As this US piece on fb today shows, H&M’s accusations of racism persist in the eyes of those who don’t care to look at the over whelming evidence to the contrary and whose narrative it suits.

H may well have very quietly walked it back to “unconscious bias” when questioned much later but what is remembered is M in her Diana eyeliner egged on by a disingenuous Oprah and he is happy to let this egregious insult to his family stand.

The way he absented himself from the part of the “interview” was always strange. Was it that even in his treachery and self obsession he could not quite stomach sitting next to M whilst she trotted out this blatant lie?

The first thing I would be asking for before there could be any degree of family reconciliation would be a public retraction and apology and that is never going to happen.

(photo under approval)

I always thought H looked shocked when Oprah asked him about the skin colour comment. He was clear it was one conversation and he would never tell what was said.

M essentially conflated several conversations to imply racism was the reason Archie was not a prince.

twatwrangler · Yesterday 09:48

I can’t imagine that the Wales children have been kept in the dark about their cousins or H.

I suspect that their mum and dad have explained things and that they are made to feel secure and confident. They also have a set of grandparents who know normal life and I think that will assist in them being well adjusted. Their mum and dad seem down to earth, drama free and steadfast.

Unfortunately the behaviour of the Sussex parents is not the same. I wonder how much of the drama and bitterness is absorbed.

That's exactly right, she was very dishonest to do so. Even worse - Archie is actually a prince, so how does she square that little curiosity?

twatwrangler · Yesterday 09:52

I think she will never be able to rub that hard enough to make it square.

That was an astounding lie.

The only thing that astounds me more is that people still keep choosing to believe the racism narrative that she flung out to the universe.

They do - it's baffling really. Especially as they've been found to lie about so many things..

Many Ex Army officers are able to command fees for speaking about leading teams

It's the same across all three services but as you rightly say you generally need to have commanded at VVSO level or if not as VSO have some experience in a niche role - ex-Red Arrows or similar.

H offers none of that.

Kirschcherries · Yesterday 09:57

It’s worse than that, because whilst Archie was not a prince until his grandfather was King he was and is the Earl of Dumbarton from birth. So he always had a title.

Technically Charlotte and Louis should not have been Princess and Prince until Charles became King but HMTLQ made a change to the letters patent at the same time as she changed the LoS so if W&K first born was a girl she would be the heir. I believe this was the real issue for H & M as they wanted the same for A & L rather than waiting for Charles to be King.

You're right. It's being desperate for the same status as the Wales children.

I'm sure M will be gathering fodder for her next round of whining and complaints. The antiquated school system which is cruel to her delicate children, insisting they wear shoes and uniforms. They were told off because she is mixed race so there is inherent racism in the system, the other parents were nasty to her because of racism... her kids weren't safe because they went into the playground without a bodyguard and someone spoke to them without permission. She can have a field day now, then flounce off back to the US whilst she starts divorce proceedings, because ITS NEVER HER FAULT.

I really wonder how H&M will get on being 'normal' members of the GBP. Any flouncing, complaints, whinging will be treated, I am sure, quite coolly and perhaps even grey rocked by parents and staff. British schooling will be great for A&L and perhaps a great leveller for H&M when they realise they just aren't that special.

I don't think it's fair to say the school should have invested in changing their website so it wasn't identifiable.

They're on holiday now and wouldn't have know what was going to be put out there, and it's probably a third party managing the website.

And I will be astonished if we don't get first day photos which give away which school anyway.

I suspect HAM wanted to give information that would leak the school, so if the school had immediately leapt on the website and changed it, firstly it would almost certainly have been too late for many people but also HAM would have found another way of making it obvious.

Yes. I think the plan from HAM's side was to assume the school would eventually be revealed, as it will be in time - and in fact that's desirable for them because it enables them showing off where the kids are being educated, but also complaining yet again that yet again they've been done over by the mean racist British press and public. They've priced this in. It's impractical to imagine the name of the school could be concealed indefinitely, without cooperation and goodwill from those in the know. For example, as was said on an earlier thread, the school attended by the Starmer children was known to a number of people but because that request for privacy was very reasonable and understandable, it wasn't made public. HAM simply don't have that level of cooperation and goodwill. But it will allow them to, conveniently, claim victim status once again once it's openly named, as I think it will be in time.

BillyBites · Yesterday 10:23

I don't see what the issue is with regard to the school being named - or not.
We all knew where the Wales kids went initially and again, when they shifted to Lambrook. "Oh, nice," we all said, and went about our days as usual. No drama.

And yet here we have the Sussexes and look at all the column inches being filled with speculation and angst. It's almost as if it were planned to be that way...

This, plus the Wales children have other cousins who they do know and see regularly. They have normality modelled for them. Their Sussex cousins are the outliers. Whereas Archie and Lili have no awareness of cousins and what having a wider family might be like, having been isolated from all of those people. Poor kids.

I’m waiting for them to insist they must be bowed/curtseyed to and for the children to be addressed with their titles at all times.
Actually, I don’t think anything will surprise me where these two are involved!

Agreed, however due to his Royal upbringing, Eton education, RMAS experience you would think he could have elevated his speeches to something other than the fluff he comes out with.

KimWexlersPonyTail · Yesterday 10:31

I keep thinking back to that photo of PK With the kids and her ILS after she finished the 3 peaks climb. Such a happy normal family picture, the HAMs must have seen that. Their family life seems sort of lonely/empty.

I'm actually not at all bothered if some billionaire is funding their life in the UK. It's no different (except on a much larger scale) than couples whose wealthy parents pay off mortgages and school fees (couple of threads on AIBU re this). What would bother me intensely would be if the taxpayer funded ANY of it.

Good point. If I were choosing between whether our overstretched national economy had to support them or whether some billionaire with plenty of spare cash decided he wanted to do it, then Mr Big Bucks is welcome to take them on, from my point of view. It's still hypocritical of HAM, but at least we ordinary taxpayers aren't picking up the tab.

His head is full of fluff, that's the trouble.

It's been in the media a lot. Thanks to Tom & Plum Sykes, Palace Confidential et al. Although the reports could be wrong of course.

Yes there are a lot of schools. But also many reporters saying no not this one, no not that one. Oh and of course there's this one, but of course not that etc etc.

I'm curious as an Australian that there is school on a Saturday? What, 6 days a week? That's a lot for primary aged children. Or is the Saturday a sports day?

Edited

Just for clarity, because I think it's important, especially as people from different countries use these boards.

Palace Confidential is the RF YouTube/podcast of the Daily Mail. They have not put out any information regarding which school it might be. I know that because I watch it every week.
What they have said clearly is that they know the school, as do other journalists, but that no-one would report that because the Editors' Code of Conduct does not permit them to do so.

Tom Sykes works for the Daily Beast and runs his own YouTube Channel/podcast, The Royalist. That is regulated differently and he has put out enough information (copied to these threads) that many people have worked out the school.

Other YT/internet/international news sites may have done the same. They are regulated differently to UK press organisations (realistically, internet news is not regulated at all).
UK press organisations will not be identifying the school.

Editors' Code of Practice - you're looking for Clause 6.

Sources believe that the companies that want him to work for them will pay for his transatlantic travel by private jet

I imagine he's actually unemployable. Wonder which company is head hunting him and for what role!

I doubt she’d be considered.

No-one really wants that level of drama when you have loads of money.

You don’t want someone spunking it up against the wall either.

Plus I reckon he might want to go for a racy sporty number. Sadly she is likely more banger than classic.

Ian and his partner Arpad have managed to rack up relationships with Una Thurman, Elle McPherson, Saffron Aldridge and Jemma Kidd , so Meghan would feel she’d fit right in

Editors' Code of Practice - you're looking for Clause 6.

The Editors Code of Practice only applies to newspapers and magazines (whether online or in print) who have signed up voluntarily to be regulated by IPSO. Several newspapers have not, including some of the nationals.

it doesn’t apply to YouTube, social media, foreign publications, GB News or Mumsnet or anywhere else this story is being discussed. Or TV. It’s a tiny tiny part of the regulatory landscape.
