I don't think PW will need extra working royals. he will just have to be one.

Oh look, did I just see a pig flying past?

I've no doubt he works on his property portfolio to increase its value.

Anything else, not so much.

The problem with paring it back too hard has already been highlighted by Charles very early on.

They could be self-sustaining, but they aren’t. Public hunger for people parading around is getting lower with each generation. I’d be surprised if they make it far beyond the next decade.

Zara and Mike will never ever get involved in royal duties, except showing their face at a Royal garden party or in a carriage at Ascot. They lead a very charmed life, they spend a lot of time in Australia and to be honest they are not the slightest bit formal or royal, like royals do it. Have a look at pics of them in Oz! And do we really want an ex rugby player podcaster with a bit of a dodgy past doing royal duties?

And didn't I read somewhere that Louise has already said she doesn't want to do royal duties? Or maybe Sophie hinted that, can't remember.

I've always assumed Louise would lead a fairly low-key life.

MidWayThruJanuary · 12/03/2026 19:55

@Carla786
I think so too. As will her brother.

I think that would be best.

I also think it would better for Charlotte & Louis to lead a more low-key life. I suppose the question then is, if George becomes king, would it be too much pressure, aside from all the other issues?

He is completely classless.

Hmmm, QE2 applied for a poverty grant to heat the palaces and it had to be explained that it was for schools, hospitals and grants for low income families.

They will always try.

She managed to get the tax rate on shooting at Balmoral reduced to below that paid by local hospitality business and both she and C3 took substantial EU farming and agriculture subsidies pre-Brexit.

Utterly shameless.

MidWayThruJanuary · 12/03/2026 20:20

So she was a grifter too. Enabled by democratically elected governments.

GoldBthehypo · 12/03/2026 20:22

They are all grifters some hude it better than others

She seems very unassuming.

Let's hope it stays that way because the days of endless minor runners and riders playing Lord or Lady Bountiful are well and truly over.

He is completely classless.

Speaking of classless, his missus was pictured at Cheltenham today bessying up with Carole Middleton who in turn was swinging a stonkingly expensive handbag in her luckless creditors' faces.

As always, you simply couldn't make this shit up.

One would hope so, but I’m not so sure.

Zara was with Eugenie earlier in the week, Tuesday I think

Didn't manage to hide this one....and whilst the money was then donated to a charity...still why are they allowing people to think they can even do this. And looks like even William isnt so pure himself, hob knobbing with dubious people ...maybe he learnt this from his Uncle...or his Dad...Charles selling access to the palace by the looks of it...

'Studz'?!

I don't know whether to laugh, cry or just shake my head in utter bewilderment at the people these people choose to get on board with.

Has W learned nothing from Papa's near misses in the cash-for-access controversies?

Did no-one among his huge army of staff see fit to advise him?

I despair.

MidWayThruJanuary · 12/03/2026 21:17

It’s all part of the behaviour that allowed Epstein to become enmeshed with wealthy men the world over.

MidWayThruJanuary · 12/03/2026 21:18

I don’t think W is the type to take advice from staff - not unlike his uncle AMW.

Voracious, shameless greed. They have no dignity

Then you've got this. The duchy's solution is to transfer ownership of the land to Wigan Council.

Charles is a billionaire, it would be relative pennies for him to get this cleared, but of course it would set a precedent of him putting his hand in his own pocket instead of other people's.

MidWayThruJanuary · 13/03/2026 09:07

They are all take and no give when it comes to money.

VictorianChic · 13/03/2026 09:33

The old queen got away with a lot of grifting and dubious behaviour because of the “stoical sense of duty” stuff.

Billy Idle won’t have as much scope when he gets the big job.

Thanks for the link. That controversy had gone a bit quiet hadn't it?

Good for Andy Burnham not letting it lie.

In other news I have ordered the 'Blackfish' documentary.

Maybe I'll pass it on to W when I've watched it 😃

The more I learn about the Royal family the more distasteful and unpleasant they sound.
I have gone from being a moderately pro royals to wondering what the next revelation will bring and wishing that there was the opportunity to get rid of all of them.
The avarice and greed is sickening, let alone the appalling behaviour of the Yorks.
Just when did it start going so dreadfully wrong?

Centuries ago.

The "wrong" is that it's easier for us ordinary mortals to find out and share information about them.

Let's face it, neither successive governments or the press have wanted to upset this family too much.

William's favourite animal charities are only because it's good PR to have them.

They obviously don't mean anything because if they did he wouldn't be hobnobbing with the man who owns, uses, and seemingly abuses animals for entertainment.

The two things are probably completely unconnected in William's low brow mind.
