Royal Ascot 2026 - Carriage Lists

I’ve done this for the last few years but wanted to see if there was still interest?

I work in racing and am on the media circulation list for all the Royal Ascot press releases throughout the meeting. They send out the carriage lists at midday each day so if people are interested I’m happy to pop it up for discussion.

The Royal Procession is at 2pm each day (Tuesday-Saturday) and you can watch on ITV.

Do we think the carriage procession is a wee late wedding present for Peter and Harriet.

Sir Ben Elliot is Camilla’s nephew if I’m thinking of the right person?

Be a little interesting to see if the York princesses appear this year as they usually do. Although one of them is heavily pregnant - I can’t imagine climbing in and out of a carriage would be fun at that stage.

tinaabbot · 16/06/2026 13:51

Thanks @CaveMumI always like to at least see the photos, I appreciate you posting the lists.

capelmustard · 16/06/2026 13:52

Thanks @CaveMum! I came on specifically to see if you'd posted the list. Always have my eye out for Sarah Chatto, I love her outfits. Harriet always looks lovely too.

Decacaffeinatednow · 16/06/2026 13:54

It's a pity the women are not listed in their own names.

JustAnotherWhinger · 16/06/2026 14:08

I wonder if there is any outfit co-ordination as Camilla, Birgitte and Harriet are all in grey. Anne is in stripes.

Hadn’t realised that Mrs Luke Irwin in the last carriage is Camilla’s niece Alice (nee Elliott)

HelenaWilson · 16/06/2026 14:09

It's a pity the women are not listed in their own names.

Ms Danielle de Niese is also Mrs Gus Christie, so maybe It's personal choice?

(I didn't know that, I googled to see who everyone is.)

Quite nice weather for it, at least it is here - sunny but not too hot.

CaveMum · 16/06/2026 14:12

The name badge is personal preference. Though I’ve not been for several years my Royal Enclosure badge is Mrs “my first name” “Last name”, and not DH’s first name!

Thanks CaveMum, I was hoping you’d do a thread.
Though I won’t get to watch much as heading to Exmoor for lots of walking on Thursday.

Today I heard an anecdote about Prince Phillip - apparently he hated racing and would dutifully sit in the carriage for the procession and then as soon as he made it to the stands nip out the back and take a car home. Do you know if there is any truth in this?

ShamedBySiri · 16/06/2026 16:03

Google has shown me lots of pictures of Phillip in the paddock with other royals so I think it can’t have happened often if at all.

BillericayDickie · 16/06/2026 16:05

don't the wales' go ?

HoldMyWine · 16/06/2026 16:40

Thanks @CaveMum

ramonaquimby · 16/06/2026 16:42

God. Doubt it's a personal choice to be named Mrs husbands name Surname. It's 2026

Mr. Peter Phillips
Mrs. Peter Phillips

Was going to say the same. They're still using this awful sexist naming system?

So once you get married, you basically don't have a name?

Come on. I get that the whole point of royalty is tradition, but this is a wee bit too much in this day and age.

AnnieApples · 16/06/2026 17:44

I loathe the ‘Mrs Peter Philips’ thing. Convention or choice, it’s a dreadful anachronism. I’d be embarrassed and refuse to do it.

Same. It makes me toes curl.

I remember when Zara had one of her kids, the BP birth announcement referred to 'Mrs. Michael Tindall'. So even when doing the most 'female' thing, she was simply an appendage to a man.

As for 'choice', does Harriet really go around calling herself 'Mrs Peter Philips' in any other context? I doubt it.

HelenaWilson · 16/06/2026 18:07

I see the Duchess of Wellington is a Prussian princess (though born and brought up in the UK), and related to the RF, being a great-granddaughter of the Kaiser. Her mother was a Guinness.

Miranda65 · 16/06/2026 18:15

I don't understand the objection to the Mrs Peter Philips thing. If you're willing to take a man's surname on marriage, does it really matter? Of course, it's equally fine to retain one's own full name upon marriage.
So for me, born Miranda Smith and married to John Jones, in almost every aspect of my life I'm happy to be known as Miranda Jones. But for something like Ascot, or a very formal occasion, I think the old- fashioned etiquette of Mrs John Jones would be fine, and rather charming.
*not really!

Personally, I'm not willing to take a man's name on marriage.

But even if I was, I would like to retain some form of personal identity. Mrs Harriet Philips is still an individual with a name. Mrs Peter Philips is an appendage to her husband. She's not even worthy of a name. Only her husband's personhood counts.

ginasevern · 16/06/2026 18:19

Blimey, we're talking about the obscenely privileged gawping at animal exploitation and yet posters are deeply concerned about the style of women's names.

Who's the 'we'? Your only contribution has been to slag off other posters.

MaggieFS · 16/06/2026 18:23

Thanks @CaveMumit will save me having to look at the bloody Fail.

Seeing as others have already googled, who are the Christie’s and the Ramsdens?

Exactly. It’s ludicrous. I noticed Zara was ‘Zara’ on her badge. 👏

Usually there for one of the days (Catherine not for last 2 years for understandable reasons). I want to say maybe Ladies' Day this year, as focus is naturally on the women and Catherine usually gets her look just right each year she attends. Loved her polker-dot My Fair Lady-esque dress and hat from the other year.

HelenaWilson · 16/06/2026 19:02

Gus Christie is to do with Glyndebourne. Danielle is a singer.

Google throws up several people called Matt Ramsden, including one who was a GP in Weatherfield! Don't think it's him....
