Footage of Charlotte

Does anyone else feel really uncomfortable about the photos the RF have put out of Charlotte today? Likewise the photo of them all lying in the sand. I feel those photos should be personal . She’s only 11, on holiday and those moments should be private.

OP, I am sorry, but your thought process in seeing a short video of an 11 year old in shorts is very worrying ! I hope you are just trying to dig yourself out of a hole and have ended up unintentionally digging a bigger one for yourself.

"a beautiful pre pubescent girl"
What?
Yes, you are completely over reacting. One picture showed her in a pair of shorts.
There was nothing, absolutely nothing, inappropriate about those pictures.

God almighty! It's really very strange.

Yes - they aren’t working royals now, it’s not a given that Charlotte and Louis will be working royals and the history of both Andrew and Harry should make the royal family reject the idea that the “spares” should be working royals. It’s very clear having anyone other than the heir as a working royal only is a good idea until the heir is married with children.

When the royal children are over 18, if they want to become working royals then they should be introduced to the public. There is no need other than nosiness for us to know what they look like now. The should not be doing public engagements now.

All of the children should get a choice.

But even if they are never working royals, they will frequently attend public events as the children and siblings of the monarch. So they will be public figures with a high profile no matter what they choose to do.

I think it's bizarre that you're saying that they should be prevented from attending events that they'd really enjoy, such as Wimbledon or major football matches, just in case the public might know what they look like! They're not going to be traumatised for life by attending the occasional public event. I find that way of thinking bizarre. Or would it be fine if they attended with masks over their faces? Because god forbid the public know what they look like!

You're also ignoring my earlier point about how hiding the childen away would massively encourage press intrusion and public curiosity in a very unhealthy manner.

Ok I bow out.

You are being absolutely ridiculous. There are many things in the world to get disturbed or unsettled by, this is not one of them

Ok I bow out.

I hope this thread helps you reflect on your very unusual response to seeing some perfectly normal photos of a child and her family.

Well they need to keep her in the public eye just a bit if they want to keep any semblance of the RF going. Enough for the old biddies to coo over.

No it’s absolutely fine and your being ridiculous

I didn’t say they couldn’t go to public events - but not in official capacity. Eg William and Harry both were taken to football matches as children, but sat in the stands in normal clothes , not in suits in the VIP section /box.

It is a choice to take them to events in an official capacity. It’s not necessary to train them for working royal duties as children, other than training them to believe this is the only career option for them (followed by press questions in their late 30s when they are no longer needed as to why they haven’t got a proper job).

sonjadog · 03/05/2026 08:41

I have no interest in the royals but this thread made me go find the video. What a lot of fuss about nothing. An entirely normal video of an 11 year old girl wearing 11 year old girl clothing. There is something odd about the OP if she sees anything other than that in that video...

And this is the real reason - William must know it’s really not good for the children’s mental health to be raised in the public eye, he must look at his brother and fear that being his younger dcs future, but also he’s under pressure to use his dcs to promote himself and his position.

They are no better parents than the insta-parents using their dcs to advertise Disney cruises.

sunflowersintheday · 03/05/2026 08:50

They're not being "raised in the public eye". It's a couple of photos a year, at most, in a neutral setting and maybe a couple of formal events, like Trooping the Colour.
We never see any more than that. The Wales protect their children, and they're certainly not promoting them, like insta parents.

ReneePaloma · 03/05/2026 08:53

I mean she’s 11. Old enough to decide which photos she’s happy to share with the public and which ones she’s not. She probably really likes those particular photos of herself.

Come on! You're really reaching now and I think you know it.

First you were saying nobody should know what they look like. Now you're saying it's fine for them to attend public events so long as they dress informally? Even though they'll be with their parents in VIP seating which often have dress codes?

So basically it's fine for people to know what they look like so long as they're wearing jeans? Is that what you're saying?

She was at a swimming gala I attended last year as was Catherine. No press, no photos. I think that is the deal - the press get their carefully curated shots and the children get to live with some privacy. If they didn’t agree to these photo ops, they’d be chased down everywhere. Win-win.

How do the organisers ensure this, I wonder?

Did they make any announcement of no photos to be taken of any child?

ditto the trampolining that a PP mentioned above

IcedPurple · 03/05/2026 09:05

And George at Aston Villa.

I guess you approve of this photo?

What an odd presumption. Why wouldn’t she? She’s reportedly to be on the parents WhatsApp group, hosted play dates etc. What makes you think she wouldn’t be chatting to the other parents at trampolining?

Maybe they are different trampolining competitions to the ones I used to go to. There would be no way of maintaining her security at those. And it would be incredibly unlikely that there wouldn’t be sneaked photos. There would be parents from lots of different clubs, not just her own club, so an incredibly complex vetting procedure.

Well they go, and it happens, so there must be.
Just because you've not experienced it, doesn't make it untrue.

Anne is a spare, Edward is a spare, QEII’s father was a spare, as was QEII to begin with. The Dukes of Kent and Gloucester are spares further down the line. Being a spare doesn’t equate to being a fuck up
like Andrew and Harry. In fact, being a spare is probably the best place to be for someone with a good character and intelligence. It’s a shame neither Andrew nor Harry have those qualities.

I agree. Plenty of them have managed to carve out productive lives without being complete arses.

Just to be clear. They are lovely photos and videos. I think W and K seem to be doing a fantastic job. I think all the kids seem incredibly well adjusted and happy . I suppose I just wonder if some of those photos of a beautiful pre pubescent girl might be viewed in the wrong way by the wrong sort of person. Maybe I’m just being really paranoid. That’s what the shorts comment was about.
I didnt realise that the family had used an official photographer. Kate has taken a lot of photos herself of family holidays in the past , but obviously the shot of them lying down was taken by someone else.

It was viewed in the wrong way by you. Nobody else saw anything except a kid in appropriate attire for a day out.
