Footage of Charlotte

Does anyone else feel really uncomfortable about the photos the RF have put out of Charlotte today? Likewise the photo of them all lying in the sand. I feel those photos should be personal . She’s only 11, on holiday and those moments should be private.

They aren't private moments. It was a photoshoot for the purpose of sharing the output.

So, no. Not that I've watched any "footage" and probably spent a few seconds skimming the photos before moving on.

ajandjjmum · 02/05/2026 17:20

They have released a very short video thanking everyone for their good wishes. I think it's really sweet - think she's aiming for the England Women's cricket team!

Roads · 02/05/2026 17:22

The video is incredibly short and she will have been involved in choosing the photos. I really don't understand why you'd find it uncomfortable?

StandOutSpace · 02/05/2026 17:22

Its litterally created and curated for public view. She isnt living her life with the constant intrusion via social meda that so many kids have these days "ooh baby lottie just did her first poo in the potty!" With pic...

Its a lovely video and just a tiny snapshot into her life

A photo shoot where she is performing for the camera only and not just a family holiday? I wouldn’t say it was a photo shoot for PR purposes only and if it is that’s even worse really.

No, I don’t feel uncomfortable about the photos.

They were released by her parents, with their full knowledge and consent.

As to your second post, it makes no difference to me if it was a PR shoot or not.

Dearover · 02/05/2026 17:42

They took a photographer with them to Cornwall to take the official photos. That's literally the deal, so they DON'T get random photos of them on a day out with friends or on their way too & from school. Random snippets of the children appearing to behave naturally are perfectly curated & controlled.

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 02/05/2026 17:43

Lol have you seen what parents put on social media these days? Charlotte is fine.

DappledThings · 02/05/2026 17:43

About 20 seconds of footage and a couple of photos? It's hardly having the paparazzi invited to her whole life.

LIZS · 02/05/2026 17:47

It would have been a few hours out of their holiday at most. I’m sure they got other more personal pictures too.

PrincessofWells · 02/05/2026 17:47

Charlotte was at our local leisure centre taking part in a trampoline competition recently and it was all very normal, even though Catherine was there. They are having a pretty well adjusted upbringing in comparison to Charles.

No. I think, whilst informal in style, they have been carefully chosen and Charlotte understands and consents to that. She was almost certainly involved in the process.

I am sure they have many, many more candid/ personal videos and photos that we will never see.

I think they get the balance right. We don’t see them apart from official royal events and their birthday/Christmas photos/videos. It is all carefully managed. Think W & C are doing an amazing job of bringing them up and preparing them to cope with life in the Royal family.

IdaGlossop · 02/05/2026 17:53

They don't make me uncomfortable in the least. The Wales's are acknowledging that in exchange for their immense privilege, they respond to public interest in their children. Film, photos and public appearances are the way they do that. Absurd really, but as we have seen this week in the US, royalty has a magic not afforded elected leaders.

Typo

BillericayDickie · 02/05/2026 17:56

Just googled and saw a lovely photo of her in a striped top.
she really does look like her dad.

theresnolimits · 02/05/2026 17:57

She was at a swimming gala I attended last year as was Catherine. No press, no photos. I think that is the deal - the press get their carefully curated shots and the children get to live with some privacy. If they didn’t agree to these photo ops, they’d be chased down everywhere. Win-win.

crawlingovertheline · 02/05/2026 17:57

They DID make me feel sorry for her (my daughter is same age), I agree OP but I don’t think anyone should share their kids lives online. That said, it’s inevitable for them of course.

Oh OK. I suppose that’s a bit different then.

No, I don't feel remotely uncomfortable about the video.

It was less than half a minute long and not intrusive at all. The reality is that she's going to be a public figure, even if she never becomes a working royal, so it's good for her to be gradually introduced to the public. She and her brothers are clearly much loved and their parents have found a good balance between dealing with inevitable public interest and protecting their children's privacy.

Unlike poor Harper Beckham being thrust into the limelight.

Well yes. My DIL posts every minute of my GC’s lives on social media. I really hate it.

I very much liked the wee video and portrait photo of Charlotte. When I saw the portrait it instantly made me think of how big 2 of my grandchildren who are the same age of Charlotte are getting.

Rhaidimiddim · 02/05/2026 18:14

Extend the logic and there'd be no child actors on TV or in film, ever. (Or in knitting patterns or Pamper ads.)

Can't get too worked up about it actually.
