So Meghan lost her fathers number but is ringing round hospitals and will send a handwritten note, as per Sussex sources speaking through the Sun, the Telegraph and the Times.

I mean I have no idea, how it works with PR for very famous people, but surely there are scenarios they prep for?

Her dad is in his 80s, severely obese and has suffered ill health for years. You would think, there would be protocol in what to do should the worst happen.

That would include having up to date contact info. This isn’t something Meg would need to have/get involved with if she’s estranged, but surely ‘The Office of the DDOS’ would. Then engage in their set plan- whether that’s a public statement that this is a private affair or that contact has been made through the proper channels.

Whatever this is, it isn’t professional-it’s complete chaos.

I heard a term recently: resource vampires.

Is that apt in this case ? I think it seems so.

I have worked with resource vampires in the past. Just sucked up and devoured everyone's efforts for stuff that does not matter. The only thing that matters to them is THEM.

Meghan is basically an aspiring influencer, and Harry does the occasional speech for some minor organisation. Why the hell do they need a 'comms team'?

She seems really upset that nobody appears particularly interested in her letter and seems to be using "spokesmen/women" to leak the contents. She thought it would be leaked to the press and she could play the victim again

Yes, @Lunde, and if criticism spreads about her having harangued a sick man I've no doubt there'll be further revelations about more pleasant things she included in the letter

As so many of us have said this whole thing could have been avoided with a simple statement that it's a private family matter, but that would require dignity and Meghan doesn't appear to have any

This thread cracks me up, first there are comments on the article about how awful she is she hasn't contacted him, pages of comments including a whole other thread about him of how she is should of contacted him, then turns out the DM didn't fact checked and she had but was having difficulty getting through to him. Now she has and is making it known since the media cant be bothered to report things properly, and you are all now saying how awful it is that she is telling the media and she should of kept it quiet.

So seriously.....if you are going to say its awful she didnt get in touch and then now say its awful she isnt keep it quiet that she has....what do you want? Cos seems like she can't do it right regardless.

She is a multimillionaire. She could fly to see him. She could have him repatriated. Privately. But she won't do that.

I don't find Meghan or her father to be behaving particularly well in this situation. They both run to the press at every opportunity in an attempt to gain the moral high ground and the fact that they would rather speak to the press than each other is sad.

Neither is coming out of this well. I still maintain that The Mail is coming out worse than anyone though.

It's seriously odd behaviour to have a letter to your seriously ill father delivered by lawyers and insist the handover is videoed.

Who said Im supporting her. Your post actually has made me feel abit of sympathy for her because people like you who say she cant do it right and constantly criticise her no matter what she does.

She does x you critcise her saying she should do y, she does y and you criticise her saying she should do x.

Blimey most people would be saying poor woman in that case.

I’m not posting support - although actually I see no issue with her not wanting to send a letter to her father given that a journalist is his carer 🙄.

Please do go onto the threads on this board where posters who have gone no contact with their family members and tell them what awful people they are for doing so. Or is it different for them?

Acknowledge the hypocrisy, acknowledge the unreasonable hate and at least everyone is being honest about things. Pretending this is some sort of clever critique is what is so ridiculous.

Posters seem totally okay that William isn’t prepared to offer an olive branch supposedly on the basis that he can’t possibly trust M&H but that is not okay if she feels the same way about her dad who is willing to say anything to the press about her for money?! And that’s not hypocrisy?
