So Meghan lost her fathers number but is ringing round hospitals and will send a handwritten note, as per Sussex sources speaking through the Sun, the Telegraph and the Times.

I mean I have no idea, how it works with PR for very famous people, but surely there are scenarios they prep for?

Her dad is in his 80s, severely obese and has suffered ill health for years. You would think, there would be protocol in what to do should the worst happen.

That would include having up to date contact info. This isn’t something Meg would need to have/get involved with if she’s estranged, but surely ‘The Office of the DDOS’ would. Then engage in their set plan- whether that’s a public statement that this is a private affair or that contact has been made through the proper channels.

Whatever this is, it isn’t professional-it’s complete chaos.

I love her incorrect use of language, when she so obviously tries to impress upon us how very clever she is.

She thinks “archetypes” means “labels that hold us back”, very clearly getting confused with “stereotypes”.

She uses “codify” when the correct word is “decode”.

This, plus her word salads (and very awkward syntax in The Tig), show us what a weak communicator she is.

I wouldn’t comment if she didn’t so often say things like “I was always the clever one”…

Particularly as she hasn't always hated him. Even if things have soured now, he was supportive of her, and she of him.

However, why is he poor? US dollars in the Philippines should stretch far.

I’m not sure he has many of those either. They all seem pretty useless with money.

Yup. Poor folk don't retire to Mexico then move to the Philippines.

I knew a guy done the same. Really good pension. He lives in the Philippines now, tried a couple other countries. It's a lifestyle choice.

No, it’s money. Could be the affordability of medical treatment and carers as TM’s health has not been good for a while.

He would surely qualify for medicaid or medicare in the US, or whatever one applies to pensioners on SS.

How do we know this?

Why is he so poor if he is? He had a great job, sent at least one daughter to a very expensive school.

Unlikely to get international insurance if been ill for a long time.

Cheaper than the US, but I don't know how it works for Americans in the US who are on SS and medicaid.

Mexico is cheaper than the US too, and it is a popular medical tourism destination for Americans.

I still say lifestyle choice. Because he was already in Mexico, so why go to the Phills ?

Didn’t he invest badly and lose it all? And I remember reading he was very generous towards his children after winning the lottery. He spent money to privately educate Meghan at a top school and gave money to Thomas Jnr so that he could start up a flower shop business. I suppose he did something equally generous for Samantha too. All of that would have eaten up a bit chunk of his winnings too.

The DM will be careful about what it prints. MM will be litigious if it’s made up.

Americans pay into savings accounts for college fees for years. They often have substantial money saved. They don’t pay it out of current earnings and there’s loads of discounts available and scholarships. This isn’t proof of him having money at all. Who goes to live in the Philippines if you have enough to get care and stay in USA? He’s living in a cheap flat there and his son is there too. They have been there since January.

Attacking her but her dad being on speed dial to numerous journalists and having a DM journalist by his bedside - that’s all absolutely fine and he’s just a stand up father.

She didn’t write to him, oh she did but she didn’t do it soon enough, he’s got a journalist by his side but that’s okay because someone should he even though said journalist put him on the front page when he’s supposedly sick, he should have someone advocating for him and it should be Meghan for some wild reason even though he constantly sells her out.

Posters are so consumed with hatred for her that what is undeniably disgusting from the media and her father is somehow her fault!

I think her fees were paid for by a lottery win which was spent a long time ago.

Re the wrapping of the wine bottle....crazy! When wine bottle bags are so perfect for the job and easily reusable.

She's got nothing on Jackie. I remember an article in my Jackie annual one year showing how to wrap things - the one that stands out in my memory was how to wrap a tennis racket so it looked like a bunch of flowers.
They didn't give bottles as presents in the Jackie days of yore, but I bet they could have come up with something better than a scarf.

As someone else said this day was always going to come and should have been thought about beforehand. As usual the two don't see any further than the end of their noses.

Wrapping a wine bottle in slippery fabric seems like an accident waiting to happen.

If only there were a wide selection of pretty bags specifically designed to hold bottles! The #pippatips aspect of it all is cracking me up.

If I picked up a beautiful silk scarf in a thrift shop that would be the present , not the wrapping. 😂

Well it fits under PR disaster. Harry’s court case in January….things don’t look good for the claimants ….at all!

‘Baroness Lawrence's Case (One of the Seven Claimants):
Her witness statement claimed Jonathan Rees confirmed he bugged her for the Daily Mail. What she says was confirmed? That the landline was tapped, voicemails were hacked, and covert electronic surveillance.
Jonathan Rees to Dispatches:
"I didn't get involved."
When told her witness statement is based on your confirmation that you had done the bugging operation
Rees replied: "Right, well they're going to have to rethink that, and their legal team is going to have to re-think that."

Baroness Lawrence's entire case is based on confirmation from a guy who now says he didn't do it.
Enter Gavin Burrows (private investigator).
He provided a witness statement claiming he did bugging/hacking for Associated on Harry's behalf. BUT Burrows now says Statement was "false" and his signature was "forged"

Why this matters?

Burrows's claims were instrumental in getting Baroness Lawrence to join the lawsuit. Tracking?
H used Burrows's evidence to recruit other claimants. Still tracking? Good.
ENTER GRAHAM JOHNSON THE PAID RESEARCHER

Who is he?

Former tabloid journalist, convicted of phone hacking, admitted making up stories in his career, now paid £160/hour as researcher to H’s legal team.

Now, what did the Dispatchers find?

Jonathan Rees claims Johnson approached him 7 years ago offering high rewards for information against tabloids, £2,500/month for life for information that would add credence to legal claims.
Rees has no proof, but multiple private detectives say Johnson approached them. That’s something, that counts.

Let’s move on to the Max Mosley Connection
Johnson's company Yellow Press received a £500,000 loan from Max Mosley's company before Mosley died (‘21). Mosley was obsessed with destroying tabloids after his own scandal, and Yellow Press publishes memoirs from journalists/PIs whose info appears in lawsuits against newspapers.
Hugh Grant funded Johnson's research into Daily Mail/Ian Huntley rumors but says: "I have never used the services of Graham Johnson... for evidence gathering for litigation of any kind."

SO WHAT TF DOES THIS MEAN??

H’s legal team did what?
Used a convicted phone hacker who admitted making up stories as paid researcher
That researcher potentially offered £2,500/month bribes for information
Was funded by Max Mosley's vendetta money
Produced witness statements that are now being recanted or called forged
The judge already warned them (days ago, discussed here ) about the £38m costs and inadequate insurance. Now their evidence base is collapsing.
Trial starts January. If Baroness Lawrence's case crumbles (because Rees denied it), and Burrows recanted his statement, and the paid researcher is a convicted phone hacker allegedly bribing witnesses... Then?’
