She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

Despite being "authentic"( what does that even mean? I've never heard any other person describe themselves in that way) she is still blurring the truth, as she's always done. I'd say she was one of the least authentic people around. Maybe she thinks if she keeps saying it people will eventually believe it..

She cannot even be consistent about the food she ate as a child. Here, and elsewhere, she describes how she ate a lot of ready meals, Doria didn't cook much, yet I've also seen( possibly on MN) a clip of her as a judge on some children's cooking show, and she actually described how she was brought up eating home cooked wholesome food, garden to table etc, the complete opposite of here. So which is the authentic statement?

SisterTeatime · 20/11/2025 13:53

She’s all over the place and the interview is so boring! There is no substance to anything about her.

I agree the pics are not good - she can look almost cross-eyed at certain angles and this photographer has gone with it, for some reason - but I think she looks very nice with less makeup on, her hair looks good and some of the clothes look good too.

The carnation ready milkshake sounds grim. I’d worry it didn’t show my Mum in the best light but who knows the context.

BemusedAmerican · 20/11/2025 14:01

My mother used buy the Carnation ready milkshake powders for us as a treat. You added a flavored packet to milk and it was supposed to give you all your daily nutrients. The chocolate flavor was delicious. I would drink it with toast because I was still hungry after I drank it. It was also expensive so we didn't have it very often.

Bigcat25 · 20/11/2025 14:02

Her being introduced as "Duchess of Sussex" happens twice in the article. The second time is when she's getting off a golf cart. Absolutely wild that she has someone announce that everywhere she goes. Her staff have to pass that instruction on to people like the house mananger, so it's not even just her regular staff that she has doing it.

As far as only reading what the author includes, that's true but there's been other similar comments she's made. In one of her LW episodes she made a toast to "the people who love her most" or something along those lines. I can't remember her exact words but it was strikingly narcissistic.

You have to give it to her, whether you like her or not - she was even more effective than the Middletons, and she did it on her own! One laid a 9-year siege with the support of her family, this one accomplished her task in what, under several months? Sorry, you have to give it to her, amazing solo strategist.

She’s a shrewd operator. I think Piers Morgan called it.
Ten years of Harry, then she’ll upgrade to a billionaire.
Age won’t stop her, look at Lauren Sanchez. It’s the goal.

Kate is different as she fit the wife/mother/role perfectly.
Meghan was already “her own woman”, she’s driving that.
Harry is the accessory to her success, not the other way.

He was merely a stepping stone. A golden opportunity.
I said that she would have been better off staying in RF.
But… That is not her end game. Ten years, then divorce.

FFS what does that even mean?

Flamingos89 · 20/11/2025 14:14

Say what you want about her - but the women is absolutely stunning! Love the outfits

Mylovelygreendress · 20/11/2025 10:09

Pretty sure William will remove their titles in due course .,

I think so too. They will be sleeping on the bench next to Uncle Andrew 😅

AtIusvue · 20/11/2025 14:16

Shrewd and calculated seems apt . From the article:

‘The appearance at the La Brea Tar Pits has wrapped, and now it’s lunchtime at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I’ve followed Meghan underneath the iconic green-and-white-striped awning of the entryway and through the cream-carpeted lobby and outdoors onto the patio, where a live piano player’s notes accompany our procession. Long the see-and-be-seen spot for Hollywood dealmaking and politicking, it is a calculated choice as the site for my first interview with Meghan. We are ushered to a circular table in the corner of the garden, a prime seat where we can see the other diners and they can see the three of us. (The Sussexes’ chief communications officer sits between us.) We order a burger and fries for the table, and Meghan orders the Polo Power Bowl. When it arrives, she holds up the dish, taking genuine delight in the perfectly arranged produce, aligned to make a rainbow. During our conversation, Meghan pauses to chat with the restaurateur Michael Chow (she says his restaurant catered a recent birthday for Prince Harry, or “H,” as she always refers to him) and has a whispered conference with a famous film titan.

WestwardHo1 · 20/11/2025 14:17

Can she even point to Sussex on a map?

Nothing. Nothing at all.

Bigcat25 · 20/11/2025 14:18

Yes, she uses the title obsessively but has zero interest in Sussex itself.

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 20/11/2025 14:19

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 13:27

Yes, I always thought she was a capable woman, which makes the last 5 years quite baffling. That strategy hasn't quite worked out, although to be fair, she's still making the tabloid headlines and getting the clicks on social media.

I thought she was fairly intellgent - decent if not a high flying career in a diffcult industry - so I'm baffled at the constant PR fuck ups.

I could see early days she didn't get royal family/british culture and listened to US PR people and relied on Harry - who seems to know nothing - but everything since - at some point don't you just stop and re-group.

At this point she just seems have fucked off too many people in different circles - it's almost impressive.

“We’re in a grand brownstone on the Upper East Side that belongs to one of Meghan’s friends. When I enter, the house manager announces, “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,” even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house.” 😅Unbelievable. What an ego.

Edited

I'm distracted by whatever on earth a "house manager" is. But aside for that this is sheer utter cringe and definitely something I could see Andy and Ferg insisting on. Wonder if they'll be other similarities between the two couples in years to come!

If he provides enough ££ then no reason to leave. Adoration, love & £.

MaturingCheeseball · 20/11/2025 14:25

She really is, as Graydon Carter observed, and was brought to my attention on MN, Undine Spragg . Anti-heroine of an Edith Wharton novel The Custom of the Country who is constantly and indefatigably on the make. It’s uncanny. It’s as if Meghan (if she, like Undine Spragg, had ever read a novel) were using the book as a manual.

Meghan grew up with Hollywood. Her dad was in the business, she knows what she wants. Harry isn’t rich enough!

People hate this woman more than Andrew, I'm convinced

Everyone hates Andrew apart from the odd nut job, everyone.
The opinion on her is split thats why people talk about it more than Andrew.
I imagine most people feel like I do, massive phoney and utterly bizarre person.

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives...

How many years does she have to be out of the Royal Family before she will admit to it being her own narrative? Currently 5 years and counting ...

She has star power & is able to manipulate men especially. Didn’t H describe her beauty as heart stopping? I think she’s one of those who lights up a room.

Doesn't do it for me, but I'm not likely to be in the same room.

I think he’s secured access to more £ recently, NB: dangly diamonds recent gift. Time will tell. Winning in Montecito is about highest status/most £ - will her love & need for him eclipse that?

Her father was a lighting director on a TV show. That's an admirable achievment, but I wouldn't call it 'growing up with Hollywood'. It's not like she lived in Beverly Hills or was hanging out with the children of celebrities. She would have had a comfortable but fairly mundane childhood.

Auntmaud45 · 20/11/2025 14:31

She reminds me of Anita Rani and seems just as insufferable

That’s exactly why she wants it. She knows what it takes!
