Thanks, BWLT... just when you think it can't get worse. If this was fictional, people would say that it was too far fetched.

MrsLeonFarrell · 28/08/2026 19:49

It's all getting a bit awkward now. That article was just sad.

Utterly bizarre that H and M are so ready to accept handouts of £millions! They have no self respect. Just extraordinary entitlement

Theunamedcat · 28/08/2026 20:04

Does king Charles publish his finances?

Gotback · 28/08/2026 20:07

They want to live in a Richard Curtis film.

Scorchio84 · 28/08/2026 20:07

yes @KittyHigham how are they not mortified? Like god knows I've taken a hand out over the years when I was on my absolute arse but everything was fair & square, like either pay back asap or I'll be the donor next time & it was certainly not in the millions 😂I've found over the years knowing you owe someone, family or friend, money weighs on your mind, these two are so shameless & brazen.. it's quite a study

I see there is a rental site in the Cotswolds where you can rent a whole stately home - such as this one with 8 beds. It comes with a gardener but the company arranges domestic staff if you want them

Astley Manor Stow-on-the-Wold - Luxury Cotswold Rentals

Classic manor house with stunning gardens, tennis court, lake & hot tub near Stow. From £15,925 p.w.

What jumped out from that article for me is the idea that H and M are looking for a nurturing, outdoorsy education for their children, which is exactly what I see the Wales providing for their children. Nothing wrong with reflecting on your parenting choices and making changes but the cynic in me thinks this comes from envy.

CathyorClaire · 28/08/2026 20:46

Thanks for new thread, BigWillyLittleTodger.

I'm having trouble keeping up but have the gist!

From the article.

Now he is going to have a chance to enjoy all of the things he loves about the country, but as a private citizen.

IIRC the things he loved included allegedly blasting protected birds of prey out of the sky while having endless lackeys (along with royal perks on police attendance) to allegedly cover it up.

While I hope his twitching skills have improved, I wonder where such staff might be found, how he's going to pay for them and whether police attendance might still be restricted given it won't be an official royal residence.

FenellaFeldman · 28/08/2026 20:50

Poor man. He had such a terrible time as a Prince! If only he could have given it up, and found freedom....oh, wait...

AutumnCrowOnTheMold · 28/08/2026 20:59

That Page Six article all about Ian Wace’s ex-wife (Aldridge) and M - I’m still pondering on it so bringing it across.

We all knew on here that the maths weren’t mathing, well most of us that is, another Daddy Warbucks on speed dial it seems.

Harry never seems very keen to spend his own money does he? We all know he's been given millions in inheritances as well as the money from the book and Netflix. Why doesn't he just buy his own damn house?

It's how some of the rich stay rich, by not using their own money. I rather doubt Charles is putting up money for this. I can see him having an existing agreement to help with school fees in some way but I don't see him financing their racketing around the world buying properties.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 28/08/2026 21:16

The Sussexes are house-hunting in earnest now that they have ‘boots on the ground’, with a gargantuan budget which strikes some of their Californian crowd as downright improbable, fearing they may have to give up their US base after all.
‘They will have to sell in Montecito,’ says one US-based source upon being shown the details of the house which the couple are said to be keen on. Adding, after closer inspection of its vast lands and being told the price tag: ‘What! That’s not possible!

Seems it’s not just us on here who know the finances don’t add up.

But it's all entirely reasonably set aside for the dc...

I have often wondered if that’s because Harry isn’t actually allowed to access the capital.

FenellaFeldman · 28/08/2026 21:24

Maybe the next time he drives along a street and sees a bin van, or a traffic warden, or people waiting for a bus he can be confident that their hard earned tax money is paying for his security. 😡

BigWillyLittleTodger · 28/08/2026 21:24

His father the King appears to be adopting an ostrich approach where he ignores the way it looks, and it is briefed that Harry’s life is nothing to do with him and he knows nothing of his plans. Not everyone is convinced that this can be true

No surprises there then.

Nothing from the Toad Hall refurb 'repayment' farce onwards has ever added up.

I may have been the first to say it here 😎
