GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

With all the resources they have, to have failed at carving a life for yourself in California must be humiliating.

They must be broke and bored to death in Montecito, and need to reactivate the royal connection for a year or so. Then they'll be back to Montecito for another book, interview, tv programme, etc.

The utter humiliation must be huge as it’s been played out on the world stage but it doesn’t surprise me in the least

I applaud them for returning for one reason anyway, at least their kids won't be subject to the threat of a school shooting every day of the week. What an awful country the US is where kids have to do shooting drills. For that alone H+M are to be commended. And that country is gone to the dogs anyway. It might improve when Trump is gone, but the rot has set in.

Actually you are factually incorrect, and those scandals, horrendous as they were, were rife in England.

Feel free to get back in your box if contributing invoked that feeling in you.

You do you.

No doubt they happened elsewhere, that's not really the point you made though is it? The Church & our government were behind these atrocities here

Anyway I've said my piece to you, lean ar aghaidh

Justdancevance · Today 12:09

There is more to it, I guess we will find out in time

Obviously their kids would have gone to private schools in the US like other wealthy kids, so not at risk of shooting.

Agree with this

Ronan O’Gara had his hands in his pocket meeting the Queen, I don’t remember him being dragged out the room. If the Christian brothers had been in charge, it might have been a different story

He was right to. I had never said people end up in the stocks.

Just that they shouldn't bow down to other people.

Justdancevance · Today 12:11

Perhaps head off to craicnet jf you want to discuss Irish history as it’s derailing now

This is a thread about the RF.

Discomfort listening to accurate history of the monarch is a thing

Agreed. Probably the purpose. It is working.

The sentiment is irrelevant. They still bow/curtsey.

Well it isn’t is it !
But you know that.

Ooh I’ve just remembered (mind you it was over 30 years ago), I used to bow on entering or leaving court or to the judge.., I’m sure there are other instances. But to a royal personage. No, my republican parents and grandparents, would have my guts for garters.

Slight derail so apologies, but got me thinking, I and my DCs, used to attend Greek school on a Saturday morning and Wednesday evening to learn the language, culture, history etc, I know my friends used to go to Turkish and Italian schools etc, was there an Irish school to learn about the history if you lived in the uk?

AoifeRua · Today 12:17

Monty36 · Today 12:14

It doesn't matter why. There is always a reason as to why people do anything.

They still curtsey. And curtseying to the crown/king is the same thing.

Being subservient to other humans is embarrassing.

FortnamsTea · Today 05:22

@JustMyView13 Indeed. Good for the children. Nice for KC3 & Harry to have time while they can.

Agreed. Since they're no longer active working royals I don't see why it should matter to any of us where they live and how their family life is managed.

They're not here yet, Benji (perhaps wishful thinking on my part!!), but if they do come I agree about the colossal humiliation. They might even have been able to spin it if it wasn't for their endless ridiculous claims about what they suffered, but people remember all too well and in light of those claims a return makes no sense at all

As said though, the humiliation will also be shared by those who were so loud in cheering their escape to "freedom" and from the "racist hellhole" here, and we're seeing the results of that right now

It is not compulsory if you think it subservient.
To bow and curtsey in acknowledgement of the Crown and the role it is in society.
We had a Republic once. It didn’t work out well. So we took the Crown back into our society.

Justdancevance · Today 12:22

Trump is hardly a ringing endorsement for a republic

So You're denying the Irish government and Catholic church in Ireland had anything to do with it? It didn't happen I Irish soil by Irish people...?

Justdancevance · Today 12:22

He’s more likely to lock you up for not showing him the appropriate respect than Charles.

Grammarnut · Today 12:23

Mylovelygreendress · Yesterday 22:14

Nah , they are too self centred for that . I suspect it’s for financial reasons .

I agree. I doubt they want to see Charles but he has given permission. I think its financial. They seem to have run through a lot of the 50M Harry had from his mother and great-grandmother - how do you run through 50M?! - and they are not making it in the States. Not counted as A-listers, not invited to anything much, Meghan having been a bit pushy, and running a house in Montecito with no stable income is becoming difficult to impossible.
Also, private schooling is probably cheaper here.

There’s a lot of back peddling now on social media from the fans

Lugol · Today 12:24

None of us know them.

Good for them. I hope they take it by storm and show will and Kate what it means to be a popular figure.

I hope you get well soon.

HectorPlasm · Today 12:25

They've got the bum's rush from the US - they've run out of gullible morons to grift off

The world might improve when Trump is gone. Or at least petrol prices go down.

I think she means it happened in the UK too (which it did). That makes it worse though and doesn’t let anyone off the hook.
