GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

I think it sounds a bit self-inflicted but not to be too tough it can be hard if it’s loneliness in a new country causing issues.

@AoifeRuaI hope you can think about finding better connections at least for some time. There are plenty of people who won’t talk about the RF but other stuff instead.

Plenty of friends, and a full life.

But I wouldn't want to live here. For other reasons I have stated.

Merely an observation on the obsession with a rf who do nothing, and hide wrongdoing

Bizzare.

Noodledog · Today 11:52

AoifeRua · Today 11:48

Precisely. Nobody in Ireland gives a toss about them.

Well, they seem to take up an awful lot of space in your head.

None of us know them.

Good for them. I hope they take it by storm and show will and Kate what it means to be a popular figure.

Have you been at the cooking sherry ?

I think money is very much an object. That's very likely why they are returning to 'Salty Isle'.

Objectively they are rich, they have 2 properties with the one in Portugal being worth millions too. However, they need/want a limitless supply.

Mylovelygreendress · Yesterday 22:14

Nah , they are too self centred for that . I suspect it’s for financial reasons .

I agree. This recent court case has cost plenty $$$.

They will be miserable here though with the press the way it is. They would be well advised to choose again.

Not sure where you get that from.

Anybody, including Kate, bows to Charles, so does any person he meets.

I’ve met him and I didn’t bow or curtsy. I wasn’t thrown in the tower for disrespect.

Catholic Church & our State actually....

Jaysus I was loathe to get involved in your posts but this was a step to far

Actually you are factually incorrect, and those scandals, horrendous as they were, were rife in England.

Feel free to get back in your box if contributing invoked that feeling in you.

You do you.

Justdancevance · Today 11:55

The Catholic Church and Irish society were the ones locking away mothers and babies.

These threads have been quite peaceful after the mass exodus with Kategate.

I hope mumsnet are watching and keep an eye on the attempts to rile up posters and send the threads back to mass deletions and bullying claims.

In other people's heads rather.

I think what you’re putting out is influencing what you’re getting back

IME this can often happen, @EasternStandard, and when a visceral loathing of Britishness such as the PP's is involved we might even say it's bound to.
Nor do the many falsehoods help, such as non-existent "chimp as a bride" images and claims that Irish history isn't taught in schools (for which I suppose we should read "they don't say what I want them to")

The parallels with H&M's behaviour are obvious, in that they've made their hatred of the UK and its institutions very clear and lied again and again ... and yet now it's being said they're coming back?

Make it make sense, somebody Confused

I replied to somebody about the history they brought up about the RF.

I pointed out the true and accurate history of that history and that it isn't taught in UK schools.

I'm in Wales - my DC history has included a lot of welsh history obvioulsy and some of that oppression by the English.

History for DH and I in England tended to have local aspects - the indsutrail revolution and poor working conditions - enclosure being a thing where I was. We touched on slave trade colonial past and Irish famine - and corn laws etc but what you get taught varies across the UK - and which exam board is being used.

There's a lot of history - DS did it as GCSE of six module they did three - police and law and order , world war 2 and weinmar repblic. Year above and below did other modules on of which was medicine. It wasnlt King and Queen driven - though nether was my GCSE which was industrial revloution focused.

Most UK histroy I've learnt post school - we tend to get good documentaries in UK - some cover Ireland -not just the famine them bring christainity to north of England

Catherine curtsies to the King because she is part of the royal hierarchy. Think of it as a salute. Nobody else outside the hierarchy is expected to, or does.

I’m only posting this one response to you because this is really beginning to look like a derail.

I care little, bar the fact that human nature evidently has lost the plot by geneflecting to a family who were unelected.

Don’t be ashamed of admitting you care. The proof is for all to see on this thread . Out and proud i say!

It is called a free world and the right to change your mind.

Are we bound to stick to a decision made years previous?

They can go back and forth between any country, in which countless people do.

AprilMizzel · Today 12:01

I do wonder if there will be lots more knocking the UK.

Though if they are living here perhaps they'll have more sense as the US market doesn't seem to want them so pandering might stop.

Benjithedog · Today 12:01

AoifeRua · Today 11:56

In other people's heads rather.

No just yours

Gleba · Today 12:01

With all the resources they have, to have failed at carving a life for yourself in California must be humiliating.

They must be broke and bored to death in Montecito, and need to reactivate the royal connection for a year or so. Then they'll be back to Montecito for another book, interview, tv programme, etc.

Edited

But it is a curtsey.

Members of the public do it.

Nobody should be bowing to ordinary people.

Do you think?

I thought maybe they'd failed to get in with the monied crowd and expensive have mounted and income streams not turned up so they've headed back.

Not sure they'll get in with wh they want to here either but hadn't thought they might be trying for some royal dust before heading to US to try again.

The bow or curtsey is to the role they hold. A recognition of the Crown and role they play within it.
Not the person as an individual.

Of course. And it is less prescripted in Wales

They’ll get the kids settled into boarding IMO & divide time. I feel there’s more too this though.

Not the person as an individual.

The sentiment is irrelevant. They still bow/curtsey.

Ronan O’Gara had his hands in his pocket meeting the Queen, I don’t remember him being dragged out the room. If the Christian brothers had been in charge, it might have been a different story
