In short, tjey are looking to re-fresh their brand positioning because the jams are not going to make them millionaires. Exactly this. They need to show their commercial partners that they are prolific, and a good way to do that is align themselves with charities who need their message spreading far and wide. But I imagine this letter is a huge and worrying setback for them. I imagine there are a lot of commercial partners now who will question whether signing them is worth the risk of negative headlines attached to their brand. Edited to add: in America, that didn't matter so much, but for UK brands it could be poison.
