In case it wasn't clear, IPP status is not something that can be awarded by RAVEC.

RAVEC deals with UK security.

I think this is a huge factor for him as they had plenty of faux royal tours planned. Australia was a shit show (despite them thinking otherwise) and they desperately need the status

Yes, it would have enabled them to do all those faux royal foreign tours with all security paid for.

Thanks blue, then why is he banging on about IPP status? Who decides that ? (Of course i know we are not dealing with a sound mind here)

IAmATorturedPoet · 16/09/2026 09:53

They just want to carry on dicking around with their pretend royal tours etc but on our £ and not their own.

All this leaking is just making them look a pair of utter fools (again). I think they must only have one brain cell each because anyone in possession of more than one is not buying into this nonsense.

IPP is not awarded by anyone, it is something you qualify for due to your role. It puts obligations on foreign governments.

By UN Convention, Heads of Government and Heads of State, in the main.

Yes, I know, hence my (long) post above.

I then realised I'd left the loophole as people were still talking as if it could be awarded.

Nope. It's obvious how deluded they are, isn't it?
They want the same protection as the Obamas.

As per my longer post, IPP status comes from being a head of state (or representative of the head of state) abroad.

It's determined by statute, not decided by anyone.

Starryfifty · 16/09/2026 10:00

Who would have IPP status in UK? Prime minister and the King ??

Thanks Blue. It's one long daft soap opera

Yes, plus Prince William, as he often officially represents the Head of State

And also because he could potentially be in another country when he becomes King and so the actual HoS, as happened to Elizabeth when George vi died

The Obamas don’t have IPP status.

The slack handful I've met don't tend to go around advertising what they do/did and probably wouldn't be great at cocktail parties,.so I guess they might appear dull in that context.

@notimagain ex military? Been years since I've heard the phrase "slack handful!"

H doesn't seem to understand the different levels of security. He wants the optics of cavalcades, armed security guards, fanfare and fuss

Foreign ministers and their official representatives

LaMarschallin · 16/09/2026 10:05

This is obviously all down to Harry's misunderstanding then.
I had certainly never heard of IPP status until he issued a statement (later redacted, iirc) that he and Meghan had it and I doubt I'm the only one who hadn't.

Eta What the hell is that GIF doing there?
I must have brushed the screen when I posted 🤦🏻‍♀️

Harry confuses security with status, and doesn't realise that the best way to be safe is often to be quiet and for no-one to know that you are there.

SanguineAutumnalCrow · 16/09/2026 10:10

Serenster · 16/09/2026 08:24

Oddly, a few MPs are putting an awful lot of effort into supporting full security for a non-working royal. We should be looking at who and asking why.

On this point, one of the MPs currently agitating on X for security is Mike Tapp (MP for Dover & Deal) who is also allegedly a personal friend of Liam MacGuire, the Sussexes’ head of PR. They apparently went to school together, and someone called Liam MacGuire donated to Mike Tapp’s crowd funder for his electoral campaign. Interesting!

Thank you! I love these missing pieces of the puzzle you provide, @Serenster.

And doesn’t that one explain a lot.

Ah, the days of the modest "Just call me 'Harry'" are long gone.
Now he has to remind people he's a "Prince of England" and a duke.

diddl · 16/09/2026 10:15

So if the kids were only at school for a day or two(?), I'm guessing there was always a back up school?

Which the kids are now at?

So is the school they were at always "difficult" to get to or just the direction they would be coming from?

I mean usually people with their money would be able to co ordinate things wouldn't they?

Maybe harder if you're relying on others for housing!

Will the kids change schools again if they have to house themselves?
