GBNews reporting Harry and Megan moving back to the UK

GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

But the taxpayer will foot their security 24/7 bill.

I don't think they will - as working RF members do not get that.

But they will get some and that will be paid for by taxpayers not them.

However for security reasons they get offered somewhere to live maybe ?

I'm getting sucked in now 😉so I wonder if their place in Portugal is anywhere near Eugenie's and Jack's pile in Alentejo? All the kids could play together eh?

This sounds much like what I was taught in an English school. It was a broad mix and certainly much of it was not particularly complimentary towards the UK monarchy or government. I suggest you read a bit more about the curriculum in our education system. As I said, the UK has over a thousand years of history and it’s simply not possible to cover everything in detail.

Being cynical [but usually correct] I believe they have burned through a lot of their money. Not all, but enough to make them realise they won't be able to run with the seriously wealthy Americans. Assuming the seriously wealthy/famous Americans actually wanted them, which they have very clearly demonstrated they don't!

They're running out of funds, they're not on the Christmas card list of any A Listers, no one cares about what they have to say and the CEO of Netflix has openly derided them as a pair of grifters. I guess Teachers here need a refresher then in their degrees. As history, by its very nature involves knowledge into key events that occured nationally and globally.

If one is being actually cynical, then they need money and being adjacent to the Royals to be relevant again. I won't be surprised if they spend a couple of years here and then do another about turn (and try to sell their story again). That's the only thing that has ever made them money.

Where is Doria in all of this? She can't move permanently to the UK as UK laws on bringing family/grandparents over is quite strict. She won't be eligible for a visa other than a tourist one. So she can be here for six months a year at most and no more. After having been the only grandparent who has been around those kids, I'm sure this will be bitter-sweet for her.

The thing I don't understand is the drama from the previous visit. They were coming, they weren't coming, only he was coming, then she was coming with the kids but she wouldn't appear in public. So much drama. And all from their side with zero provocation. And now suddenly they are moving lock stock and barrel to the same country? Literally doesn't make sense.

Security arrangements for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their return to the UK are a "private matter," Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said.

If M I’d see this as an opportunity for a glamorous ‘three way’ kind of life. Cash in on business ops in UK that being royal adjacent brings. Get boarding established at best schools. Pop off to Portugal when UK based for odd month & then back to Montecito with cash for perma sunshine & R & R.

Why should they, such a wealthy couple net worth £40/60 million have help from UK workers who start paying taxes on earnings of a meager £12,570 per year?

I wouldn't be surprised if the last minute random decision/announcement was an attempt to force KC's hand on security/funding/bringing them back to the fold. It failed when they left (this dramatic announcement), it failed when they came back last month (BP said no, they met the King under his conditions and the constant back and forth was just foolish), and I wonder if a second set of drama will now erupt.

The govt will say no security as non working Royals. Suddenly this will come as a shock to them. They will say they won't move. Then they will beg King Charles to intervene. Sussex Squad will paint him as the bad man refusing to protect his grandkids who are only moving here to be closer to him. Then as September nears the drama will keep spiralling. Will they have guards in school, what about the other parents. There will be threats not to move here. We won't hear a peep from William and Kate who will suddenly be busy on a long list of last minute appointments. And then they will still come as planned but with some additional drama.
