I think we are all forgetting a major player in this drama.
Someone who wields immense power - and that’s Queen Camilla.
She is a strong woman who I believe has no time whatsoever for Harry & Meghan. She seems to have a good relationship with William and Catherine - and I imagine she and William will be united in their desire to keep Harry at a distance. A great distance.
I don’t believe for one second she will be accepting of the King to let Harry stay in any royal property where they ‘live’(ie Sandringham, Clarence House, Balmoral). It’s too risky. While Camilla had a privileged life from birth she’s the most ‘normal’ person to marry into the RF (and Im including Diana in that).
She will absolutely have Meghan weighed up and can see that Harry is a dim weak man.
Im sure she is appalled by the dreadful behaviour Harry has displayed over the last 6 years- and she will not be as forgiving as the King.
I don’t think the King will be minded to go against Camilla & William.
I think the speculation is all coming from the panicking Sussex household - who will be fast running out of money. If reports are right they haven’t got much left.

I hope I’m right. #TeamWilliam&Camilla.

'The Crown never dies' and W will become King the minute KC3 breathes his last - it's an instant transfer of power. Who knows what he'll have already decided to do about H&M!

Yes, they are one of those rare type of families where it doesn't matter how much creeping around the Golden Child does - the heir cannot be disinherited from the main inheritances.

And what extraordinary inheritances they are: the Crown; becoming Head of State, with the power of Royal Assent; the Duchy of Lancaster for himself, and the Duchy of Cornwall for his eldest child; the title of 'Prince of Wales' for his eldest child; the title of 'Queen' for his wife; oversight over the Royal Household, and a unique relationship with the Crown Estate; becoming Head of State of the Commonwealth Realms, the Crown Dependancies, and Overseas Territories; the Supreme Governorship of the Church of England; unique position within the Commonwealth; and being head of the royal family, with the power to bestow personal honours and dole out royal ceremonial roles.

Harry gets none of this. Harry could be Charles's favouritest 'dear boy' ever; and there's nothing legally that either of them can do to stop William from inheriting the Crown. Charles isn't thick - he knows this.

The power of the monarch in a constitutional monarchy stops there. Charles is not a Roman Emperor who can adopt an heir. He can act in a personal capacity like an ATM in Cair Paravel if he must, out of misplaced guilt, but that's it.

I've had an idea. The King could send the Lord Lieutenant Derrick Anderson CBE to all Invictus events in Birmingham.

'The Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands is His Majesty’s personal representative and the role involves supporting civic, ceremonial, voluntary, charitable and social activity.'

Here he is: https://wmlieutenancy.org/

He is Black, British, and supports the King's priorities, which are Community, Culture, Commonwealth and Climate. The Lord Lieutenant Derrick Anderson has said, 'We are a diverse region, vibrant and full of energy and ambition, not just for ourselves but for one another. Together we are stronger. We celebrate our diversity but also share what we have in common with one another.' Perfect. No family involved - but official, ceremonial representation.

That's a great idea.

Harry's children are going to be like the various Russian princesses that were floating about for years. Remember that guy that Harry hooked up with...one look at his Insta says it all. This is his and their destiny.

I really think William on ascending the throne will issue new letters stripping all non working royals of titles & putting his own childrens (excepting the heir) into abeyance.
I think KC will make a huge settlement on Harry & his children knowing whats coming down the line, I do think it will be a watertight trust with a ton of clauses.
I think William will never reconcile with his brother, but I also think he looks at the awful damage AMW & this whole shitshow with his brother has done to the Crown. I think he will be an entirely different Monarch than whats gone before.

There's a structural problem with the RF, which is that the titles don't come with money or property. So Harry is Duke of Sussex, and Archie will be eventually, but without any financial firepower to support it. If you look at the "civilian" dukes, e.g. Devonshire, Westminster, Norfolk, they generally have land and wealth going back generations. The newer royal ones have none of that - if they're in the WRF they tend to live in RF properties (Gloucester, Kent, Edinburgh, formerly York).

But Harry has inherited around £25-30 million from the RF

£3 million when her turned 21 from the QM trust
£10-15 million from Diana
£8 million from the QM family trust at 40

Plus Charles paid his expenses until he left the UK - if he'd just invested the money he'd be earning millions each year

Exactly. KC was still supporting them after they were living in the USA.

I remember reading ( before Megxit) that eyebrows were raised when Meghan’s clothing accounts landed on the Duchy desk and concern that she wasn’t using British designers ( or indeed the High Street).

Yes - in their first year in the royal family
Kate's clothing bill was just over £50,000
Meghan billed the Duchy £500,000 - so 10 times more

I wonder where all of Meghan's clothing is now?

MyDogClive · 20/06/2026 17:29

I’d missed the “missing the bus” episode. @Mylovelygreendressso completely predictable, though.

William needs to share the TFL app with them the next time they struggle.

Yes - they were getting around £2 million a year - plus the house, cars, offices, staff and security etc. But they never understood how much it would cost to replicate such a lifestyle.

It's just not enough for the lifestyle they want is it? I really think PH & M thought at this pount they'd be heading if not in billionaire territory & the de facto First Family in the US.
Its not worked out that way for them, its like watching a car crash in slow motion, they seem to have alienated everyone who was rooting for them/wanting collaborate.
I think MM being a born hustler will survive, but PH looks increasingly lost & unhappy. I hope for the sake of their kids they can stay together & be happy, they could have a wonderful life, but the bitterness at the heart of them, its just hard to imagine it working out that way.
But i really hope it does - MM will move on but PH has burnt all his bridges here, has no talent, doesnt understand making money, he'll be lost without her now.

And because they arrived after the rest of the Royals ( Yorks etc) there was a bit of confusion and shuffling around for H and M to get to their seats . And the look on Harry’s face when he saw where they were sitting !

She had global fame, prestige, popularity and lucrative deals thrown in her lap just a few years ago.

Now she's selling matches on the internet.

Although it doesn’t feel nice to speculate about KC’s demise, I can already picture the shenanigans from Montecito if there’s a similar situation as with the late Queen and the family dash to the bedside.

I can imagine Harry kicking off, demanding Meghan (and maybe even Archie and Lili, who barely know their grandfather) be allowed to attend. I wonder if it’s something William has already considered how he might handle that situation, or if it’s something he and Charles have discussed.

I should be very surprised if H&M were allowed to do another walkabout, though I believe last time they were going to go rogue and do their own one and that’s why W&C stepped in.

I wonder if this happens what can be done to stop them? Not much I should imagine.

If they pull the same stunt as they did at the jubilee and miss the bus, I’d be tempted to say tough shit. I wouldn’t lay on a limo for them.

They are going to find something to whinge about anyway, so may as well be that.

Didn't that chap in the pic with Harry appear on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? He looks like the prince that married Kelsey Grammar's ex.

And the civilian dukes can do what they want with the family money. And have set up trust funds to make sure that the daughters and second/third/fourth etc sons get a share of the family wealth, even if they don't get a share of the revenue-generating properties and assets.

The RF lacks that mechanism to allow the Duchy wealth to trickle sideways. Hence the children who are not the heir have to rely on inheritances from relatives and from the privately owned funds of the monarch; and on the discretionary generosity of monarch and heir in their use of Duchy funds.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 20/06/2026 14:09

What’s really sad about all this I think, is that even the hardest and most cynical of hearts can admit that it might be nice if there were a private reconciliation between Charles and Harry, and if Charles could spend time with his Sussex grandchildren before he dies

I'm not convinced on this. Only because I spend time on here and read loads of threads about how grandparents just aren't that interested. Also it is harder to miss what you never had.

I agree.

I wouldn't want to risk building a bond with a small child that could be used at a later point to extort me. For my sake, but more so to spare the child.

I mean, even selling matches, its still a hustle move. If she ended up doing "Better call Saul!" TV adverts for some dodgy lawyer on KYT TV - its still a hustle right?
Harry couldn't make a move on a chess board.

I regularly read here that A & L will be 'irrelevant' when they're older as they will be so far down the LOS but I think they will always be in the spotlight in some fashion. Their parents love the limelight and they've got titles. Especially Lilibet Diana....what a heavy saddle of a name. Wouldn't you love if she changed it to something simple like Grace when she is older?!

I could be wrong but I'd say education is way down H&M's list of priorities for their children. They'll grift some sort of lifestyle

M is a hustler and H is financially clueless, but their families of origin are vastly different.

H's family or origin will always take him back. They may park H in a rural property, hidden from view, with minimal to no contact leaving H to stew in his bitterness. But H will get 3 square meals a day and a roof over his head.

By contrast, M has no familial support system beyond H. All of M's "deals" and "business ventures" are due to H either opening the door or opening his wallet. Even worse, A&L will grow up and will hear the other side of the story. And M has taught her kids that you can cut relatives off stone cold, especially those relatives with no financial upside.

Rhaidimiddim · 20/06/2026 18:10

TheAutumnCrow · 20/06/2026 15:21

And actually, isn't it revealing of H's mindset ... i.e. isn't it peculiar what Harry considers to be his 'personal money'?

There is evidence from others that he feels like this about other charities, like Ingriftus (M's catwalk), Sentebale ('an extention of the Sussex PR machine') and possibly others.

And because this charity was registered in the UK, he couldn't employ Delaware rules to draw "his" £1.1m out and spend it. So might as well write "his" £1.1m off but get a bit of good publicity out of it too.

Not really. Thousands of people sell crap on the internet. Given the immense fame and popularity she had not long ago, being a minor influencer really isn't a hustle.

If it is, it's hustling backwards.

Not2identifying · 20/06/2026 18:19

I reckon H & M will have a car allocated to take them to Charles's funeral service because (1) is it really right to make him take a bus with wider relatives to his Dad's funeral? and (2) they won't want to give him an opportunity for grievance and drama. He'll also sit in the front row in a prominent position (no hiding him behind candlesticks). For the same reasons.

It 100% won't be an entry way back in. It'll be the last thing they do for him.

I agree entirely, except on one point. I think Catherine is (at least) just as normal.

Camilla has had decades of watching the upper classes at play (and war) and her opinion will carry much weight in that family.

Harry couldn't make a move on a chess board.

Some of his behaviour in relation to Sentebale shows him to be a bit of a hustler himself, but with only short-term success. Lining up people to be his attack dogs, circumventing protocols to get his legal invoices paid by Sentebale, attempting to persuade donors to channel funds to Sentebale via Tavalyst and Archewell.
