So Meghan lost her fathers number but is ringing round hospitals and will send a handwritten note, as per Sussex sources speaking through the Sun, the Telegraph and the Times.

I mean I have no idea, how it works with PR for very famous people, but surely there are scenarios they prep for?

Her dad is in his 80s, severely obese and has suffered ill health for years. You would think, there would be protocol in what to do should the worst happen.

That would include having up to date contact info. This isn’t something Meg would need to have/get involved with if she’s estranged, but surely ‘The Office of the DDOS’ would. Then engage in their set plan- whether that’s a public statement that this is a private affair or that contact has been made through the proper channels.

Whatever this is, it isn’t professional-it’s complete chaos.

As a daft thought, I can't imagine many Girl Scouts doing a cookie round in their neighborhood.

All visitors by appointment only, and everyone subject to metal detectors and searches. I wonder if the cookies would even get past the food taster.

So she used the letter to reach out to him to chastise him? What’s the point in that when he is in hospital?

I think the letter will have been written in the expectation ( hope?) that it will be leaked which will give H and M another excuse to cut TM off .
Why the need to tell anyone she had sent a letter ?

Oh yes @AutumnCrown Also apart from the coathanger advent flare - The one I made from Blue Peter was Sindy's KItchen . Cardboard box , front cut off , small box for kitchen cabinets , sticky back plastic - which everyone in my world knew was fablon - does that still exist ? , margarine / butter plastic tub as the sink , bit of wall paper . I was very proud of mine. I may have to start an seperate thread. 😂

I remember making the "house" one although it was hard to get the pencils out!

Yes, I think so, @Mylovelygreendress, hence the sentence 'The duchess is said to hope the letter to her father remains private.'

Though, of course, she can let people know what is in it ...

She seems really upset that nobody appears particularly interested in her letter and seems to be using "spokesmen/women" to leak the contents. She thought it would be leaked to the press and she could play the victim again.

Does she have "5 friends" who will call People magazine?

She doesn't seem to have many original ideas so she has cycled back to the time when she was popular and the letter/5 friends article got her a lot of attention.

I don't really understand her strategy here - she makes a big thing in the press about reaching out to her father in ICU (who was thought at the time to be critically ill/ dying) - but it turns out to have been a scolding by letter. What was the point? Part of me wonders if she was all geared up for a "grieving daughter" PR push and is somewhat miffed now it appears he will survive.

She does love to kick him when he’s down doesn’t she, that is not normal behaviour, in fact that is quite a sadistic thing to do and to then tell the press about the contents of said letter, yet tells her father the reason she wants nothing to do with him is because he spoke to the media….. she is a deeply unpleasant woman.

The DM have detailed how Meghan got the letter to her father, it makes for awful reading! US embassy involved, head of hospital involved, lots of legal documents to be signed by the father before the handing over, and a final ‘evidence’ video of the embassy staff handing the letter to her father. She really shouldn’t have bothered.

What the hell is wrong with the woman. Everything she does is so attention seeking and filled with unnecessary drama.

Do the Sussexes (or their supporters) never see the irony/hypocrisy of what her father has done to her and what the Sussexes have done to the RF? Birds of a feather.

Could she not have just posted it like anyone else would?

I see she’s using the ‘it’s too dangerous for me to travel’ excuse for not visiting him in person.

YEP, or send a tracked FEDEX document package, with signed for delivery. Its done all the time, for a lot more important stuff than a personal letter.

According to the DM journalist, her PR people have been pretty aggressive with her, amplifies not only the kind of fans she attracts but also the employees she hires.

Interesting again it’s a “he” referenced - so not Meredith.

The only known men on her comms team were Kyle Boulia and Charlie Gipson both of whom left in the summer this year. So is this an external rep at Method communications?

Strange for a matter of this level of sensitivity not to be handled by her chief communications officer - I think that adds further weight to the rumours Meredith may have left.

I have no idea! He was as of this summer when they had the “reconciliation / diary coordination” meeting.

but his role (if still there) is related specifically to communications and media in the U.K. and Europe - so hard to see why he would be a primary spokesman for an issue playing out between the US and the Philippines!

As an aside another interesting nugget I noticed is that Meghan apparently deleted her father’s number just after her wedding in 2018. So she made the decision to completely cut him out of her life really early on - all his subsequent interviews have nothing to do with it.

I think the circumstances in which the letter was delivered were really cold hearted - forcing a very poorly old man in his hospital bed to be videotaped receiving a letter from a daughter who he hasn’t seen in over seven years.
