GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

Sorry but the whole Jason Arday horror scandal shows the huge extent of racism and emphasises how much of what is still thrown at M is racist. And if you can't see it, it's willful ignoring.

JA's downfall was Cambridge over-promoting him because of his colour without any due diligence. They are 100% responsible for his downfall when the bubble burst. If anyone is racist it's Cambridge.

Whaaat ? ( said in OW voice) . Catherine was endlessly followed , discussed , criticised for years as was her mother ( cabin crew > sniff>).
She has been criticised for her weight , her clothes, her hair etc . Even when the poor woman was ill we had the most horrendous accusations on MN and other places that she was faking/ dead.
Do not try to tell me that M had it worse . The RF fell over itself to welcome her in case they were accused of racism .
And look how that turned out.

Megan did have it worse. I am not particularly a fan of the media output, which doesn't sound substantially better or worse than that of other influencers/ actresses etc, but I do think that the UK media were fascinated by her and delighted in running click-worthy articles, usually hostile. It was lucrative for them, but I am sure that there was also an element of racism in all that negativity. And I can completely see why Harry would have been so on edge about it all, given what happened to his mum.

he is still undergoing treatment

So? We know that. Some people with cancer have treatment for years and years and die from other conditions.

This.
The entire situation stemmed from the fact that the RF & therefore the media were unable to cope with the fact MM was not only American/divorced, woman of colour, articulate & proficient in public speaking, more confident than Kate….
Instead of utilising the wealth of expertise accessible to the RF, they chose to permit & perpetuate the campaign of hate, based upon colour, instead of creating roles for both her & Harry which could have exploited her talents & benefited the family.
They obviously tried to remain, but ultimately it got too much.
Do I agree with all they did via Netflix & Oprah? No. But it’s easy to understand what led them to do so, though I think they have lived to regret doing both, they made their point.
Interesting this thread references how the last months for the late Queen were made hell, but everybody is quietly omitting the fact her favourite son brought far more shame & expense on the family. M&H have by no means acted perfectly, but worth remembering they did not act criminally.
I don’t know how they will navigate the already clear & high volume of hate coming their way, but really hope they & the wider RF find ways to work this out. They won’t be the only high profile family to have had problems, but I do hope the RF media machine is better managed this time around.
Anybody who actually believes race had no part to play in this is seriously deluded.

And the reasons the other royal wives didn’t get that treatment was?

If anything, the DM and its ilk fawn over Kate, Sophie and the other one who married Peter … also divorced, also not an aristocrat by birth…. As isn’t Kate, the daughter of a self made party tat seller… come on, what is it about Meghan?

Why did Meghan’s bridal bouquet put Princess Charlotte’s life in danger?

Why was Meghan responsible for deforestation by eating an avocado for breakfast?

Why was her cradling her bump so disconcerting?

Why is she accused of clinging on to Harry all the time?

Why did she upset QE by wearing the wrong colour outfit?

Why is she a “gangster straight outta Compton?

Why doesn’t she brush her kids’ hair? Or show their faces? And on and on …. Ad Infiniti…

Come on, explain it!

It’s horrible and embarrassing that a mixed heritage family couldn’t live without intense scrutiny and criticism of every move.

To be honest, I think they’re bonkers to come here. But hey, it’ll take the heat of Jason Arday’s family for a bit.

You are conveniently forgetting all the lies they have told and this is exactly why people dislike them. It’s a truth you may not like but it is the truth.

What brought that about was Cambridge lack of carrying out due diligence on a candidate who made outlandish untrue claims and he was investigated because of them. But is you want to discuss that start another thread.

I’m always gobsmacked that people get so hot under the collar about these two. They seem to live rent free in a lot of heads… I really couldn’t give a flying fig where they live. Leave them alone ffs

I know! People seem to completely lose their minds over it.

ReallyTryingToAsk · Today 08:01

Not really bothered about H&M but hope that when they do return, they just quietly get on with their lives.

No public anything, hopefully so much less, (no) media interest.

Let’s not have a huge media circus.

I’m thinking they will live in a remote castle in Scotland! 😆

Coinkidinki · Today 08:02

WillowTit · Today 07:25

they did mention the spencers on the news

The BBC piece highlights that the Sussexes "loved" spending time with the Spencers on their recent UK visit and that it's likely they will be living near Althorp.

It sounds as though they are forming an alliance. It will be interesting to see if this is reflected in Charles Spencer's soon to be released Diana memoir - my guess is that it will be strongly sympathetic to Harry and Meghan.

I hope they can continue to repair their relationship with the King - and that this move will help that. I remember the King's reported words to William and Harry shortly after the death of Queen Elizabeth: "Don't make my final years a misery." I think Harry would deeply regret it if his father were to die while their relationship was still fractured.

Whether he can ever repair his relationship with William is a different question. It's possible. Sibling relationships become more important with age, especially when a parent is in deteriorating health.

Not at all. If it was all so terrible why on earth would they be returning to it? They lied and this is something their supporters never touch on. They prefer to elevate the Markles to mythic status when in fact all they are are hypocritical grifters

On sky now.

Im not really bothered. I suspect it’s because Charles is a lot more poorly than we know and they want their children to know their grandfather.

Yes. I think sadly it's coming to the end for Charles. I actually feel sorry for Meghan. Why on earth would they come back to the UK? She was treated appallingly and will be stalked by the Dailymail. The only reason they do this is to spend some time with Charles . But I am glad they have reconciled.

I'm saying that a few people moving from country A to country B is not a story of any importance.

Just because it's on a news show does not mean it's important.

They are significant people though ? They've had a HUGE platform.

Harry's birthright son of the head of state who
Has had numerous battles in court against RAVEC, the home office who his father is head of when heost called it "an establishment stitch up" He and other wealthy individuals lost on 93/96? Allegations as claimants against ANL in an attempt to muzzle the press. Made derogatory comments about the judge - all the courts operating under his father's name.
His wife declared racist comments were made about the potential colour of the babys skin, by a senior role left this serious allegation hanging for two years then they said it was the king and the POW (who didn't like sharing her lipgloss) oh but must of been unconscious bias. Racism by a few toxic individuals left them naming the UK as racist country.

Now they are returning.
Recently heard there was more PR consultancy for Meghan to be made acceptable to the British public, suggestions were along the line of engaging in a few low key activities (probably much like camilla)

PuzzledWatermelon · Today 08:07

I haven’t read the full thread, nor would I class myself as a “fan” of the Royals (I’m neutral - neither positive or negative)
However, the constant nastiness and negativity I see written about Harry and Megan - do they actually deserve it?? It appears a lot of people have forgotten about Caroline Flack and the effect of the media/public scrutiny on her. I feel sorry for Harry and Megan. They are not perfect (who is??) but I honestly don’t believe they deserve this amount of vitriol against them.

ERthree · Today 08:07

None of us know them.

Good for them. I hope they take it by storm and show will and Kate what it means to be a popular figure.

😂

AuntieBiotics · Today 08:08

Being reported that they are living outside London. So Althorp, or Highgrove. They're not going to be in WIndsor as he won't want to be anywhere near his brother.

It also blows the "we're not safe here" stuff out of the water. Definitely a financial issue and being bankrolled by free accommodation by Charles, or the Spencers. Urgh. I wish they had just stayed where they were.

But it could also be argued that anyone who thinks as you do is seriously deluded.

Have you completely missed the Oprah interview? Spare?
Behaving disgustingly towards his ill father, brother and step mother?

None of that is race-based.

The public are not racist. They do not like the way H&M have behaved. Nothing to do with the colour of her skin.

Orangelilies · Today 08:10

They couldn't make enough in the US to pay for the lifestyle they wanted, Harry's attempt to make money through suing the newspaper group has failed and will leave him with a huge bill and his only hope of getting the money he needs is from Charles. When William is in charge of he coffers he has no chance.
They must have incredibly thick skins after all they have said about the family and the UK.

So Meghan would be following the same PR strategy as William: “engaging in a few low key activities”

no comment from W & K
rather telling

Maybe the gravy train in America has come to a juddering halt. There's only so many Netflix shows you can do before you run out of content.

I hope they settle down to some worthwhile projects and steer clear of all the drama. Harry holds Invictus very dear to him. I think maybe he's got bored living in the USA far from his family and his army and rugby pals that he used to hang out with before he met Meghan.

ERthree · Today 08:13

I wonder if they will move into Althrop and live rent free with Charles Spencer? That way MEagain could visit Diana's grave every day for a chat and she could tell the world she is the only person to tend the grave. She would love tramping round Althrop announcing herself to visitors.

I guess the lease on the mansion is up and they aren’t in a position to fund another one.

According to the newspapers they are keeping the mansion and their place in Portugal so nothing for you to be so gleeful about. They won't be living in a bedsit in the UK

Are you joking? They're both only just above Andrew in the popularity polls i.e. at the bottom.

I prefer them to workshy miserable Kate and William

It concerns me that Charles, Anne and Edward continue to carry most of the “working” function of the royals. It will be interesting to see whether William actually steps up if he becomes King.
