So their spokesman says they were "surprised" but the letter but then admits they knew it was being sent out.

Apart from the irritating publicity they’ve released about thei plans in the UK, I think that speaks volumes about the nature of the Highgrove Meeting. I think KC must have been alarmed by what H and M were wanting from it and realised he’d have to clamp down hard.

It was reported that as H left, KC said to Camilla and a member of staff “Harry never listens!”

Plenty of us have said once they get their security they will be off royal- ing round the country

The info sent out was clarification for a time thinking of hosting them. They are not part of the official set up that oversees Royal visits. Hosting charities and Lord Lieutenant offices needed to know that. If H&M support something, they do so privately with no Palace or local Palace appointed support.

Clearly the RF were delighted when they fucked off. That statement makes it clear that they can’t come back as working Royals,

No access to the Jewel rooms for Meghan.
No uniform wearing for Harry.
No State Dinner invites, or other high profile events.

What’s so weird about the pair of them is not that they are so tone deaf about each other’s worlds (British royal family, USA show biz) but somehow each about their own. It’s like instead of coming together and sharing knowledge, they’ve managed to infect each other with ignorance.
So somehow they are both confused about what is required to be a successful and accepted member of the royal family (discretion, obedience, self control, pretending not to be too greedy); and being successful in show biz (skills, ideas, creativity, star quality, grit, determination, that something special magic sparkle).

How were they so badly advised that they’ve tried to win in both arenas simply by whining and effectively saying “do you know who I am”? They’ve poisoned all the wells

Does this now mean that the Hamlets can't be working royals if they chose to as H has stated he wants for them ?

AMW tried for years to have B and E as working Royals and that was refused .

I don't see how the HAMlets could ever have just decided to be working royals as adults. If the super smart and confident Meghan 🙄 struggled even after an acting career, how on earth would newcomers adapt? Add this to the very long list of things Harry has never thought through properly.

I seem to recall (not long before they actually left the RF) that an un-named 'aide' described them both as thin skinned and feeding off each other in terms of negativity. Certainly I think it is true that they are a couple who bring out the worst in each other. I was predicting a divorce before long, but they seem to be totally enmeshed.

Do you think they might chase “woke” type charities or endeavours now? Obviously official recognition, red carpets, bowing and scraping are off the table, but there are plenty of organisations which might welcome them as a stick-it-to-the establishment thing. I’m not sure what Invictus would make of that though. My electrician (that sounds a bit grand, actually the bloke who mended the fuse board) was in Afghanistan and he said Harry had been a good laugh but all felt he was a sad sack now and as for Meghan…

I wonder if they have a plan B because KC has just shot down their Plan A.
I suspect they haven’t so they will continue with ‘Carry On Royal’ until KC is left with no choice but to put their titles in abeyance in the same way as the bad uncle.

I think they both imagined that just “being royal” would be enough. Harry thought that because he is Prince Harry, that was an end in itself and he would always just have access to royal stuff. He doesn’t understand that you still have to “work” at it as it were. Meghan thought that being an actual princess (not sure she understood the Duchess thing) would just give her access to a Disney world of sunshine and sparkles. So they have both managed to trash all their opportunities because they assumes that what they wanted would happen without any effort on their part
