Do you think Meghan has dusted off her Rolodex and called Netflix to suggest that there’s viewing figures in “Meghan’s Cotswold Farm” or somesuch?

There is no way on this earth that Meghan is going to live as a private individual. The pair of them will be a complete pain.

Musing on Archie and Lily… I watched a documentary in which a family who lived abroad tried to foist their son on the cousins who holidayed in their Isle of Wight place. Yep, Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s grandchildren - and the ostracised cousin became the Kaiser - the programme sort of suggested half the reason for the War was for revenge on his mean cousins!

I hope so! Meghan with a succession of bemused friends-she-hardly-knows being instructed on how to treat foot rot and then drinking to their hostess in elderflower champagne! It writes itself 😂

But will A and L be seeing the Wales when they live in England? It will be even more difficult to explain why they still arent seeing them if they live near to each other.

HAM will push for this and then narrative is, Shame on William, the poor little hamlets, etc

If I were Will and C, I wouldn't have HAM within pissing distance of their kids and that includes the hamlets.

Puzzledandpissedoff · Yesterday 10:57

In the meantime what do we think will happen to the Montecito monstrosity?

I don't know, @CathyorClaire, but it's notable that it's owned by a trust rather than just in their own names, which raises many questions

If the separation which many are expecting comes to pass it'll clearly be way too big for Meghan to live in alone, so it would doubtless become part of the negotiations, but again time will tell

And on various comments about Charles having "stated" he'll prioritise the Walses, he's done no such thing - or at least not on record. Like so much else the Times article is all sources and "it's understood that"

I know this is probably silly, but with no firm statements from any of them I still have a small hope this is more manifesting from H&M and won't actually happen, but who knows?

Interesting it is owned by a Trust🤔

Funny, no leaks from HAM regarding their job ideas in the UK. More grifting I guess

It seems to have gone very quiet on both sides now. I wonder what's being said in either camp Sussex or the RF in response to this?
And I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Anne's or Sophie's offices!

Starryfifty · Yesterday 11:39

Why is security even an issue? It has been made clear that they are private citizens. I'm an Irish taxpayer so I could be missing something here

Recklessismymiddlename · Yesterday 11:47

So if they aren’t to be working royals, how are there fans spinning their return? As it’s obvious, it can’t be that the RF, are in desperate need of their return?

Starryfifty · Yesterday 11:50

Will Meg get her apology that H was insisting on a while ago ?

Archive link to 'Balmoral summit' story https://archive.is/RjI3u

The only reference to a Balmoral summit is in the headline and first line of the story - effectively the news of H&M's return has broken as the rest of the family are in Balmoral on holiday.

It seemed a bit more definitive in the Rebecca English story, @Puzzledandpissedoff - at least I'm hoping so!

Had no idea it was owned by a trust- what would be the reasons for that? My assumption would be avoiding taxes...

I feel so bad for William. Family fall outs are bad enough but played against the background of a,world stage when you have just sorted out your heart and mind is just unbelievable.
And of course Harry will be looking to be a part of the RF again without any consideration of the hurt or damage he has done.

The Prince of Wales looks towards the Duke of Sussex. Both are wearing blue suits and ties.

Will Harry's return heal deep-rooted rift with William?

The Prince of Wales remains in no mood to forgive and forget. The hurt he feels lingers.

I can’t imagine any divorce is imminent - what on earth would be in it for Meghan? As it stands, returning to the UK gives her an opportunity - more coverage, invitations etc. Things had completely dried up in the US.

I expect Montecito will be sold; it will be far too expensive to maintain as well as a substantial property (estate?) in a desirable part of the country here.

MaturingCheeseball · Yesterday 12:28

Incidentally, what is the view on all this of the Sussex Squad? All I’ve seen from Supporters on here is “leave them alone” type posts; I wonder what their spin is now given that the UK is a dismal racist place and life is all wonderful in Montecito with Doria.

Why? What does what someone else decides to do have anything to do with Charles?

Because he's going to enable them by funding their lifestyle. No one believes he just found out on Sunday. I'm sure he knows everything about the vi

BigWillyLittleTodger · Yesterday 12:32

Recklessismymiddlename · Yesterday 07:07

Those two are going to be setting up a rival court. AMW could be contained. These two, no chance. The media and the BBC will love it while giving zero coverage, to the actual working royals.

They should have been stripped of their titles, while they had their chance of it in the US. Now they are back, it’s too late.

Totally agree, this mess is down to KC, he didn’t even take them off the Royal website the most basic and easy thing he could have done and he chose not to.

Asset protection can be one reason, Noodledog, and depending on who the trustees are there's also the possibility of other types of control, it's another thing that'll probably never be clear

And yes, @bluegreygreen, Rebecca English's piece did seem a bit "firmer" than some, but with no actual statement from anyone directly concerned I'm still not assuming anything
Silly, perhaps, but we've been here before with H&M stories, and a lot has yet to come to light

It’s terrible for William @MrMarkhamsFanClub
He is going to be under so much pressure to relent and he really needs to stay strong on this to protect Catherine and the children.

I posted on a previous thread that unkind as it may seem, and through no fault of the children, he simply cannot let them in his life, even without their parents in attendance (eg nanny brings them over).

George is an extremely good looking 13 year old, it won’t be long before the press are slathering over any snippet related to his friendships and private life.
Then there is Catherine’s health, which is likely to still be a worry as anyone who has recovered from cancer knows. At this point she will still be having regular check ups, trying not to worry every time she has a stomach pain or a headache or back pain. They simply can’t have stray children around who may pick up snippets of conversations or meet friends within the circle and go home and either innocently repeat things or get them winkled out by Mummy dearest.

William lives by trust, discretion and privacy. He will be teaching his children the same. Break that trust and you are out of the inner or even the outer circle.
Now more than ever he (and the family) need that
protection.

Taxes, particularly Inheritance Tax, will be one explanation for a Trust. Trusts may also protect the initial assets from being frittered away, from being reduced by divorce etc.

Another way is to own assets e.g houses, yachts, planes within a limited company structure. The assets need staff e.g. pilots, deck hands, housekeepers etc. to maintain and run/operate them. There are also tax advantages.

Trusts and limited companies for asset management are expensive to set up and run. The tax advantages can be complex and dependent on the Government not making unfavourable changes in the future so they are normally reserved for the very wealthy.

The RF have access to the best legal and financial advice and given how young H and W were when Diana sadly died I would have expected the MIG to have put the right framework in place to protect their inheritances.

I really hope we don't see first day of school photos from the Sussexes. The Wales family do them as part of the social contract between monarchy and public. The Sussexes have no constitutional role, like the Tindalls, Yorks and Edinburghs, none of whose children are seen except at Christmas going to church.

Oh they will, they already release birthday photos they won’t be able to resist a picture of the hamlets in their British boaters. They are setting up their own “court” and the hamlets are useful chess pieces in their Machiavellian games.

The most coherent argument that Sussex squad reddit has come up with so far seems to be that Charles' death is imminent, H needs to ensure that C has the best people around him and M is selflessly returning as his loyal support, ignoring her own traumatic past in Salty Island because of her pure, caring soul and generous spirit

I posted previously - the Sunday after H&M’s Friday meeting with Charles the local vicar (who Charles is known to be very fond of) chose the theme of warring brothers and reconciliation for the service. Prodigal son and the story of Jacob and Esau.
It’s more than possible that Charles had been in touch with him either before or soon after the meeting.
The message is going out. Anyone here attend Crathie Church at Balmoral? I should be interested in how the services there are going.
