I suspect M also sees the Cotswolds (as well as it being beautiful) as the Montecito of the UK given the preponderance of celebrities who live there. Doesn't Ellen have two houses there - perhaps they are borrowing one for a while as per the Canadian / Californian moves 😊 (I don't know this , so no-one say it is true , just I suspect they may have a wealthy friend or two to help them over the move. ) Or they've found lovely house to rent. I also think sensible newspapers will not say even if they know.

Thanks @ShamedBySiri that interview was really interesting & I'd agree quite the ring of truth about it too

Well then. One swoop. All non working royals lose titles.

IIRC MW hasn't lost all his titles. He was permitted to put out a puff statement on his own behalf in which he gave the impression it was his own decision not to continue using them. It would require legislation to remove them and no-one seems to have the appetite for that.

C3 stripped him of 'HRH' and 'Prince' but that's all he was able to do without recourse to parliament. He is however still using the HRH as seen on boxes relating to his removal from Royal Lodge and apparently his staff are still required to address him as 'sir' 🙄

I suppose it boils down to the possibility of Bea, Euge, Archie and Lili no longer being known as HRH's or prince/princess but like MW, Mr and Mrs Harold's peerages are safe unless and until it's decided to formally remove them through an act of parliament.

The Nile Gardiner interview was interesting. I’m very curious about what Harry said in his visa application. Apparently lying in the application is a federal offence so in order to be accepted by the US, he must have been untruthful about his past drug use. I haven’t read spare but I understand he was quite open about his fondness for certain substances.

The visa stuff is very interesting. Various parties have fought tooth and nail to keep it hidden and succeeded. Why?

Plus I was reading yesterday that there could also be some sort of tax implication tied to a six year stay in the US.

I doubt the Prince of England is keen to heap more expense onto his stretched purse.

The British press absolutely wouldn’t - and if a parent tried to sell a photo (which I would imagine carries the risk of their child being asked to leave the school) - no paper would publish the pictures. How often do you get pictures of the Wales’ kids - although from all accounts they take part in normal sporting events outside their schools so would be easy to snap?

There have been a couple of photos taken on i-phones of the Wales children out and about (i.e. with Kate at an ice-cream van after school, Kate watching George play sports) but none have ever been published by the UK media. I don’t think even the footage of William dancing at Taylor Swift was published here - the media just picked up the selfie with Taylor that was put on their instagram instead. Such photos tend to get circulated on social media however, and are then picked up by the overseas press. Which could well happen with Harry and Meghan, of course,

StrawberryWasp · Today 11:46

What if he didnt lie on his visa application? What if he was honest and given preferential treatment? Who would that fall back onto?

It's amazing that he was so stupid to talk all about his drug taking in his book whilst on a visa in the USA. I guess he believed he was above any concerns, or never believed Trump would get elected?

We've known things haven't been going for them, but it's really becoming clear how badly they've gone: ANL payments, visa status challenged, Sentebale case looming, RAVEC reviews failing, As Ever failing, no more netflix.
It's a bloody disaster. Of their own making.

JSMill · Today 11:52

I saw the pictures of W dancing at Wembley. There have also been pictures of him and George at the football but these are public events so it’s not an invasion of privacy.
I think H and M are going to either start taking their dcs to public events as they are envious of the popularity of the Wales’ children or they will create drama about keeping their dcs private and about their security. Who knows with those two.

StrawberryWasp · Today 11:53

IF the children are going to the same school as the Tindall children I would imagine the Tindalls are mightily pissed off.

They probably try to keep their kids as normal and low key as possible, and now suddenly their cousins who are part of an international circus arrive at their school bringing attention to them as well.
And what do the Tindall kids do at school around these newly arrived estranged cousins? It's going to be awkward for the kids: we saw your granddad at Christmas why weren't you there? We've been on holiday in scotland with your other cousins you've never met, but you couldnt come because our parents dont talk to your parents etc etc?

Feels like unecessarily dragging the Tindall kids into complex family dynamcs.

I think they are going to do both.

In factI tink this helps Meghan as she was stuck in a bind with the kids on instagram. She couldn't sudeenly start showing their faces, and had no resaon to take them a to a public event in the USA. But in the UK they'll find some events of the type that royal kids go to and they can then reveal/ showcase their own kids at last.

They'll then still make a drama about their privacy, whilst the press never prints any photos of the kids private time.

Renting Ellen's unsellable and overpriced house would actually be a good idea for both parties. Buying it wouldn't.

But who knows especially as I don't think it's even been confirmed they're going to the Cotswolds.

It would be hilarious if they ended up in the house I vaguely remember Charles offered them when they first married.

Could they stay at Highgrove for the initial period? After all, KC is rarely there and even then, has one or two other places he could decamp to for the duration?

The way to do Christmas is to give them lock them up in the cottage on the estate that used to be made available for Sarah Ferguson so that she could see the children at Christmas.
Invite the children over for a private children’s tea party. Which won’t include the Wales children as the Wales’s will be at the Middletons.

They can come to Church and say their general confession “I have done those things I ought not to have done and I have left undone those things I ought to have done”. Walk back.
Send some cold turkey over with a flunky.
And send them packing.

Don’t you have to be invited to spend Christmas? I would say “oh we thought you were seeing Megan’s family”.

Why would anyone, especially the Wales and Camilla and her family be expected to spend Christmas with that pair. They are truly unbelievable if they think they would be welcomed.

BillyBites · Today 12:21

It would be better not to invite them at all rather than banish them to an estate cottage with a list of rules as to what/when they can turn up to events.
That would be mean and rude and I don’t think KC is. I know it happened to Sarah Ferguson but that, in my opinion, was wrong too.

Catching up.

I don't want to live in a country where the monarch or Prime Minister can stop a private individual from going anywhere or saying anything political. The Biden story proves what I've been banging on about for sometime, that no one with actual power thinks that the Sussexes represent anyone beyond themselves and that politicians will never give attention to Sussex celebrities at the expense of their relationship with the UK and the monarchy.

There is no need for dramatic interventions, a quiet statement, as was released by the Foreign Office when they went to Nigeria, reminding countries of their status is all that is needed if the government thinks there may be confusion. Harry visits Ukraine to represent Invictus not the UK, that's clear.

Calls for him to be silenced or restricted in some way inflate his importance. He is less influential than Angelina Jolie on the world stage and those who operate at that level recognise this.

Agree with this entire post (as so often, @MrsLeonFarrell) but most especially with this:

I don't want to live in a country where the monarch or Prime Minister can stop a private individual from going anywhere or saying anything political.

People don't seem to have a clue what they're asking for.

The Kimg spends most free weekends at Highgrove.
It’s the home he loves the most- and Birkhall on the Balmoral estate.

Well, it makes a change to it all being Trump's fault!

Ah OK. I stand corrected.
Scrap that plan then!

bluegreygreen · Today 12:35

It also belongs to the Duchy of Cornwall, not the King (he rents it from the Duchy).

Even if the King wanted to do that (which he wouldn't for the reason above) he would have to check with William.

Xmas will be a disaster. A firm no to the Sandringham walk and Catherine carol service. If KC facilitates this then he's more of an enabler than I thought

GoodnessGraciousMeh · Today 12:36

I honestly can't see them attending Sandringham , Balmoral or any of the family gatherings. They just won't be welcome.

I have no doubt he lied but his arrogance and hubris by putting it in his book, he assumed because as he is Prince of England of whatever he refers himself to, he'd get away with it

I agree with this.

KC may meet up with them privately, but they aren’t going to be invited to family events. Instead they will flood the media with their endless shite, as they are doing at the moment, and make it all about them anyway.

They haven’t even arrived and I’m already absolutely sick of them. Heaven knows how Catherine must feel. I hope she is ignoring all the newspapers and is out walking on the hills with her children, enjoying the fresh air and thinking of other things.

Puzzledandpissedoff · Today 12:41

MrsFinkelstein · Today 10:42

I can see KC managing H&M in a similar way as he does AMW.

Private meetings, no photos.

So if it's Sandringham at Christmas it's announced they're invited, but they don't do the public church walk. I think there's a back exit that's not public?

I get the rationale, MrsF, but can you even imagine the uproar if they were expected to sneak into church - or anywhere else - unseen?
Once again we'd have shrieks of "racism", "they've learned nothing" and all the rest from those who can focus on nothing else

Anyway, do we yet know when they're supposed to be here, so that we can find out if this is all a load of rubbish or not? I'm more than willing to be proved wrong, but will still believe it when I see it
