Can’t see a new thread so thought I would start a new one to continue discussing the grifters

🤣🤣 at Princess Anne should host a children's tea party so A & L can meet their cousins 🤣.

No one wants to stay at Buckingham Palace these days it seems. It's becoming an awkward big white elephant in the centre of London. Ugly, empty and soulless.

I wonder where H&M do want to stay?

It sounds like a miserable family trip. Cooped up in London, nowhere to go. Half an hour with your dad. A day out in Birmingham 😁. It's hardly living the dream is it?

Hilarious!
They won't stay at BP for security reasons because it's such a "high profile, visible building" 🤣🤣

My DP read this piece this morning and laughed. He’s not fussed about royal stuff but he knows hypocrisy and privilege when it’s sticking out like a sore thumb.

Harry remains a laughing stock.

If Harry is Charles’s weak point then I hope to goodness the handsomely remunerated MIGS are advising the King robustly that he’s in danger of serious reputational damage.

noonames · 20/06/2026 10:33

I imagine they want Clarence House, or wherever the king is, so they can show how close they are. And then there’ll be - despite Charles’s constant begging, no, Meghan just isn’t interested in being the face of the RF again, and although Harry accepts his father’s opinion that he is the taller, better looking, more intelligent, charismatic and popular son, too much has happened for him to come back to the UK full-time right now. Maybe if the RF play their cards right, Archie and Lili will choose to be working royals when they’re older 🤪🤪🤪

IcedPurple · 20/06/2026 10:36

Mylovelygreendress · 20/06/2026 09:46

Do any other events have a “ one year to go” thing ? Olympics ?

It's so ridiculous. Especially if it involves the 'patron' (and his wife) flying long distance and staying in expensive hotels, at the charity's expense.

As we've discussed before, the hype and costs are totally out of proportion to the rather modest nature of the charity itself.

Come again?! When has Charles ever said that about Harry??

Meanwhile Invictus and the veterans are forgotten !

Exactly and this is a year before. They create a pantomime.

ReallyReilly · 20/06/2026 08:47

Presumably the staff will do it.

Edited

Harry will need a food taster in case he's being poisoned 😂

noonames · 20/06/2026 10:45

What’s really sad about all this I think, is that even the hardest and most cynical of hearts can admit that it might be nice if there were a private reconciliation between Charles and Harry, and if Charles could spend time with his Sussex grandchildren before he dies. But this is quite clearly not the priority for Harry. If it were, he’d be keeping quiet, trying to build trust and restore his reputation with the family, instead of spinning a load of bollocks for PR wins. He cares more about generating press attention than actually building bridges with his family, unfortunately. And that’s why this trip will ultimately come to nothing. No doubt they will claim it as a big victory, how they were happy to acquiesce to Charles’s increasingly frantic pleas to come over etc etc. But it’ll all be lies, a few days later they’ll be back to trying to scratch a living in California - they won’t be at Balmoral, they won’t be at Sandringham for Christmas, they might see Charles briefly and privately once in a blue moon but they’ll never be working royals, invited to official events or seen in public anywhere near the rest of the family again, except maybe arms length at Charles’s funeral.

I wonder what the real problem is with BP - I’d have thought they’d enjoy the prestige. Presumably it’s because that’s where visiting dignitaries are put up, and the Sussexes want to stay with someone, to show how close they are to the family. Can’t see that happening! Nobody will want to bump into those two at the breakfast table. Even if Meghan’s suitcase is packed with fruit spread, flower sprinkles and cremated croissants for all.

Probably they would not be allowed to bring a camera crew/photographer to BP.

It would not be a surprise to me that Harry and Meghan are intending to pitch an "Olive branch 🌿 - reconciliation tour" show to Netflix and are intending to film themselves at various royal events/locations to show that they are back on good terms.

Maybe Harry needs to make sure the king and queen need the ‘right people’ around them like the late queen did? 😉

Oh yes, he'll be checking out the new Lord Chamberlain Richard Benyon (effectively the 'CEO' of 'the Firm'), I expect, like he previously did with Andrew Parker. I don't believe they've met yet.

Harry will want to know if he'll be protected and his image curated like it was, undeservedly, under the longstanding Lord Chamberlain William Peel (2006 - March 2021).

I imagine Harry requires a certain level of service from these Lords in his head. I do hope the new one shows him what duty looks like, good and hard.

Isn't the majority of BP a building site at the moment, in the midst of of a total 'makeover'? I seem to recall reading that when anything is held at BP those rooms are prepared but the rest is a mess. In view of recent financial reports regarding the costs of residences will they be charged for a stay in a royal residence rather than one owned by the King, Sandringham or Balmoral?

If we know it and can see it, sure as hell the MIG, see it and know it. And I suspect the journalists do as well. They just care about the clicks the Sussexes generate.

drivinmecrazy · 20/06/2026 11:11

I predict that W&C will accept a wedding invitation to Tay Tay’s wedding and after much thought will allow Charlotte to be chief flower girl, as per Taylor’s request.
they will fly in and fly out on private planes.
Obviously this would be nothing to do with putting H&M back in the box.
Simple but effective.
And could you imagine the excitement of Charlotte!!
The howling and wailing will be heard from Montecito across the globe.
Wonder how they’d spin that one

Since she forced her way into Invictus it has totally changed, it was all about the veterens originally, Harry would make a speech but his emphasis was all on the participants. It's now become a adjunct to the Mehan Me Me Show, she will push herself into the centre of all the photos and insist on making another tedious speech. It has been vastly diminished by her.

And some body doubles to take the hail of snipers bullets sweeping across Buckingham Palace grounds.

They're probably trawling job centres for baldy young middle-aged gingers right now.

Ah, @noonames , you have my sympathy.
I tried a little irony/humour on a different royal thread yesterday and had people carefully explaining to me why Carole Middleton couldn't become Queen Mother.

Yes I saw that! 🤪
The other day I had to explain that I didn’t really think that royal journalist Phil Dampier was a pseudonym, an anagram for a Sussex staff member named Delia Phrimp, that it was in fact a joke.

Lots of interest, isn’t there, in this Sussex PR fest that may or may not include a quick cuppa at the king’s convenience before Meghan and the children hotfoot it back to USA to avoid all the lovely press for the PoW’s appearances at Wimbledon.

Meanwhile Harry can stay on in his hotel room, still no closer to a handout from his father, nor an entitlement to 24/7 security like his brother, and still not welcome at any family gatherings. It’s always the trouble with puffing things up in advance like this - eventually the thing happens and the reality of it becomes apparent. I expect they will have found someone to blame by then, a nice conspiracy theory or some such. Unfortunately conspiracy theories and whinges don’t pay the mortgage.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 20/06/2026 12:07

I do wonder if there is a full on grift being pulled here. Harry might look at what has happened with AMW and think, 'I quite fancy that life. No financial pressures. Put up in a nice house. Protected from press intrusion on the King's estate. All bills taken care of. No work to do. Yes please, Pa.' I think Harry would love that. But it would never work, because Meghan would last about half an hour before contriving to make a complete spectacle of herself.

noonames · 20/06/2026 12:16

I think the last thing either of them fancies is a truly private life away from the public gaze. They could have had that if they’d wanted, but unfortunately for them and their children, they cannot cope without press attention, and even more unfortunately, because they are doomed never to win, they see themselves in competition with the PPoW.

IcedPurple · 20/06/2026 12:21

I think there are several reasons for the decline of Invictus, one of them simply being that it has run its course, as discussed above. But Meghan treating it as an opportunity to give silly speeches and go through several outfit changes a day, as if it were the Cannes Film Festival rather than a low key sports event, is certainly one of them. As I said above, I think the time has come to wind down Invictus and merge it with another charity doing similar work.

This is where they will end up in approx 10. If not the pair of them, definitely H.

noonames · 20/06/2026 12:26

Also the price that AMW paid for that life is too steep for them I reckon. H+M would never give up their titles and be Mr and Mrs Mountbatten-Windsor.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/06/2026 12:42

MrsLeonFarrell · 20/06/2026 08:32

I'm not sure but my recall is that Heads of State have never attended Invictus, anywhere. It's usually their wives or deputies. Anyone know for sure?

It's been attended by Trudeau of Canada, Steinmeier of Germany and of course Zelenskyy, MrsLF. The fly in the ointment with this next one, of course, is that the Head of State just happens to be his father, with all that goes with that

If Charles fails to mark the games I've not the least doubt Harry will carry on something alarming, but he does that anyway and with plenty of other veterans' causes available dad might do better to focus his attentions elsewhere

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/06/2026 12:54

I think it’s unlikely that BP would deny Charles is paying for security if he is, that’s asking for trouble

The palace spin and twist about a lot of things, @noonames, but I can't really see it being an issue if Charles really did use his own money for this ... though it could easily become one if it later turned out that (as so often) he'd found a way to charge the public purse for his wants

And yes, @Mylovelygreendress, the veterans are indeed being forgotten among all this, but there's a long and sad history of that happening and it's unlikely to be any different this time

Frankly I wonder if the vets wouldn't do better to choose one of the other service charities, and if Invictus eventually collapses they may do just that, but time will tell
