Is there something wrong with being an older conventional lady? I would love to live in the worlds of Miss Read or St Mary Mead. I aspire to be conventional! “I’m mad, me!” totally overrated.

Re the story about George and Charlotte shopping: One of the things that's been regularly reported is that H has absolutely no clue about money, and genuinely thinks it just materialises from somewhere (see also his comments about £5m being "a drop in the ocean"). So I applaud Catherine for giving the kids pocket money and a budget.

There's a story in Tina Brown's Palace Papers of a visitor to Diana at KP giving W&H a £50 note each, and D cooing "Oh look boys, pink grannies!" That would have been in the early 90s at the latest, and £50 was a lot of money then.

Local Norfolk gossip when the kids were little was that they used to pop into the EACH shop (East Anglian Children's Hospices, where C is a patron) and the kids could choose one toy, no more, each, and that despite a few stormy scenes W&C were always adamant that, no, they couldn't have any more. One only. Children need limits. And furthermore, I don't imagine for a minute that that attitude was part of W's upbringing. I think C has had to teach him an enormous amount about parenting.

Where do i claim my monied husband and/ or family money?

I would rather have the family money, please, as a single mum I am used to having the place just to myself and DD (and DDog, of course).

I can then spend the years before I turn 60 in enjoying myself instead of earning a living 🏖

I'm just waiting, though, for the inevitable scolding posts asking us all why we care, we don't know these people etc.

I was watching a Dan Snow video on YouTube about the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and all the historical/ constitutional implications of that episode. I've read lots about them but more is coming to light all the time. And I'm interested in the Sussex Scandals because I see it very much in that light - it's history happening in front of our eyes! And it really does show that individuals, sometimes very vain and stupid ones, can have a real effect on history.

So despite being an older woman - maybe conventional? That's not for me to say! - I love watching these events unfold and hearing other views on them.

I think so too. I think that all the weird PR goings on from the Sussexes are now so obvious that everyone is getting mightily pissed off with them and can see straight through their machinations

As an aside, being of a certain vintage means that many of us don’t rely on ChatGPT to write our posts. Which is something of a relief. I mean, who wants to rely on something that when read phonetically in French is called “cat, I’ve farted”?🤔

Does Meghan have another 17y of financial backing to tide her over to a profit? I know that years of building at a loss are built-in to a lot of brands.

But then also a lot fold because that "building" doesn't happen.

@CoffeeCantata How is talking about people having "slitty eyes" antyhing other than "crude racism"? I do think that MM is a difficult person and having a narcissist/emotionally immature/histrionic mother I find her endlessly fascinating on a psychological level. I´m sure MM is a night mare to deal with, but some of the fawning over the royal family on here gets a bit tedious.

Indeed, @CoffeeCantata, and I was amused by the trailing of the hitherto unused word "demure" from a fan on the last thread, clearly to bait others into being labelled racist

Happily it's all very easy to ignore so the thread doesn't get derailed no
