The outpouring of criticism about them both has been enthralling & entertaining, but I really think it's time to just leave them alone. Let them get on with their lives and sink into relative obscurity, like Edward and Wallis Simpson. What do you think?

Whenever they go anywhere, trips. They made a statement before going to Australia. Coming to the UK, visiting Diana's grave, taking the children to Scotland, you know that sort of things.

The tide needs to turn, IMHO.

I would recommend people watch the South Park episode about them. It is a brilliant and sharp satire about them.

It smacks of floundering around for things to say or do, so that we pay attention to them. I agree that they don't want obscurity, but this endless criticism of them both is appalling.
Maybe the best response from the public would be apathy?

Who did they "announce" these trips to? Or do you mean the press reported that thr trips were made?

They have a decent sized PR team who make announcements on their behalf (the staff turnover is well publicised).

They need to fund their own lifestyle (apart from H’s inheritance and allowance from Charles of course) so they have to. It’s naive to think they are carrying out semi public engagements but trying to do it on the quiet!

I think they’re doing just fine. They seem to have a pretty idyllic life. They’re free from the constraints of the ghastly royal family, and they’ve distanced themselves from the toxic British media. There’s still a fanbase for them and they seem to enjoy that. I don’t find anything remotely offensive about either one of them.

I have always thought it's so strange for people to give two hoots about the royal family.
I also think that the 'pile on' will never stop because of Harry bravely taking on the press. The negative stories from the Mail etc won't stop, ever.

God, I sound like a royalist saying this, but I'm so impressed with their dignity and sense of duty. I've never met either of them, but from what I see, they are both thoroughly decent and kind people. Kate seems genuinely lovely, and seems to just instinctively know how to put people at their ease. They both look like they enjoy what they're doing. Their children seem absolutely lovely too. I don't think this is the result of their PR. You can't fake it over the long term.

So, when YOU were enthralled and entertained, it was fine to criticise them, but now YOU'RE bored, it should stop?

I’m perhaps people would leave them alone when they stop being on tv shows, Netflix specials, publicise their trips, act as pseudo ambassadors a with all of the pomp and fanfare associated, they stay off social media, stop giving interviews, stop accepting bogus awards, stop making speeches to keep themselves relevant etc…..

But it's true. I can't rmeember where their recent "tour" was but they court the media about Al l the Royal-esque things they do when they're perfect cpaapble of carrying out the same stuff without media intrusion. Just look at the whole visiting the King thing. ALL that drama! And in the end the wife and kids flew in quietly, saw his Dad and Step Mom and it was all quietly under the radar. Unto kthey posted photos of the kdis going to their Nans grave, which they knew would kick up drama.

Weyher you like them or not, the point is they do want some level of fame, with enough privacy to keep the kids safe. They need to earn money, she was an actress so obv enjoys being in front of the camera. that's all fine. plenty of famous people make money on screen, do good deeds and keep their kids private. they could too, but it just doesn't seem good enough for them. they appear to need to press to be desperate for them.

You're right, but again, I think they're floundering, and trying to stay relevant until they establish a direction for their future.
If Hollywood had warmed to them, they could have developed a niche in film-making or documentary - making, along the lines of David Attenborough or some other more modern media type (I'm out of date!). It's all about forging an identity for themselves that gives them kudos and value which is entirely their own, not based on royal connections.
