Centuries ago.

The "wrong" is that it's easier for us ordinary mortals to find out and share information about them.

Let's face it, neither successive governments or the press have wanted to upset this family too much.

Absolutely. If it wasn't for social media, investigative journalists, royal historians who are prepared to put money into researching and requests for freedom information, we would know nothing. So much has been going on for so long

Today I have a seen video doing rounds on sm of William speaking in an angry tone to his PR person telling him to do his job and get rid of some reporters.....

Seems like bullying and anger issues seem rife in the RF...

Speaking of classless, his missus was pictured at Cheltenham today bessying up with Carole Middleton who in turn was swinging a stonkingly expensive handbag in her luckless creditors' faces.

As always, you simply couldn't make this shit up.

I believe that Carole's winding up of her company was perfectly legal and complied with regulations . However , for those small traders who were left with unpaid invoices , it isn't a great look to be swinging a £20k handbag , even if you have borrowed your hat from your daughter. I think I read she said she would pay those unpaid debts. It would be pretty to think so ( quote , Hemingway ) But I'm not privy to her private finances and nor should I be. I hope she did though.

There are lots of videos on the internet that can be used to support all sides of the debate.

I usually assume that they are created in some way, probably AI-generated, as ones that are real are likely to reach mainstream media at some point.

Yeah - that’s not what that video shows.

You piqued my interest because that’s not how it works on Royal engagements so I searched Twitter for it and found it there and on Reddit.

First, William is very clearly not angry, he and Kate are walking and talking to someone at Borough Market and you see William spot the press pool of photographers ahead, he quickly (and calmly and politely) asks his Comms person to get the press pack to move back a bit so that they are not blocking the way and getting in the way of the public access.

Having been in press pools like that covering Royal engagements you do get herded around a little but it’s needed because there are so many different reporters and photographers jostling for the prime spot to get the best access.

He wasn’t trying to get rid of them he was getting them to back up and create some space for the engagement they were trying to do - the comms person should really have been on top of that though before William needed to intervene.

Also it was interesting that using ‘Prince William angry’ as the search term brought up loads of manipulated videos claiming how awful and angry William is all the time. Including one which was of him having an animated chat about football to a member of the public but had been sped up to make it look like he was being really angry.

There’s definitely a social media campaign to try to smear William at the moment.

Are you a Royal reporter?
I'm curious because I imagined the whole idea of having a Royal Rota was to avoid so many different reporters and jostling.

I was amused at some footage I saw which I think was Borough Market where W and Kate were there doing something at a counter and there was a guy completely oblivious and uninterested tucking into his lunch. It was funny 😂

No - I was a journalist in the UK a long time ago and got sent on a few jobs covering Royal visits. But it wasn’t my ‘beat’. The Royal rota on a specific engagement includes both the big name royal reporters and also local and regional press.

So it can get quite large if it’s in a big city because you can have 2 people per national newspapers, 2 per the local paper, BBC often sends main national team but then the local radio usually send someone too, plus the regional TV station. You have to have sharp elbows to get a good spot.

A couple of the jobs I did were minor royals like the Duchess of Gloucester opening a charity event - no big press pack for those usually just a couple of local press show up. So you don’t need a rota pass for those and there’s minimal contact from the BP press office.

But I did a couple when covering the Queen and then you have to submit info ahead of time and get a briefing pack about the engagement - and an in person briefing at the start of the day if you are going to be traveling to several different locations. They tell you where you’ll be able to set up camera, microphones etc, how close you can get.

The first time I was quite taken aback by how strict the female press officer was with us - felt like being lectured by a head teacher but then when the engagement started I realized how vicious it can get within the press scrum with everyone jostling for the best spot.

wordler · 13/03/2026 17:55

And yes the rota does keep
numbers down as it chooses how many press organizations are allowed to send a team.

For super sensitive engagements they restrict it down to one camera operator, one photographer and one reporter - like the Queen’s last engagement at Balmoral with Liz Truss but then the footage has to be given as pool footage to everyone.

Thank you for the explanation @wordler

The business was rather intriguingly restructured from a partnership of decades' standing (unlimited liablity) to a limited company a couple of years or so before going under.

The outstanding debt was some £2.6m comprised of the best part of £1m to HMRC and an outstanding Covid relief loan ( so another deprivation of the public purse), the fees to the company handling the insolvency and sundry creditors.

The Middletons continue to live in their very comfortable gaff, enjoy luxury holidays and as we've seen just this week strut around with the RF at various events.

Nothing was paid off and nothing has changed for them despite leaving so many high and dry.

Apologies to Hemingway 😉

I don't know the timings without looking but I think William bought or contributed to the Middletons a new £4.2 million house

Mandelson and AMW in bathrobes, Epstein fully dressed. What went on just before or after that photo was taken?

I wasn't aware of that.

If that's the case he would IMO have done better to settle the outstandings while basking in the rosy glow of the PR generated.

Is he incapable of avoiding his foot with a shotgun?!

Edited

The dressed/undressed conundrum was exactly what struck me.

Powerplay and MW and Mandy were either too stupid or dazed with excess to recognise it.

simpsonthecat · 14/03/2026 06:57

I think AMW in particular would have thought of himself as a Very Important Person having a business meeting with other important people and look at me I am even in my bathrobe but I have important things to say so feel free to take a picture, I am too important to be worried about being in my bathrobe

Isn't it amusing how some people decry William and are suckered in based on what they normally describe as a brief moment in time. When it's certain other people they favour, it's a fleeting second but with others it's a detailed CV of their character and morals.

RainbowBagels · 14/03/2026 09:13

MidWayThruJanuary · 12/03/2026 20:20

So she was a grifter too. Enabled by democratically elected governments.

This is the worst thing. They are brought up with an enormous sense of superiority and entitlement, so of course they think they are entitled to everything. But it is up to elected government to act in our best interests and tell them no, instead of having them everything they want.

Ukisgaslit · 14/03/2026 11:16

I haven’t read the full thread but someone mentioned that Borough market nonsense
What the hell was that ?
They turned up ( busy place - make it look like people want to see them - old PR trick they’ve been using along with busing in school children ) and Kate made a coffee and William refused to drink it . And ?? Is it just churning out photos to try to push Andrew off the pages ? So transparent .

Ukisgaslit · 14/03/2026 11:17

@iwouldshagtomhardy

The press have been describing William as ‘ incandescent’ and ‘furious’ for decades

Ukisgaslit · 14/03/2026 12:20

If it is the same place ( I’m not sure ) then the coffee stall helps train the homeless . That is a very good cause .
That makes whatever William thought he was doing worse . Why refuse to drink a coffee if you are supposed to be promoting it ?
