She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

She really is, as Graydon Carter observed, and was brought to my attention on MN, Undine Spragg . Anti-heroine of an Edith Wharton novel The Custom of the Country who is constantly and indefatigably on the make. It’s uncanny. It’s as if Meghan (if she, like Undine Spragg, had ever read a novel) were using the book as a manual.

A sort of Becky Sharp on steroids?

IcedPurple · 20/11/2025 14:33

Gowlett · 20/11/2025 14:31

That’s exactly why she wants it. She knows what it takes!

What it takes is talent and a strong work ethic. She has neither.

She seems to think the world owes her because she is a Duchess. But Hollywood doesn't care what your title is as long as you make money for them. Meghan doesn't.

Gowlett · 20/11/2025 14:34

PinkPanther57 · 20/11/2025 14:32

A sort of Becky Sharp on steroids?

This is exactly what I’m saying. She’s playing the game.

Unpaidviewer · 20/11/2025 14:35

I love that she manages to get under so many peoples skin. The press can't help themselves and the public just eat the shit up. I feel quite indifferent towards her. They have to make money somehow and maybe if I were in her postion I would do similar, I'm not sure.

I struggle to see how Catherine Middleton and workshy William get a far easier ride with both the press and public?

goldtrap · 20/11/2025 14:36

Wow, I learnt a whole lot about the writer there, and what Meghan's 'inner circle' think. And what the press have said. But almost nothing about Meghan herself. A very arch and opaque article. At least Meghan got some good pics out of it.

Sasssquatch · 20/11/2025 14:39

i have no feelings either way on harry and Meghan but I just don’t get the motivation? They don’t need the exposure and could live seven lifetimes on the money they have. It’s peculiar to me that they don’t just live lovely rich people lives out of the glare. Why keep offering yourself up for scrutiny.

bluegreygreen · 20/11/2025 14:43

It's a pity they chose that photo cover - she looks much better in several of the other photos. I wonder if she preferred that pose?

The article doesn't tell us anything different - the usual anecdotes are mentioned but I don't think it even refers to what Meghan's 'moment' that she's meeting is, unless I missed it.

The telling parts for me are the 'Duchess of Sussex' touches, the lack of showing the interviewer to the door, and the description of the LA riots as 'cinematic'.

WendyErica · 20/11/2025 14:44

russiandol · 20/11/2025 10:03

Oh come on she’s just insufferable, she consistently comes across as absolutely dreadful. False, pretentious, thin skinned. It’s not just this interview - she is who she is. I wish them both well, they’ve overcome some tough challenges but they’re a pair of talentless grifters in my opinion.

Can you see how contradictory what you've written is? I'm just curious?

.. because they want to be in the headlines, that's what being a celebrity is all about. It's constantly sharing your life (or a curated version), it's doing everything to remain in the public eye and generate discussion, like this thread. That's what they thrive on, that's what they seek, but in a quasi royal fashion.

For the same reason Kate Middleton insists on being called Catherine, Princess of Windsor.

I don't think she does, particularly as that is incorrect in two respects.

Edit to add - there are videos online of her introducing herself to children as Catherine

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/11/2025 14:46

I suspect also the promises Megan made to Harry about how successful they would be, how great their lives would be, means she is going to keep trying, as accepting they failed and can’t make it work will be too much for her to admit

Very possibly, @Wickedlittledancer, but I do wonder if Harry's come to terms yet with just how badly it's all going, and how he's coping without the much-maligned "men in grey suits" who always made things work for him

Especially now his wife's taken to speaking of him like some kind of pet ...

AtIusvue · 20/11/2025 14:46

So the story is basically the same as The Cut article- she didn’t have a voice, now she’s does, but doesn’t saying anything of note- just comes off as out of touch.

But the optics are VERY different. In the Cut, the writer was greeted by Meg at home, they picked up Archie and she was given a basket of veg as she was turfed out the door. It was designed to show a softer side to Meg after the NF docu.

Now, in just a couple of years, an interview at the Beverly Hills hotel with her management and at a brownstone in NY that has its own glass lift, where she was announced as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and didn’t even see her guest to the door.

When asked in the Cut- about making friends- she says they are still building their community. Now we know at the BH hotel, She was greeting famous chefs and a film titan.

Completely grandiose and I think she’s starting to alienate her fans, who seen her as a hard worker, who was given a rough ride by the RF. Whereas now, along with the Kardashian party, they are starting to see her a social climber, willing to do anything for fame and money.

Notable that the article also mentions the ICE raids in LA etc to contrast the LA world that Meg lives in. Also the Bloomberg interview, she was asked if she had anything to say about the state of politics in 2025 (after she denounced Trump in 2016) and she said she would say something if she wanted to but she has nothing to say. Nothing to say!!!
People are starting to see who she was all along. She lives in a bubble and has zero self awareness, just always on the make and out for herself.

Who? No such title.

I would hope not !
that’s not her title and I would hope that Catherine would know this! ( but you knew that was false didn’t you)

Tiddlywinkly · 20/11/2025 14:48

As a complete aside, do you think she thought that by marrying a prince, she was led to believe she'd get the title of princess? I'd be secretly a bit gutted with dutchess if I were her.

I'm not a fan of the pair of them btw.

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/11/2025 13:39

So it seems.
What an horrible thread.

It's not horrible at all, this person is asking for attention (at the risk of being lampooned) and that's what they're getting!

I never understood why Megan didn't just go back to acting, since that was her actual profession. I never watched Suits but it was quite a big show, so how come she couldn't get other parts?

I can’t stop laughing at the whole announced entrance thing - what a conceited, uncouth, narcissistic twat that woman really is - she’s fucking hilarious!! Please PLEASE someone on South Park or Spitting Image please take the piss!!
I wonder how many of those photographs were copies of Diana poses?!

Edited

I agree.
Classless.

Can you see how contradictory what you've written is? I'm just curious?

You can dislike someone, and find them talentless and awful but still have compassion for the hardships they have faced and wish them well.

as a matter of fact I think it’s their difficult past that has contributed to their annoying personalities and they would probably be nicer people if they’d had stable loving parents throughout their lives.

hope that helps

Also, even on their official social media, she and William make a point of signing off as 'W & K' when the message is of a more personal nature. Presumably to indicate that they are not posting in their official capacity as Prince and Princess of Wales.

For Meghan to go around using her British peerage title for her personal businesses, especially in America, is a bit pathetic and desperate.

We all would. Not everyone has the privilege of a stable background and home life. Most people just have to deal with it, in whatever way, and forge the best life they can.
This is a couple with royal titles, incredible wealth and privilege and opportunities most people could only dream of. I would say that they're more fortunate than most.

You have to give it to her, whether you like her or not - she was even more effective than the Middletons, and she did it on her own! One laid a 9-year siege with the support of her family, this one accomplished her task in what, under several months? Sorry, you have to give it to her, amazing solo strategist.

She certainly is. She also manages to garner far more interest (though vile) on MN than Waity Katie ever could. More power to her.

He loves her Boldly. Is he Captain Kirk?

😆I suspect it means he loves her so much he bores his friends by banging on about how totally wonderful she is - kind, beautiful, the perfect mother etc etc. While they're trying not to smirk.
