Mercy for Meghan & Harry

The outpouring of criticism about them both has been enthralling & entertaining, but I really think it's time to just leave them alone. Let them get on with their lives and sink into relative obscurity, like Edward and Wallis Simpson. What do you think?

Yep, long before Meghan Harry in a TV interview (BBC or ITV) stated he didn’t like the UK. I mean the guy living a life of massive privilege at the British tax payers expense, went on British TV and told the British public that he didn’t like Britain. Since then he has further underscored his dislike by claiming the British are racists and the British establishment would like to see his family dead.

How the heck can anyone support him ? And here he is taking court action to try to force the British public to cough up to fund him and his family, the very public he has denigrated.

In Meghans case, it looks like she saw an opportunity for global recognition and opportunity and jumped head first into love bombing Harry and idealizing him, who can forget the fawning over him and the puppy eyes looking at him like he was the 2nd coming. I would say his ego didn’t know what had hit it, all this validation and devotion making him feel super important and powerful. It looked quite toxic from the outset between both of them, it didn’t come across as a mature genuine relationship. She is still trying to make Harry something he is not, declaring he is handsome and a fox, and then the opposite, worst insult to emasculate any man, describing him as ‘childlike’, who wants to be married to a 40+ year old man who acts like a child.

They have a very bizarre relationship and dynamic to say the least.

So not appalling circumstances at all. Right. Sorry, small boy. Your mum’s dead. Entirely her own fault. Now, the public are being a bit antsy about the way Granny’s been acting. Just come and have a look at all these flowers-read a card or two. England expects and all that.

Facts are she did have a hand in her own death she was supposed to be home already she chose to extend her stay she was supposed to stay in the one hotel she chose to get in the car and leave she always wore her seatbelt she chose not too even when the driver drove faster and more recklessly and after almost THIRTY YEARS she should be allowed to rest in peace

you never ever get over the loss of a parent but let's not pretend he hasn't been using it to get attention since he left the royal family and unlike the rest of us he was given therapy support time and space and a huge family surrounding him to help him get through he should be in a much better position than the rest of us instead he rips the wound open every available opportunity love me my mother died pity me my mother died comfort me my mother died

Enough is enough its unhealthy

I'm very anti-monarchist and not white. Having said this, I think what the H&M saga has shown that it is not hard for a centuries old institution to outwit and outlast two relatively average wannabes.

The thing about William and Kate is that by their sheer position, and the passage of time, they will become more and more important. They will be invited into spaces and have influence without having to grift by virtue of who they are.
Harry and Meghan had they stayed in the RF could have had access to adjacent spaces by virtue of their position as the 'spare' and by association.

But in a moment of madness, blinded by celebrity they thought their sheer charismatic power (!) would enable them to access those same spaces and that level of privilege and wealth without the Royal Family. But now they find that they find the big events are closed off to them- they have never attended the Oscars or the Met Gala. They seem to hang out in the same circles- David Foster, the Netflix boss, and some of Meghan's female friends from Suits every few months to prove their 'relevance.' The friends on her Netflix show barely knew her- one didn't know her surname, and the makeup artist seems to have been ghosted apparently. They are not being invited to the Pope's funeral, to State banquets (even when Harry's own dad was in the US as a guest of the President), or to any international events. Meghan is giving speeches to almost no one at a Geneva roundabout.

So no they don't want obscurity. They wanted the headlines and the glamour without having to go a primary school in Leicester or to see a homeless shelter in Battersea. (And I'm not saying W&K are doing these outings because they are saints- but they understood is it is the contract for being Prince and Princess of Wales).

Completely this

I toally agree, OP.

On one big condition: that they stay in Montecito, or similar, and don't try to return to the UK in any official capacity. I mean - they can live where they like as long as they do it as completely private people and we don't get them trying to wheedle their way back to royal life.

I really hope the RF and the security services (or whatever) will stop Harry being anything but a very private citizen if he does want to come back to Blighty. He has shown himself to be unstable and untrustworthy, so couldn't ever return to public life or royal duties. Royals have to deal with politicians, foreign heads of state, civil servants, diplomats, secret service etc etc. Harry hasn't got the character or the discretion for any of that.

I would be happy never to hear of Harry and Meghan again. But if they came back as royals, I would become a republican as fast as you could say 'Effing grifters'.

Agreed! , from his own mouth too! 🤷‍♀️

Indeed, Jeff.

H & M critics on here used to get the old line 'You don't know anything about them!'

Er...well, there's just the book, the Netflix series, the OW interview and many other interviews and films of them cosplaying royals in various parts of the world for us all to see and hear.

I jolly well think we DO know a lot about them, and as you say, from their own mouths.

If that's not the case...are their supporters implying they're lying, then? Perish the thought! 😂

I’m not talking about from a genuine angle. I mean if I was working doing her PR, I would have advised to have her mum instead of random people who aren’t known as close friends..

Did you see any of Pamela Anderson's cooking show - in some ways the format was similar. All of the cooking was done/directed by an experienced chef with Pamela helping, she did a little craft project at some point and then friends came over and they ate the cooked food.

It had such a different feel though. So much easier to watch and the recipes were so good. I think the main difference was Pamela made it all about the expert chef and was very self depreciating re her own part.

Harry is probably not as much of a dickhead as he is painted. William is probably not as saintly as he is painted. They are both damaged people who had uniquely traumatic childhoods. They are both
poster boys for the abolition of the monarchy.

I do think William has spent the time working through the trauma with therapy. He seems to have had a sort of crisis moment when he was working as an air ambulance pilot. He was interviewed about it as part of some mental health initiative and he said that seeing the sorts of severe emergencies and accidents in that job broke something open inside him, part of it was seeing children in danger after he had become a father.

I can't remember his exact words but he indicated that there was this one moment which brought all this stuff to the surface that he hadn't dealt with and made him realize he needed help to deal with it.

When you watch him talk to bereaved children I think it shows he's come to some sort of peace.

I dunno, Harry and Meghan seem happily married. Harry seems to be deeply in love with her, the happiest and warmer couple from that royal family and they are married for a long time, it doesn't seem she was idealizing him. It was him who pursued her anyway.

I don't see anything bizarre at all. If anything they are a bit boring, but the same can be said of this whole royal family.

You wrote that Harry is problematic, though.

Sorry don’t believe it

Okeydokey.

PR can do wonders. It did for Camilla whose popularity was once at rock bottom. But she probably has common sense and listens to advice. Unlike Meghzn and Harry. That's why the pair are a disaster.

No - after long observation I don’t think they’re happily married. Of course, M is an actress and is determined to perform the part of a besotted wife when in public or for her own publicity shots. Harry may well still adore her and is generally fairly happy to go along with the performance- just the odd grimace, eyeroll or snapped back hand. They both know that their USP is The Greatest Love Story of All Time, so despite problems or inequalities in their relationship, they need to keep that myth alive.

I hope for the sake of the children they find a way to stay together though.
