I don't suppose it will be, MrsD - as with the Duke of Windsor which also hasn't been used in recent times, who'd want it?

The Duke of Windsor was a one-off, created for an ex-King. The Duke of York is a historic and illustrious title dating back to the Middle Ages. George VI had been Duke of York! It's a shame it's been besmirched in such a way.

Kirschcherries · Yesterday 16:13

WRT H inheriting from KC I would expect the RF do a lot of forward thinking around inheritance.

To avoid IHT you need to gift money 7 years before you die or set up trusts. I imagine that KC has probably already set up trusts for A&L which tie down the money so they inherit at specific ages e.g. 21, 40 etc.

Thank you. That's absolutely shocking mobbing. It's fine to disagree but why so hateful. Surely no one will buy the expensive and irrelevant Montecito advent calendar.

It is curious reconcilation that the team Sussex minions take on the Anglican clergy....and KC3 is....oh, wait, yep, supreme governor of the CoE.

I agree with that. I am sure she is lent / given various bit of clothing / jewellery in order to promote / advertise them.
The Diana Cartier watch I think was actually given to her as a present from H.

She also owns a cartier watch she gifted to herself and inscribed to herself.

I wish I was kidding.

I know, BunnyBunbunbun, but regardless of how the titles came into being I still doubt anyone would want either now

And yes it's a shame the York title's been disgraced, but I guess that's what you get when people like Andrew are trusted with such things

Me too

I will as well. I particularly like the fact the story of the Nativity features in an accompanying booklet. Its not often Jesus gets a look in at Christmas nowadays.

In a couple of generations Andrew will be history, in the same way that George VI and Edward VIII are now.

The Windsor Duchy was specifically created, but no-one would say we shouldn't use the Prince of Wales title because David disgraced it. The Duchy of York is traditionally used for the second son.

Monarchy time is different to celebrity time.

I've just bought two of the priests' recommended advent calendars for my (atheist) DC Grin

Me too!
I hope the leprosy charity and Christian shop does really well out of this.

Hamsterwheeloffortune · Yesterday 16:48

In you're interested, you could buy eighteen of these calendars and still be under the cost of one £112 calender of jam flavour chocolates.

I agree up to a point. But my predictions are:

  • younger siblings get lifetime only titles as a long service reward (like Princess Royal)
  • direct heir doesn't get PoW title (if parent is monarch) until ending education or marriage
  • if direct heir is grandchild rather than child when getting married, they get a dukedom (which would therefore return to the crown)

AMW still technically has the York Dukedom, so it was always unlikely it would be a marriage award for Charlotte or Louis as he is only in his 60s and his parents lived into their 90s. Possibly a long service award, by which time AmW will be a distant memory.

Or possibly we will have a republic.

There's a series of quotes from commoners about how enthralled/delighted/awed they were to meet Will.

Can almost hear the weeping and gnashing of teeth from the Costwolds now.*

I would bet that a lot of the squad either don't know what the CoE is or that KC is head of it. An ignorance they share with Harry, who apparently thinks it's OK to insult a judge working in Pa's name.

So if they stop with all the school dramas and “security” threats do you think we can take that as Ravec have given them something?

I was wondering say if they were assigned some security, what happens if they keep doxxing themselves and revealing their location to bait the media? Can the officers refuse to work for them if they put themselves and therefore the officers in danger? Because if a private security guard says no then they’re out of a job, but the state ones have plenty of other people they can be assigned to. Not sure that’s how it works, does anyone know? But given the level of their current security with the bag carrying etc, you’d hope the state ones are going to be better and have higher standards. And will presumably clash with HAM.

@JudgeJ
I would be very surprised if he has been to Holkham, they came under a lot of fire when Kate was ill but it hadn't been announced, plenty of people were making spurious suggestions about William and the lady whose name I forget. If anyone wants to stay on the right side of William they will be avoiding AMW like the plague! I can confirm he has never had a turnip here, maybe we're not toffish enough!

I think you meant Houghton Hall. I believe the residents of Holkham Hall are more elderly 🙂
