Meghan and Harry the grift that keeps on grifting. Long may they continue. Better than any soap opera on the telly.

There's a report on Reddit about his high legal bills. Last time paid for by the Bank of Pa.
This time, is that bank still open for business?

I don't think Bank of Pa closes.

BillyBites · 11/06/2026 21:00

Wonder if he'll (KC) be called upon to help out with the legal bills if the ANL case doesn't go H's way.

Don't. I got my head bitten off for saying something similar upthread 🤣!

Yes KC will bail him out. Last thing RF need as a royal looking for cash from dodgy sources

IcedPurple · 11/06/2026 21:05

I don't know why people think Charles is going to be willing to shell out hundreds of grand to encourage his wayward son to abuse the court system which operates in his name.

I'm certain that you're right - KC would rather bail him out for those reasons, rather than Harry become financially dependent on less than trustworthy people.
I feel certain - although I don't know for sure - that he has probably set up trust funds for the children to support them in the future.

I'm in Ireland but is there huge excitement in Birmingham over this ??

Excitement in Birmingham about PH’s one year to go event at the NEC next month and then the games in 2027? - absolutely not - that city has critical structural and financial issues that the IG will only exacerbate and whos citizens have endured unresolved for years.

He's coughed up to keep far more removed from the line 'blood princesses' in the style to which they've become accustomed.

Exactly. He's pretty free with the cash in certain situations, it would seem.

He didn't 'cough up' anything. There's a difference between not charging your nieces rent in homes which otherwise would be unoccupied, to subsidising your petulant son's abuse of the legal system you preside over, to the tune of hundreds of millions of pounds.

Harry can afford to pay his legal bills. He has a home worth several million. He's a tightwad so he'd hate it, but he could afford it. I really don't see Charles basically encouraging Harry to abuse His Majesty's Courts, which is exactly what this would be doing.

It's like a massively premature "Save the Date" card.
Maybe they're coming over to arrange for the real Games to be held a few days earlier in their backyard so they can be private and special before the spectacle for the masses in Brum.

Oh for the laugh emoji.

Spotify appeared to have made a business-led decision that the Duke and Duchess don't have the media brand value they once had.

That last sentence summarises it, I think.

Spotify got out in 2023; Netflix didn't renew their contract apart from the 'first look' option.
They won't find the same level of deal from anyone now.

This is a DM article - I'd be interested in what US posters think . I do think they've squandered a great deal of good will though in a relatively short time. I suspect M was good at selling - not so good on the follow up.

I think her skills are more appropriate to a corporate context than a celebrity one.

She can regurgitate world salad style promotion and act confident and assertive.
I can imagine she comes across quite well in a corporate type board meeting.

But she has no charisma, star quality, charm, or artistic talent so as a celebrity she flops.

She can sell herself she can't deliver.

Really?

Wouldn't she just be spouting the same word salad? She clearly has no business acumen, as evidenced by her silly 'Female Founder' podcast.

Homelessness is William's thing these days.

All the better then.

He can tell everyone that he is better than William at supporting Shelter because not only does he understand homelessness because of Frogmore, he can tell them all how he understands food insecurity due to sausages.

I think a lot of corporate roles are about averagely intelligent people parroting company propaganda in a confident way.
Especially in the US.

They aren't bright enough or don't have the skills to start their own business but they can perform to sell a company vision.

Obviously there's a ceiling in how high these type of people can go. they're not real leaders, they have no actual talent, they're just skilled enough to pretend.

I think meghan speaks like a corporate bot when she gives speeches and her performance is very 'inspirational PowerPoint style.'

I really think corporate management should have been her ceiling.

I don't think those sorts of deals even exist anymore.

The Sussexes' timing is comically bad, but one way in which they were lucky is that they got their media deals during the Covid pandemic, when the streamers were flush with cash. I don't think the deals were anywhere near as lucrative as had been made out, but it was a golden age for streamers so they were definitely more generous than they would have been later.

The fact that the NF deal was downgraded to 'first look', and they went from Spotify to Lemonada (?) is symptomatic of their downward trajectory. They just haven't produced the goods.

True. But that's so 00s! But then, that seems to be Meghan's era.

I really think corporate management should have been her ceiling.

She doesn't have the people skills for corporate management.

I agree, so many of them use that awful word salad and are excellent at self promotion and using the talents of others.

BasiliskStare · 11/06/2026 21:48

Thanks @bluegreygreen - sorry I didn't think was behind a paywall - my mistake.

I think re Corporate meetings - Many large companies have their own jargon. If senior people use it , those lower down the management chain will often also use it. I think sometimes people use the jargon without knowing what they actually mean - it just sounds "clever" . I think Meghan is one of those. If you can't explain a company which sells jam and spread or tea or candles without using corporate jargon - well - think again I think. The jargon often comes as a shorthand for an idea - not the idea itself - and with repetition it loses any real meaning.

ETA Oops a bit of cross posting there with @IcedPurple and @StrawberryWasp an possibly others I think.

Yes, I think it's exactly like this.

One can only hope. Even now H isn't exactly on his uppers. Bit of financial planning , working out a long term sustainable lifestyle - he'll be grand .

(There may be a flaw in this 😉)
