Meghan and Harry the grift that keeps on grifting. Long may they continue. Better than any soap opera on the telly.

I’m sure Harry can’t have been granted the guaranteed security provision he’s been after or we’d certainly have heard about it.

but I suspect he might have realised he’s cut off his nose to spite his face by insisting Meghan and his children will never visit the U.K. without it, as he’s realised this isn’t the leverage he’d hoped it would be, and he’s backed himself into a corner now that he wants them to come over.

Of course, as he always has done, he will have police protection as needed, and the public events for Invictus will undoubtedly qualify for that.

If I had to guess, Meghan has insisted on coming because she wants the Invictus publicity. Harry I think probably does want his kids to meet KC, but I don’t think we’ll see them publicly.

I’m sure H&M will be angling to get a “back of the head” photo of the two of them with Charles, so I really hope that KC puts his foot down and refuses to allow any photographs that play into the Sussexes PR narrative. I can’t blame him too much for allowing a private meeting, assuming that nothing of substance will be revealed - they’ll know it will be leaked as the last meeting was.

wonder how it sits with Camilla ? H was despicable towards her publicly

Not2identifying · 17/06/2026 16:27

Camilla is now more popular than Harry, something she would never have achieved without Harry's commitment to behaving like a wally these last few years. I expect she takes a 'what's best for Charles?' approach to it.

DancingFerret · 17/06/2026 16:30

Talk of them coming to the UK has been ramped up (probably by M) because of the reports from Ascot.

Judging by the DM article about the Sussexes visit, I think H will be coming alone. Reports of their antics tend to include words like "a source", "expected", and "reportedly" - and in this latest offering we're told the DoS "could be set to take his family..."

I'll believe it when I see it.

Edit: typo.

Starryfifty · 17/06/2026 16:47

Wonder will H get his apology ?

MrsLeonFarrell · 17/06/2026 16:59

So despite the media fuss nothing has changed? Harry might come over and see his Dad, with or without Meghan and the children. He might bring them to Invictus, he might not. If he comes over he will be given an appropriate level of security.

Nothing in that is new, or very interesting. I'm glad if Charles gets to see his son and son's family but I very much doubt he will tell Harry anything of importance, he's not stupid.

Any visit won't make them look more royal or shore up their popularity, or sell more jam because it's just more of the same rodeo the press and the Sussexes have been riding for years. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️🤷

He's off his trolley

BigWillyLittleTodger · 17/06/2026 17:18

Why on earth has it been announced on the BBC news that they are coming in July yet Royal Ascot doesn’t even get a mention? So sick of our national media, that we pay for, giving airtime to this pair of nasty grifters.

Oh they're dreadful. Did you see any of the coverage of the quasi royal Australian tour?
The BBC honestly reported as if it were an official royal tour, focusing on Meghan and Harry at Bondi beach being "humanitarian".
An event at which Meghan merched her clothes, but no mention of that. Shameful.

Not2identifying · 17/06/2026 17:24

It's easy to forget how vicious Harry has been to his family members; what I've remembered is the general negative impression I have of him. But it's definitely worth reading again, from the horse's mouth (so to speak), just what he said. So, thank you @Mylovelygreendress

Not2identifying · 17/06/2026 17:26

Maybe the BBC has taken a side as William no longer works with them since the Diana/Bashir scandal and his statement about that?

Obviously I realise the BBC are supposed to be neutral but I've seen plenty of evidence of strong bias in their reporting that's got nothing to do with the royals.

I remember when the Guardian was supportive of H&M because they are anti-monarchy but even they now roll their eyes at them.

On the BBC News homepage.

Perhaps Tom Sykes and his friend aren’t mistaken after all. I wonder if Richard Eden and his Project Thaw will be vindicated? If this happens, if they get half in half out, Charles will lose a lot of goodwill. All the respect he gained in Washington will be gone.

Archie is hugging his father, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, while Meghan is bent to eye-level and holding hands with Lilibet, as they all stand on what appears to be carved mini wooden bridge over a brook among trees.

Harry and Meghan to bring Archie and Lilibet to UK

It will be the first time the Duke of Sussex has brought his children to the UK in four years.

This type of 'article' is why I'm saying that there will be massive media coverage if the whole family comes. Live blogs, headlines, front page photos, the lot.

And while I'm certainly not suggesting we should automatically trust the BBC, the fact that they are saying they 'understand' the whole family is coming makes me think it's probably true. But I guess we'll find out soon enough. Either way, I don't think 'half in half out' is on the table at all. Charles may not even agree to meet them.

Not2identifying · 17/06/2026 17:32

They are still a million miles away from half in, half out and I don't think Meghan particularly wants that either. Baby steps. But I really hope nobody in the UK is thinking baby steps might one day lead to half in, half out. I don't think they will. The RF have got absolutely nothing to gain from half in, half out.

The public has got used to a much 'smaller' royal family. Just look at how sparse the Trooping balcony is now compared to Harry's last appearance in 2019. Even putting aside Harry and Meghan's obnoxious behaviour, the whole concept of 'working royals' is starting to look a bit archaic. There's simply no 'need' for them anymore.

Apart from trying to stop two possibly bankrupt, vindictive, talentless arseholes from stooping to reality TV or some such for money, and dragging the RF down with them. Maybe keeping enemies close is the strategy, giving them some sort of official role and money on the proviso they stfu otherwise. Much like the governor gig they gave to EdwardVIII.

Thedom · 17/06/2026 17:37

Meghan and the kids, another upstaging of Invictus. No one will give a crap about Invictus.

I do hope they come though, it will be loads of fun and games watching the antics and the interviews.

It's been nearly 7 years since the Sussexes were working royals. They've done the interview, the 'tell all' book, the NF series. What more have they really got to spill? They're little more than an annoyance now, and becoming more irrelevant by the day.

Whereas Edward had been an actual King and remained quite popular after his abdication. He had a completely different level of influence to these two chancers.

Absolutely this.
It's not going to happen, because to be a working royal you represent the monarch and the UK.
They can't be trusted. They're not capable. They'd just do it for the merching.

Passingthrough123 · 17/06/2026 17:41

Even if the four of them do come, who on earth in the family other than the King will want to spend time with them? If I were Camilla or William or Kate I wouldn't want to ever be in the same room again with either of them because of what he wrote in Spare and what he's said about them in interviews and because of the Oprah racist slur. Plus how would you trust the conversation not to be repeated? If I were Kate and William I wouldn't let the cousins meet either.

MyAutumnCrow · 17/06/2026 17:45

I see M’s wearing her neutral, beige look again there so as to not stand out and just fit in … oh wait …

I mean, it’s hard to unsee all the ‘fuck yous’ now. You can see there’s a clear dress code: the Queen in a bright, light blue, the royal men in RAF blue-grey jackets and matching azure blue shirts, women to be in pale blue, cream, gold.

(I think that’s Prince Richard there at the back btw, properly blending in and being respectful to the protocol, the RAF, and the people - the event was to mark 100 years of the Royal Air Force.)

So beige lil Meg turns up in her so-dark-navy-it’s-black shiny funereal outfit with full clavicle on display and wearing the remains of a bird’s nest bonnet that last saw service at one of Beatrice’s bouji Halloween parties. Funny how Harry, as always, got the memo but didn’t let her know.

My FiL served in the RAF in the Middle East and I think it was disrespectful to make it ‘modelling Dior over commemorating the Airforce’.

Starryfifty · 17/06/2026 17:46

I think they will be offered a minor role. Which is absolutely not what they deserve
If his marriage is in the can, KC might think it's best for them all if H remains married. Apologies this is behind a paywall
