Do you think Meghan has dusted off her Rolodex and called Netflix to suggest that there’s viewing figures in “Meghan’s Cotswold Farm” or somesuch?

There is no way on this earth that Meghan is going to live as a private individual. The pair of them will be a complete pain.

Musing on Archie and Lily… I watched a documentary in which a family who lived abroad tried to foist their son on the cousins who holidayed in their Isle of Wight place. Yep, Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s grandchildren - and the ostracised cousin became the Kaiser - the programme sort of suggested half the reason for the War was for revenge on his mean cousins!

Actually taking a part in East Enders might be the ideal route back to redeeming her public image.

Get a part as a single mother, working as a market trader, stick at it for 5 years. Use Meghan Markle as her credit.
The public see her: prepared to work hard, using a professional skill, ditching her delusions of grandeur, not living off her title, working with normal people every day, showing through her work an understanding of the lives of normal British people, commitment to role.

It would be excellent for her. If she could do it. Which she can't because she wouldn't debase herself, and it would require serious acting and long term commitment.

She wouldn't be able to do the accent.

I am now thinking they may have started their 'coming home' documentary whilst they were here this summer, possibly with the kids at Diana's grave, that would be the big money shot.

BasiliskStare · Yesterday 09:07

@LaMarschallin - That Tamworth article is very very funny - Never lived there in my life , not sure I've ever been there, but it made me giggle. Thank you

Lockupyourbiscuits · Yesterday 09:19

I was surprised Meghan has agreed to move and then I remembered they spent a week with Earl Spencer , how fabulously wealthy he is and how many times he’s been married...

I don't think he's wealthy enough for Meg

Money and revenge is the perfect combo 👍

I really don’t believe KC will let them become working royals in any capacity.

He is undoubtedly a loving father but he isn’t stupid, he is very much aware of his responsibility to protect the monarchy and he is also a very cautious man unlike his wayward son.

I fully expect H&M to do all they can to be pretend royals and my god I feel for the Wales and Camilla but ultimately H&M are irrelevant to the line of succession, irrelevant to the role of our actual monarchy and this is what will kill H with his being here and therefore close enough to really feel his irrelevance at close quarters.

As for M, well if she will be partly living at their “international bases” (the hubris!) then I think we all know that distance is frequently the death knoll of relationships.

I have always said that H would never / could never leave her because he is so utterly dependent on her but if she is going to be absent regularly and he is back on home turf he will start to form other support networks so perhaps this might change.

From M’s side it seems strange to announce she won’t be with her beloved fox full time.
Is she not so keen now his finances are fizzling out and his image is tarnished, albeit thanks in fair part to her.
Is this the start of her moving on?

JoanChitty · Yesterday 09:40

I don’t believe for a minute she’s got an acting role. Aging blowjob / pizza ‘girl’, that’s their PR.
The fact is they have failed in the USA and no one wants to be associated with them. They have no talent and so it’s back to the place and people they have both insulted. There are endless articles that they will eventually be reinstated as working Royals I don’t believe that. The Palace deny this and say nothing has changed. They appear to have cosied up to Charles Spencer who loathes the Windsors so that won’t go down well.
i do think Harry has had time to reflect how much he has hurt his brother. Perhaps he realised how William was right about so much but he (Harry) didn’t listen and just continued on his hot headed way. Maybe the first baby step is to move to the same country. I think it was a shock to him that William has carried on and thrived without having him in his life, that William didn’t need him and is content and happy with his life and family around him.
William is the future and there is no place for Harry in it.

Very sensible post.

Thanks for the DM and Times links.

I'm more than intrigued by the 'more to come' hints in both. Hopefully we won't have long to wait. Personally I think shiftiness around money will be a massive part of the story.

In the meantime what do we think will happen to the Montecito monstrosity?

It can't be left unattended either in terms of security or potential deterioration to the fabric of the building so who's footing the bill for that?

JSMill · Yesterday 09:48

I will add that talk of M having an acting job here is to make it look there is a ‘pull’ factor for her to come here rather than the ‘push’ factor that everything she did over the last five years in the US failed.

LaMarschallin · Yesterday 09:51

I'm loving the idea of Meghan returning to acting in a project presumably big enough to make moving the whole family back to "Salty Island"*, and having to endure the massive loss of face caused by such a move, reasonable.
Who on earth would be stupid enough to throw money at a project involving an actress whose only success was in "Suits"?
She's no Jennifer Aniston or Gillian Anderson.

Or maybe the Miss Havisham project has had a brilliant rewrite, Netflix have exercised their "1st refusal" option and Meghan is going to star as Miss H?

*I love "Salty Island". So much better than bland, tasteless Montecito.

Starryfifty · Yesterday 09:53

Acting job my arse. Not a chance. However, Meg is a cockroach. She'll latch onto some grubby, wealthy , vacuous bunch who are her new "gal pals" and will use them for whatever she needs.

Nothing to do with their kids interests either. This pair don't see beyond themselves and that unfortunately includes their kids. They need royal adjacency and will trot around on faux royal walkabouts etc

BunnyBunbunbun · Yesterday 10:02

All these "sources" that the tabloids and the Substack, YouTube, X, etc. accounts constantly refer to. They know sod all. They never saw the great return coming, for a start.

Thedom · Yesterday 10:14

Starryfifty · Yesterday 08:57

They were becoming irrelevant in the US which is their worst fear. They will generate a lot of interest in UK. Tipping off the paps when they out and about with hamlets. School run, etc. Unfortunately the only way to contain them is getting them back in as working royals.

I agree, irrelevant in the US and, even worse, in the circles they wanted to be seen in.

The Oz trip, with lack of an interested audience, Geneva and even Harry’s trips to the UK, shows how irrelevant they are. I think they will be working like crazy to rebuild their relevance in the UK, try to turn the narrative of the most unpopular royals around, if they can do that reset they will shoot of again to try to monetize and generate interest in their brand. That’s if they can avoid a divorce.

Even though they have incredible name recognition, it’s for all the wrong reasons. But things must be really bad on every front for them to come back to the place they claimed destroyed them, unless after all the failures, they have now been left with the realization ‘it’s not you, it’s me’

It would be pretty cool if Meghan pitched up on Eastenders as Kathy Beale’s long lost American niece - with a heart of gold - escaping an abusive situation across the pond, maybe.
That would keep her busy. I’m pretty sure she could handle the acting, but even if she was rubbish at it viewing figures would still go through the roof!

DancingFerret · Yesterday 10:24

I wonder whether we'll finally see non-curated full face photos of the children? Whatever happens, 'the return of the Sussexes' is an absolute gift to South Park.

Agree.

That’s two papers. The DM and the Telegraph both saying there’s more to come out.

Which makes sense- because no one can make head nor tail of this. It doesn’t make any sense even if you factor in money/mental health/ill health/visa issues/family bonds. The solution isn’t return to the UK.

It’s really unstable behaviour.

Darkershadeofpink · Yesterday 10:36

I think Rebecca English and recent articles are alluding to eventually divorce. And Archie is 7+ age isn’t he so good timing for them to get into English schools which is all H has ever known and probably what M aspires to. I’ve long wondered too what the kids are saying about their heritage and when can we go and see grandad, uncle Will and Kate etc. Certainly my youngest would be astute enough to realise he wasn’t seeing these famous relatives of his and that might have given them a kick to also get back over here. It probably also makes sense to get ahead of the ANL costs order and spin the narrative before they lose a great deal. M wouldn’t be coming back by choice so I think this is a soft landing for a separation and divorce. He doesn’t seem happy and I am sure I’ve read shes grtting out there socialising

bluegreygreen · Yesterday 10:43

I suspect the reveal of the children's faces will be a big spread in one of the glossy magazines in the new house, a couple of days before school starts.

Treylime · Yesterday 10:46

But will A and L be seeing the Wales when they live in England? It will be even more difficult to explain why they still arent seeing them if they live near to each other.
