Are the bets on or off for an invite to Balmoral?
Will Meghan bake a humble pie for Catherine?
Let’s discuss……!

I recall seeing a pap-shot of her looking like the cat who'd got the cream. Wearing a necklace with the initials H and M. And thought then she was an attention-seeker.

I believe I saw the same shot! And thought much the same.

The engagement interview waved huge red flags for me - the audacity of her, taking control of the conversation, all the simpering and flirting. I'm a bit ancient and just thought....well, you're a right little madam aren't you?

Oh yes. Absolutely.

Mylovelygreendress · Today 18:30

I have just remembered that my then 94 year old Aunt phoned me after the engagement interview and proclaimed “ that one’s trouble !”

I’m sure you have mentioned this before mylovely? , it’s certainly ringing a bell!

Tiddlywinks63 · Today 18:35

I remember the wedding photo of them watching fireworks, photographed from behind them I swear H had his fingers crossed.
I’m another who disliked her from the start, brash, domineering and common.

thenightsky · Today 18:37

I remember Harry telling the press to leave his GF alone and I thought 'what GF?'

Wiglio · Today 18:37

There’ll be tears before bedtime was my thought watching the engagement interview where she all but sneered at her ring.
compare &contrast with W &C’s one.

I didn't. I was genuinely pleased for him and, once I actually realised she was bi-racial, pleased that this might signal a refreshing new diversifying chapter for the Royal institution. I loved watching the wedding and thought it inclusive and a great blend of cultures (although I was puzzled by the apparent lack of any family members on Meghan's side).
And then came their African tour and "those" interviews and I thought, "Dear God, what the hell is happening here? This is NOT good!!!"
And here we are.

I’m the exact same. I really thought MM was a force for good in the RF, it went pear shaped pretty quickly.

Who else had her number from the get-go

Well not me. But then I’m not interested in the Royals (believe it or not) so didn’t see any interviews or the wedding. But I did think from what others were saying that she sounded like a breath of fresh air. Especially when I heard the Fairy Liquid story, for the first time.

Thought it was great idea for them to move to Canada, live a quiet and respectful life.

And then I saw the walk about at the Canadian War graves (or similar) with poppies on. I think there was rumour they were filming for Netflix but can’t find any articles now. But as a veteran it riled me up!

And then I got sucked in. Meghan Markle fascinates me the same way Katie Price does. So off the planet and enmeshed in their own lies.

Noodledog · Today 18:58

HoldMyWine · Today 15:31

Video here, Catherine literally has to shake Meghan off her.

I can only imagine the horror W and C must have been feeling sitting there knowing they were facing decades of this.

The fact that Meghan's biggest beef with Catherine seems to have been C not looking happy about sharing lipgloss shows truly superhuman levels of restraint on Catherine's part

I liked her.
My mum - less so. She was not impressed with the ill fitting shoes and NO TIGHTS IN NOVEMBER when they got engaged.
Then the (from memory) £56k skirt from the engagement shoot at Frogmore nearly finished her off. She held back until the wedding but thought the solo performance down the aisle was odd.

Reading these threads has had me thinking back to the days when Markle first hove into view. It was obvious to me (I know, but honestly it was obvious) she was a complete fraud - and not a very nice one at that.

So many people were gushing about Harry's new "girl" - and anyone who voiced concern was immediately accused of the R word, especially by the "girl" herself who traded heavily on her biracial heritage, despite describing herself as Caucasian on her CV.

Who else had her number from the get-go?

The very first time I saw or heard of her was on a news report, she and Harry made their first public appearance together at Invictus and I remember feeling quite excited as she looked really on trend with her ripped jeans and French tuck, the report also showed her signing autographs at another event because apparently she was a celebrity in the US and I distinctly remember thinking she’s clearly used to being a public figure she will adapt really well to royal life if they get married 🤦🏻‍♀️ the next time I became aware of her was the engagement announcement and when I saw her arching her back and it just came across as self promotion and look at me! and that was the moment I saw right through her.

The late Queen's expression at the wedding led me to believe she was also an early denier. There's no doubt in my mind the Queen knew exactly what her dim grandson had foisted on her family.

ajandjjmum · Today 19:11

I have never seen her speak when she has not been acting.

I remember the early threads when they left, and the cynics amongst us were saying there'll be interviews, books, secrets spilt, and were absolutely piled on by Sussex fans saying they have made no suggestion of such treachery, and we're all just showing ourselves as racists. Time has proven that we weren't idiots!

Yes, all she needed to complete the pose with her leg raised backwards was her 'Deal or No Deal' briefcase.

DaisyDooley · Today 19:16

Anyway.
I love these threads. They get me thinking about stuff then I think I come to conclusions I may not have without the input of you glorious ladies.

My latest thought is this.
No way will the King, and William, allow them back.
They can’t. They simply can’t risk it. Imagine - they come back, HIHO, nice pad here paid for by the King or ensconced in Windsor, all of the ‘prime’ engagements, wheel out the HAMlets at Easter & Christmas then……HAM decide they don’t like it. They don’t like being told what to do. They can’t cope with William barely acknowledging them and their kids. Meghan feels suicidal.
They decide to go back full time to montecito. And they write ANOTHER book, give many many more interviews.
They reveal what Catherine’s health issues are. They share the contents of the Late Queens will, and have many many pictures and videos taken inside Windsor, Balmoral and Sandringham.
Can you imagine what that would do to the monarchy?
It would destroy it.
The RF cannot risk it.
Both HAM have shown without a shred of doubt they cannot be trusted and they are not loyal to anyone but Meghan. Even if the King AND William were desperate to have them back from a MIGs and security perspective I just don’t think it would be allowed.
We think that the King has ultimate power - but he doesn’t. Not even over his own family. Remember, the late Queen gave Margaret permission to marry Peter Townsend - but the government didn’t. Look who won that battle.
If the government thought it was bad for the country, bad for the RF then they would not allow it.
The King may have to give Harry money- which will last until he dies.
But William will have no such truck with Harry.

My mum ( I’m very fond of my mum and trust her judgement) has a brother who did something awful to their parents. She cut him off and hasn’t spoken to him for nearly 40 years. She simply removed him from her life. I think William has done that with Harry. Harry is a memory now. He has no part in the present.
The Harry that William loved is as dead as their mother and William has simply left Harry behind. Harry knows this too - which is why he is so attention seeking.

That’s my thoughts for today.
