Did a parent really leak Meg's details? Or is this another HAM move ??

We cannot know for certain….however I will eat a dozen cheese hats if it’s not a ham invention!

My personal opinion is that they never actually registered at a school, and the "leaking" of a WhatsApp group etc. is merely to add verisimilitude to another attempt at saying they need security. And the "give HAMS privacy" notice never ran as likely to me either. It sounded like the sort of thing they'd have in their dreams to show how important they are.

Several things about the WhatsApp group. Firstly she specifically said she'd joined one, laying the foundations for the story - there were so many other things that could have been said and she picks on the one thing that's then leaked.
But let's say someone did share the WhatsApp screen shot. Why? What would be in it for them? If that was part of anyone's WhatsApp group immediately it would be buzzing with suspicions of who did it.
If they were doing it for money, or attention, then surely they'd have bulked it out more. Maybe a photo of the convoy, or even of people. Or a story about "my dc is in the same class and they played together in the sandpit". If they wanted to annoy them then a negative story about how the convoy had driven over the head's foot would have been just as marketable.

I bet the phone number used is set up with an answerphone message along the lines of: "You've reached the voicemail of HRH the Duchess..." in case anyone phoned it to check.

Starryfifty · 16/09/2026 18:03

Let's day the school is "Cotswold primary" example only. Surely if the leak is a fabrication, the parents of said WhatsApp group would be up in arms. Furious at the idea one of them would leak ?? It's all very bizarre

I will never understand how they get away with this stuff, remember when Harry’s friend spoke to the Daily Mail about Sophie Chandauka, with Harry’s approval, it was beyond racist and misogynistic.

I remember it very well, Thedom, though I'm sure Harry would deny he knew about the remarks if it was necessary

Given his own known racism I've often wondered if the mask might slip if the divorce many expect comes to pass, but that's another thing where only time will tell

I’m not entirely comfortable with this to be honest, the threads have not opened up , they have always been open, and the people discussing the blinds are not new posters, new posters are always welcome and obviously they may well not have followed the back story like older posters , so they are coming forth with what they have read …if you doubt the sources it’s better to explain why in a kind manner rather than assume any bad intent .

There has been a distinct deterioration in content, particularly in the previous two thread. This thread dies resemble earlier ones though. Was the recent influx down to name changers? It was a very distinct set of new posters with only a few name changers.

eta - I didn’t mean that the threads were previously closed. It was meant as in numbers.

Wouldn't it be easy to look at the screenshot and have a decent idea of who allegedly leaked it? If so, that person will never be trusted by anyone at the school again, and rightly so.

And as you say, if they're going to take that risk, why ruin your reputation for the sake of a very boring screenshot? Why not bide your time and come up with something juicier while you're still not under suspicion? Like we said, it's not like anyone at whatever school it is desperately needs money. The story just doesn't add up.

IAmATorturedPoet · 16/09/2026 18:18

The school run is indeed crazy and certainly something I was very pleased to see the back of when my time was up.

My Dsis lived just down the road from a school and she quite often had cars parked across her drive at drop off and pick up times and on more than one occasion would find a car parked up on her actual drive while the parent ran into school with their children.

Crazy.

I am really convinced Mumsnet agrees with the majority of posts on these threads.
For the second time today I have properly laughed at one of the adverts underneath a post.
I do hope Meghan hasn’t seen them - she will have to put herself to bed while Harry rolls himself or gets his bodyguard to a huge joint.

For your enjoyment

Don't underestimate a yummy mummy intent on getting her little darling to school on time. Plus H&M aren't the only people driving huge SUVs able to muscle in at roundabouts and junctions.

And whilst I don't underestimate a well trained driver, I think it's rather dangerous to be in a convoy trying to keep together at school rush hour in a congested area like Oxford. Lots of cyclists weaving in and out, people stepping out at zebra crossings etc, traffic calming and even with a 20mph speed limit, speeding up to get across a traffic light when the car in front has gone is not always a good idea. I think for the safety of everyone travelling to school or work in that part of Oxford the absence of a convoy driven by a paranoid Prince and beefy security blokes is a blessing.

Edited

Well here’s the thing…with kindness…I don’t recognise your name , to me you are a new poster, now I assume that you have changed your name , I assume that most of the posters I don’t recognise are name changers unless they say otherwise……I don’t personally see a deterioration in content, rather just more variety in opinions .

yes I do recognise some posters regardless of name changes but that is only the ones who have a certain style or those I have posted alongside for many years otherwise 🤷‍♀️.

And it’s important to remember that everyone here on this board or mn itself started as a new poster.

Oh god, the early days of MN, when you spent ages crafting an excellent point only to be ignored in favour of mumsnet royalty who would make the same point (much worse) and then be lauded and - shudder - be waved at by their adoring fans. It was like being at Mallory Towers and stuck in the outer orbit of Darrell Rivers.

They could be still over in US, they could be here. I suspect over here, but I wouldn't be totally amazed to find they aren't. They could easily be registered with an online school when they could work from anywhere, or they might have a (or more) tutor who travels with them. I doubt their parents have even considered doing it for heaps of reasons, not least that they're far too important and busy to have time.

What information has been put out?

Photo of several cars leaving B'ham airport - could be anyone in there
Various announcements hinting at what school they've chosen - there's enough information for people to make confident guesses, but if you were at one of those schools and you knew they weren't there, you'd just assume that they were at another and guesses were wrong.
"Announcements" from the school in question. These seem to have come from HAM, even if you believe they exist. Again, because the school hasn't been definitely named, no one will bother denying it.
Saying when they're starting school.
Announcement from HAM that everyone loves them and it's all wonderful and they've joined the WhatsApp group
Leaking of the WhatsApp group screenshot - HAM again
A video made to look like it it was filmed here after they'd arrived in the UK in August, but more likely filmed at other times.

They're all things that make it sound right, but don't actually give any true information. They're either clearly desperate for the school to be leaked, or they want to give enough information to make it sound plausible with no actual proof.

There's a few little things as well - Hello reported HAM as having settled Lili into Reception class, obviously coming from HAM. I thought she was 5yo, in which case it should be year 1? Now it is fairly usual ime for those coming over from US to have to drop a year, but I can't see HAM wanting that for their amazing daughter. I'm sure they would see it as infra dig for their dc.
I doubt HAM would know offhand the school starting age was 4yo in September, but often people say "school starting age is 5yo". So if they hadn't actually put them into school, they probably would assume that she'd be going into the youngest form - reception, because they wouldn't have been corrected by someone who knew.

In fact they've done fairly much what I would do if I wanted to lay a trail looking publicly like my dc were in school when they weren't.
I'd probably have added a "back to school" photo. They could have done one with them in cute long woollen coats with just a peek of Archie's shorts showing and long socks from behind which could be generic posh school. Or waving from the window of the car, or after coming out with tie and jumper taken off and messy with paint is perhaps more their style...
And I'd also have placed someone to take a photo of a convoy and put it on a village FB chat. "Anyone know who this is? Not seen this before." Actually send the convoy through and you'd get plenty of "I saw it too", although if it was our local chat the stories would probably have had them robbed the local pub and squashed a cat by lunch time. Safer not really to do so then. 🤣

Anyway, I have not posted much lately as my dcs went to state schools and the world of WhatsApp mummies groups and certainly convoys is alien to me! I do live next door to a vair fancy prep school and will spy out of window for any new pupils ….

Could you imagine the scandal if they tried to enrol their kids and were refused ! I think they would blow the school out of the water if that happened.

The school would simply say they were full, which they probably are.

It sounds absolutely barking mad for anyone with "security fears" to blithely give out their phone numbers like this - what exactly do they pay for costly security advise for if they are going to ignore it?

I have lived this in my past as a result of DH's job - risk, threats even death threats and we took sensible precautions.

  • we registered a PO Box as our home address
  • used DH's workphone as contact number
  • had throwaway e-mail accounts
  • didn't allow the DCs to be photographed for nursery/school websites and local paper etc
  • very limited online presence
Just sensible precautions - but this is the HAM problem in a nutshell - they can't decide if they want to be royals or Kardashians/influencers (but I bet even Kim uses a burner phone as her school contacts)

Unless of course it wasn't her actual number but a burner phone - in which case what is the problem? They are making their integration into school life very difficult if they don't stop running to the press with every minor annoyance - how many parents will want to interact with them? I can see why Charles refuses to allow them a direct contact number and makes them go through an aide.

After just two weeks, they are risking all prep schools not being prepared to give them a place. Then it will be home schooling or local authority. Perhaps there's an Ofsted Outstanding church school close by - 'My father is head of the Church of England. You say there are no places? That's racist. It's gingerist. We need more drugs anaesthetic. It's an establishment plot.' - then they can join the walking school bus with their ex-police security guards, with the motorcade running alongside them on the road. Just a happy Cotswolds scene.

Spaniels4Eva · 16/09/2026 18:54

I can't help but feel that all of this boils down to the RF not drawing out firm lines when they stepped back as senior royals. It was too vague and H & M have done nothing but take advantage of it ever since. Why are they on the RF website? Why are they still in the LoS and why do their children have titles? All of this should have been dealt with at the time, and now the RF are having their reputation trashed on a daily basis by one cheap Sussex PR stunt after another.

Both Harry and Meghan have reportedly been sighted at Soho house, I expect the horror of Oxford traffic needed some restorative relaxation in a suitably exclusive environment.
So I expect they 1. are here and 2. Have found a way to while away the hours between morning and afternoon school runs.
