows.

I don't believe she's considering a return to acting. She spent years living down the road from Hollywood, with her own production company, and never expressed any interest in acting again. But she's going to do it now that she's in rural England? I doubt it. In any case, who would hire her? She's not a good actress and would bring a whole lot of drama to the set for no obvious gain.

Well if this gets the Dollittles off their lazy arses to do some "work" then it's a job well done whatever the ulterior motives. Princess Anne can only spread so far....

According to you in a reply to me, what the working royals do isn't work, and now you want them to do them more of what you think is doing nothing?

I think they do and both were an Italianate thing - one in the Roman era and the other in the 19th century Italain opera houses. Both sought to protect that which they held dear in a semi-violent way - militaria in the first case and boisterous applause or booing in the second.

Edited

C19 theatre / opera claques were a French thing, not Italian. Eventually spread a bit but France had the proper organised claqueurs.

Butteredtoast55 · Today 12:48

Well the BBC is nailing it's colours to the mast, reporting hundreds turning out to see H & M and onlookers saying how lovely they were...alongside reporting King C opening the Senned to people shouting 'Not my King!' and then themselves stating that William has controversially never been to open the Senned despite being PoW and that the National Poet's work was too political to be read. One super-positive report vs one rather bitchy, negative one.

swedishrhapsody · Today 12:49

Two can play at that game.

BBC reporting that a 'crowd of about 50' were waiting outside the charity.

Isn't that an oxymoron? 50 is hardly a crowd!

Suing for posting an opinion on a public message board 🤣🫣🤭

And don’t forget that Harry described the US First Amendment as ‘bonkers’.

The Sussex Propaganda Machine is against freedom of expression except for themselves.

MrsFinkelstein · Today 12:56

This had been decent PR for the Sussexes, they will be pleased.

It's a slightly disappointing crowd level, but not terrible. Pretty sure they were expecting more considering how highly promoted and publicised it has been.

The 1st joint event was always going to be the biggest for them - for public and media response.

While it's not been a failure, I'm not sure a crowd of less than 200 (including a 1/4 of them being bused in school kids, & apparently a few herded in from surrounding businesses) after 2 weeks of promotion & the UK SS travelling in bodes well for the future.

I agree, @IcedPurple, though maybe there's the possibility of cameo appearances in the hope of them leading to something bigger?

A bit of a comedown, admittedly, but then so is everything else

There’s a fair bit of Welsh nationalism in the BBC Cymru Wales newsroom. (Rhun ap Iorwerth himself is an ex BBC journalist.)

As far as I remember, this year was the first Senedd election since William became PoW so not sure how he is supposed to have attended as PoW before.

The poem was rejected for references to Gaza and the trans debate, nothing to do with the RF I don’t think.

MrsFinkelstein · Today 13:00

Anyway, can I be part of the Claque? I've got wine and cheese.

(Forgot to mention in my last post, I especially liked the bit where Meghan totally channeled Catherine with Harry coming up to her and saying she had to move on and not take so long chatting). Sure, Jan.

I guess that, post Bashir, the BBC have to take whatever they can get, Butteredtoast

William made his views on their behaviour very clear, and when his turn comes I'll be interested to see whether he pushes quite so much their way or if there'll be some other approach

Yeah right 😆

ETA actually, there’s a few posters who have just appeared who are employing some rather strange turns of phrase 🤔

Also, is a new talking point that’s appearing today: ‘Harry is a royal - he’s not really good for nothing else as he’s been brainwashed from birth - it’s what he does’.

So, ten years at away at public boarding school with hundreds of other boys, ten years in the army, and nearly seven years in the US - but this 42 year old man is only capable of being ‘a royal’ (whatever that is) because he’s brainwashed?

Bewildering.

This is a multilocation visit so crowds are building at a second place - no doubt when they have finished inside they will have 'swelled'.

'Claque' AND 'Praetorian Guard.' I'm not sure the two terms are actually a phrase that works as they're two distinct things with different meanings and functions. In fact 'claque' is more appropriate as a descriptor of HaM supporters.

I was trying to show how positive and supportive we can be as a people. 😁

Mary Kate, 87, from Hyson Green in Nottingham, says she has a "soft spot" for Harry.
She said: "I'm here because of Harry. I love him.
"I think it's because of what he's gone through. What the papers have done to destroy him."
Mary added the couple had "put Nottingham on the map".
"Good luck to them," she added.

Good thing they brought in the roadworks barriers, isn't it?

Doesn't really say much for Meghan's taste in men. What exactly did the self declared feminist, strong modern woman see in the brainwashed Prince of the most famous Royal Family in the World? What was in it for her - the self made millionairess and Hollywood star?

Exactly. This just seems to be “putting in an appearance” for the sake of it. It’s not earning them any money and they are not representing anyone. So completely pointless even if the PR is ok. They don’t really have a viable business that this PR would support, so what exactly is the aim of this appearance?

It's a win for them. It's project rehabilitation for them. H plugging Diana and his MH for all it's worth to try to gain sympathy. If they play the long game, it might well work out for them
