A continuation of the shenanigans of our favourite non working royals! 😁

The problem Harry and Megan will face with charity's the UK is that it's all me me me. They do it their benefit not the charity's. Charity's in the UK are on to them, they would rather have other celebrities who do it for the right reasons

Since Andy Burnham has set up "Number 10 North" it makes sense to have "Buckingham Palace North". Doesn't the weekly meeting between Prime Minister and Monarch happen on a Wednesday? How much easier to delegate this onerous duty to the "Spare up North". Will save Andy using that government jet on a weekly basis.

It makes perfect sense to send them to Manchester. 🤗😂

So long as ‘North’ remains in the southern half of the UK that is fine…

If you think it is Burnham leading this, you’re very much mistaken.

You can't just declare this with no back up.

Everyone on here has an opinion - but that is different to stating it as facts.

He has the meeting with the monarch, not the hangers on

Apologies if it's already been said - but I thought the BBC article referring to the King's letter as 'a shot across the bows' inappropriate, editorialising. If you're going to be neutral you'd just say something along the lines of the letter clarifying the Sussexes position with regard to the working Royals.

The BBC go soft on the pair I think - that interview with Harry by the American BBC correspondent when he'd been refused security was so soft, no probing questions or anything - and the entire interview was him, at base, whining about his loss of status, wanting his cake and his ha'penny.

The BBC has long since abandoned neutrality/impartiality on nearly everything.

Starts to build a wall resembling Hadrian's, just a few miles further south ...

@PoliteRaven Does any decent news outlet give H a hard time? Why single out the BBC? H and M won’t answer hard questions, so journalists would get nothing? Maybe Oprah Winfrey should be their personal interviewer? They would never get near them if they asked difficult questions. It’s the reason why the H narrative can work. As he’s a private citizen he could be asked difficult questions but he won’t be. A H&M news blackout would suit me!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/09/2026 11:38

BunnyBunbunbun · 08/09/2026 08:06

Yes, it's a clarification letter signed by the Lord Chamberlain and sent to organisations and officials. It's not a statement made by the King himself after a decisive agreement between both parties. It's also about one aspect of things - Harry and Meghan as private citizens who do not represent the royal family.

An important and very valid point, BunnyBunbunbun
Certainly Charles will have given the go-ahead, but it provides just enough distance for him to claim he "didn't know" and blame the staff if he wishes to change his approach at any point

Nonsense. There is no way he could, or would, claim he didn’t know. If he wanted to change approach in future he could simply say ‘there has been a change’.

Couldn't they go up north and be prince and princess of the North?

I would have suggested the Falkland Islands but I don't think it's fair on the good people of those islands . . . they've endured enough already

bluegreygreen · 08/09/2026 11:42

I don't think this one was written in a way to allow for future distancing, @Puzzledandpissedoff. I think it was written in a way that totally avoids ambiguity.

The first paragraph reads:

Following the decision by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to relocate to the UK, we have received a number of requests for Guidance. To help avoid doubt or confusion, The King has directed that the following information be shared.

The source of the information is clear.

Unless of course if by ‘up north’ you mean the arctic circle.
If that’s what you meant, then yes , fine!

Well if they did then Meg could sing to the seals again!

Hello all, I’m trying to catch up on unfolding events while we’re in the middle of roof maintenance and repairs here at Casa Crow. Total stressy nightmare is all I can say.

Liam McGuire is proving to be a real disaster for the Sussexes, IMO. Since he took the helm of their yawing ship, it’s taken on even more water and entered even choppier seas.

Because it is the State broadcaster paid for by what essentially is a tax.

I agree the source is absolutely clear, bluegreygreen, but have to wonder why Charles avoided doing as his mother did by issuing it in her own name, thereby removing any ambiguity at all

There is no way he could, or would, claim he didn’t know

Errrr ... you might want to look a little further into this, @Chrysanthemumsinpots

Serenster · 08/09/2026 11:53

The couple, who returned to Britain a fortnight ago, are also understood to be concerned that the timing of the announcement may be linked to a crucial meeting over their security arrangements.

Why would that be a concern for Harry and Meghan? They must be operating on the basis that RAVEC already know about their status vis-a-vis the Royal family, and that all that has changed is their physical location? Unless they were trying to mislead R$AVEC about their status - which would presumably be unwise, given the committee’s composition.

Or maybe it just gives them another opportunity to shoehorn their oft-repeated gripes about their security status in another press cycle….

They would prefer it if it were a tax. More and more people are opting out of receiving their biased ideological broadcasting so their License fee receipts are plummeting.
