So Meg was right. She's coming back and Catherine has no choice but to suck it up

I think the phrase was “eat humble pie” which is not quite the same as suck it up.

I think Catherine will rise above and keep her counsel.

Hope this posts, I just saw it on Twitter*

“We’ve taken the decision to return to Britain in order to spend more time with my father’s money”

(*maybe later when the pic gets the green light)

Its interesting, if its true, that they're going to go to the same schools as the Tindall children.

I can imagine they've been watching the Tindalls and their kids thinking that's a nice life: private, do what you want, make money, but part of the family. And want to try to create that.

And they could have had that SO EASILY. Just quietly step back. Move to the cotswolds and don't slag the family off. Simple.

But the fact they think they can retrospectively create this is deluded. They can't undo what's been done, and they don't have the strength of character to quietly rebuild trust over time.
They'll want it all to fall into place for them with this new plan immediately and when it doesn't the whining will start again.

The thing is she wouldn’t be happy with the Tindall’s life. I saw them on the train back from London a few weeks ago, just on their own like normal people, carrying their own stuff. Meghan craves attention, she wants an entourage. She’s not getting on the train from Paddington to Kemble or Kingham and carrying her own bags.

BemusedAmerican · 20/08/2026 15:45

Out of curiosity, is there a large number of unattached billionaires in London? I also believe a lot of rich Americans moved to the Cotswolds ...

Also he received an annual allowance from the then King which was probably conditional on him staying away.

I can see an annual allowance from
KC maybe an attractive option for H but would need some clear boundaries in return.

I see Rob shuter has said that she will be coming on a six month trial basis.

She’s not coming back. The 6 months is to settle her DCs into school. She will
not be seen in public in the UK during that time…..unless she is invited to Catherine’s Carol Concert or the Sandringham Christmas Walk.

She will be in Cali where the DCs will visit her Xmas, Easter, Summer and then in Portugal for half terms.

It was totally unnecessary and very inadvertently revealing to proactively declare in the moving to UK announcement that MM would be leading her businesses from their international residences. Debt & Divorce

When was the last OW interview? I think I must have missed that one.

Phrased badly. OW was being interviewed and she very much distanced herself from HAM

They're not 'reporting'. They're speculating and rage baiting for clicks.

I hope this doesn't turn out to be tax payer funded. The Ravec agreement I assume was predicated on periodic visits by H , given the appropriate notice . I'm sure it wasn't intended to fund round the clock security whilst his family lives here. So I think it will have to be reviewed otherwise he's getting more than working Royals. Unless he assumes living here puts him on a rolling 30 day notice 😊. If his security is paid for then this is saving him a fortune so a clear financial gain. 24 x 7 security for the whole family will be deeply unpopular I am sure.

ETA - I do hope this is for click rage or whatever it's called as @IcedPurple says.

I agree. I think William and Catherine will continue to show them what grace and class are.

IcedPurple · 20/08/2026 16:03

I was musing above that this could be a prelude to a separation.

But if so, surely Meghan would be doing everything in her power to keep the children in California? They are resident there and she would have the final say on whether or if they leave the country. By moving to Britain, she's giving Harry the upper hand in any eventual custody battle.

Agree with your ETA..

I wonder if the DM are just using some standard numbers for prorection (plenty of info on line), assumed 24/7 and come up with illustrative figures for the sake of clicks.

As you point out RAVEC might have something to say on this matter - it seems very out of kilter for the sort of protection non-working Royals are believed to routinely receive.

Now imagining a video clip of their gardens and grounds, camera panning along the bushes of unpicked fruit, then coming to rest on an empty chicken coop, with a wooden sign saying 'Archie's Chick Inn' now lying in the dust...

When was the last OW interview? I think I must have missed that one.

I assume they are referring to Oprah's look back with Vanity Fair at different parts of her career last month. It's on YouTube. She looks at H+M about 15 minutes in, talks about it having been cancelled a lot and it taking place near her in Montecito (2021) The main clip used talks about her clarifying Meghan was "silenced" by the palace
https://youtube.com/shorts/_XhlIiObQzM?is=vHcY39oiQTwgzoLZ
Then Oprah goes on to waffle about a Clinique purchase, the point of which is if you want privacy, don't go out. "but it must be different if you're royalty" (nearest we get to any shade).
She didn't actually react to the interview that much and say how she feels about it now. We really didn't get much from her. 15.08/transcript available.

Kipperandarthur · 20/08/2026 16:12

They are certainly a duo that keeps the media full of fodder to spew on a regular basis.

But this is one serious turnaround if ever there was one. It's extremely hard to marry up the narrative of everything that has been said and all the dirty washing that has been aired in public, with this turnaround of then actively wanting to come back and live in this country.

I can completely imagine that Harry has had enough/is bored of his stateside life/misses his family, that what they thought they were going to be hasn't transpired, that Meghan has not scaled the heights she thought were rightfully hers etc etc.

BUT to persuade Meghan to return to the UK and a country that she so publically shunned previously is extremely difficult to understand.

Take into account literally everything that they have publically said - both of them - it's mighty hypocritical to then want to build a future life in the land that you fled from on a "Freedom Flight".

Yes I can see some instances of needing to build some form of return to the Royal fold (especially for Harry) prior to the demise of KC, but really to decide to educate your children and make a move back to the UK smacks of another ill thought out plan.

The media are literally going to have a field day. If H & M thought they had been subjected to unfair media coverage before ... they ain't seen nothing yet.
How is Meghan going to survive the onslaught that is inevitably coming? I can see Harry's reasons for being homesick etc, but for Meghan?

Yes this is baffling me. It may be why they've also said it's long term but not permanent. But I don't know how long they'd have to be here in the UK for it then to count legally as their residence in any future separation and parenting arrangement.

Plus surely if separation was on the cards she'd just stay put and tell Harry to go alone to spend time with his dad? That would fit better with their declared plan where he was going to return more often. It's quite the U turn to go from the battle to get security for even short visits to be possible, to 'moving back, kids registered for school already' the next month.

Starryfifty · 20/08/2026 16:21

It's absolutely permanent. They can't enrol kids into school then move them after 6 months, a year. I know HAM are selfish dimwits but even they know that's damaging for young children

Harry could have framed it as- he cannot afford to pay for the next 15 years of security over in the US for the kids but in the UK, they will be afforded something?

Starryfifty · 20/08/2026 16:24

Meg will live anywhere where she gets attention, creates drama etc. She has no close relationships in the US anyway so she's not missing that. All celeb connections gone. Serena, Jamie KL, I could go on

BigWillyLittleTodger · 20/08/2026 16:26

I don’t think a separation is imminent at all, I think this is a bulldozing attempt to get their half in half out deal, what I predict will happen is they will arrive in September and both Harry and Meghan will visit Well Child as their first “royal” visit, these “royal” visits will gather pace over the following months, the children will be introduced to public life, first day at school pictures etc. they are setting up their own court and will do absolutely everything to overshadow the RF, we know the BBC will be fawning over every ribbon they cut when actual working royals don’t even get a mention. I don’t believe either that KC knew nothing about this, he will have been involved and I think it’s his way of manipulating William that they need to be back in the fold as full time royals so they are under some form of control. I also don’t believe KC is close to the end of his life, I think his cancer is one that he will live with until the end of his natural life, I suspect he will be around for ten plus years yet.

I've snooped on some of the more popular US property sites but so far haven't seen anything that I can pinpoint as theirs. Not knowing the street it's on is a definite hindrance lol

Here you go, @AcrossthePond55: 765 Rockbridge Rd, Montecito, CA 93108

I'm not sure if it'll turn up on listings though - surely more likely to be sold off market, though if it's true that it was for sale for ages before they bought it that might reduce the possible interesst

AcrossthePond55 · 20/08/2026 14:45

@jeffgoldblum Thank you so much. I think my separation from DH (after 38 years) is a tale that truly shows that we never know where life may take us and that even the most (apparently) rock solid marriage can develop fatal cracks.

@AcrossthePond55 I’m sorry if this is out of place but I just wanted to say me too and that I hope you are as okay as can be.
