GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

I haven’t read the full thread, nor would I class myself as a “fan” of the Royals (I’m neutral - neither positive or negative)
However, the constant nastiness and negativity I see written about Harry and Megan - do they actually deserve it?? It appears a lot of people have forgotten about Caroline Flack and the effect of the media/public scrutiny on her. I feel sorry for Harry and Megan. They are not perfect (who is??) but I honestly don’t believe they deserve this amount of vitriol against them.

Really?

Being reported that they are living outside London. So Althorp, or Highgrove. They're not going to be in WIndsor as he won't want to be anywhere near his brother.

It also blows the "we're not safe here" stuff out of the water. Definitely a financial issue and being bankrolled by free accommodation by Charles, or the Spencers. Urgh. I wish they had just stayed where they were.

I thought they'd said they won't be living in a royal residence? Private home.

Benjithedog · Today 08:20

mydogisthebest · Today 08:13

According to the newspapers they are keeping the mansion and their place in Portugal so nothing for you to be so gleeful about. They won't be living in a bedsit in the UK

I thought we weren’t supposed to believe what the media had to say?

MyDeftDuck · Today 08:21

And the prodigal son returns……..think this will be interesting to say the least. How many charities are short of a patron ?

You are conveniently forgetting all the lies they have told and this is exactly why people dislike them. It’s a truth you may not like but it is the truth.

What lies? Who reported them and why? What is their motivation to say they were lying?

Let me explain, newspapers are dying, how do they cling to : the market they already have? Answer by appealing to the sensibilities of their core audience group. The news on Meghan, Jason Arday, the woke agenda, whatever you want to call it is predigested and repeated over and over.

Outrageous headlines about Meghan sell papers (or induce clicks).

The shit stirring has started already.

this is what it is unfortunately but I’m glad they get to spend some time.

May be. Still strange or many be magnanimous of Harry and Meghan given that the family and uk press drove M to brink of suicide. And based on Harry's recollection, Charles has never been a good dad and everything good in his life is due to his mum. Given that the UK is extremely unsafe for him and his family why come to sacrifice them? Seems too much to give for nothing. I guess he might have a few feelings for his dad and of course its a great PR move. Wouldnt want to be said that he wasnt there for his dad when he had cancer. Not saying its not altruism. Just that there are potential commercial and/or reputational benefits as well. Sounds like a nightmare for everyone including us plebs who will be inundated with gossip by Daily Heil and social media

The very fact you said they didn’t lie when their claims have continually been debunked is odd to say the least. And how remarkable that given all that’s supposed to have happened you would think they would rather do anything than return. But here they are returning.

friedaklein · Today 08:24

I never come on this board as I despise all royals, and it doesn't seem the place for a Republican.

I admit to finding H and M unintentionally entertaining though. They might get me through another heatwave. I never thought Charles would capitulate.

Do we think Meghan will do a TV series on cream teas or morris dancing?

Coinkidinki · Today 08:25

mydogisthebest · Today 08:15

I prefer them to workshy miserable Kate and William

Yes, I'm not a huge fan of either brother, but at least Harry and Meghan do something. Netflix shows about baking cakes and endless 'content creation' might not be to my taste but I'd rather see someone do that than sit on their arse all day, which is what William appears to do.

5MinuteArgument · Today 08:25

Coinkidinki · Today 08:02

The BBC piece highlights that the Sussexes "loved" spending time with the Spencers on their recent UK visit and that it's likely they will be living near Althorp.

It sounds as though they are forming an alliance. It will be interesting to see if this is reflected in Charles Spencer's soon to be released Diana memoir - my guess is that it will be strongly sympathetic to Harry and Meghan.

I hope they can continue to repair their relationship with the King - and that this move will help that. I remember the King's reported words to William and Harry shortly after the death of Queen Elizabeth: "Don't make my final years a misery." I think Harry would deeply regret it if his father were to die while their relationship was still fractured.

Whether he can ever repair his relationship with William is a different question. It's possible. Sibling relationships become more important with age, especially when a parent is in deteriorating health.

Yes, I hope they can all get along. This kind of fallout is ok when you're young but when everyone concerned is middle aged or elderly, it's a complete waste of time.

To describe what they did as a "fallout" is minimising 😂

If you look at the research, it’s clear that much of the British public is racist! That’s just a fact unfortunately.

Oh for goodness sake. 😂

Seriously, so what???

Why does anyone really are what they do? None of your business.

Aluna · Today 08:30

Sighs. The amount of fucking squawking there is going to be on here will be relentless.

I hope the vitriolic obsessives can stick to the RF forums and not bore the rest of us.

Yes, I agree, they made out they were leaving the UK because we were so racist that Meghan wasn't safe (leaving to go to the USA which I assume they thought was less racist). Now they are returning, so maybe their claims don't really stack up.

None of us know them.

Good for them. I hope they take it by storm and show will and Kate what it means to be a popular figure.

William and Kate are popular enough -- with anyone who gives a toss that is.

As for Harry and Megan their profile might seem higher as they manipulate the media - equally for those who couldn't care less.

They’ve run out of money and the reality is the Royal Family has become too small and too elderly to sustain itself going forward.

The King and Queen are in their late 70s, as is Princess Anne, and Prince Edward is in his 60s. None of the late Queen’s grandchildren are on the payroll apart from Wills and Kate. The streamlining of the royal family encouraged by Charles was done before Harry decided to leave - if Charles had only had one son in the first place, I think more of his siblings’ children would have been encouraged to be part of the Firm full time. No one wants an elderly royal family. It needs young blood to sustain itself and its ongoing popularity.

William’s kids are a good 15 - 20 years away from being full time royals, if they want to be. In that time, the older generation will die off, leaving only William and Kate to do the bread and butter work of royalty, which is cutting ribbons at various mundane events around the country. They can’t be everywhere, and once you stop being visible, you become irrelevant. They can’t risk that, otherwise us plebs will start wondering if we need them after all.

So aside from the fact that Harry and Meghan have clearly run out of money, I do wonder whether there has been a realisation from the Firm that they need to swell the ranks given the King’s health, and perhaps it’s time to start rehabilitating H&M with the public. With them living in the UK and clearly wanting to do charity and other public facing work, there is going to have to be some careful thinking about how they are positioned and who they are representing. Having Harry essentially be a freelancer running his own rival court rather than a paid member of the family is going to cause all sorts of issues and it’s just going to be easier to welcome him back into the fold and pay him a wage, even if he and William can’t bear to be in the same room as each other.

I hope they can build a life here that makes them happy and reconciles them with their family. I don’t think they’re bad people and they do seem to genuinely want to use their platform to make a difference. They’ve been badly advised and Harry is clearly very vulnerable so I certainly don’t have any ill will towards them.

mydogisthebest · Today 08:33

NoDrums · Today 00:01

Life is depressing and hard enough as it is in the UK. We don’t need this. Literally, just when you think things couldn’t get any worse. It’s so utterly grim.

What difference is it going to make to you?

Honestly this thread is pathetic. Good for them coming back here especially if it is because Charles does not have long left.

Of course stick up his arse William won't be happy nor will haggard faced Kate. Well I for one won't be that happy when workshy William is King

🤣🤣🤣

The shit stirring started long before but it went stratospheric with Oprah, Netflix and Spare.

rocklivia · Today 08:33

I thought they were living their best life in sunny Cali ? Away from salty island? Away from the racist people there? I thought she had a booming business? How strange.

I do wonder if Harry is jumping before he is pushed. It has been hinted that Trump is the reason for the move. Maybe his visa was about to be revoked. No matter the reason, i am stocking up on popcorn as the Circus is back in town.

Pullie · Today 08:33

I really hope they are not forced down our throats again with the move back. The constant commentary on such boring, unlikeable people is so very tedious.

CitizenofMoronia · Today 08:34

for lying on his visa application, it asks about drug use, he would have said no gov i dont do drugs, and then released a book trying to look like an edgelord going on about how he does drugs, brainless waste of space
