She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

”He loves me so boldly…” To borrow from Star Trek, “To boldly go where no man has gone before!” 🤣

She has star power & is able to manipulate men especially. Didn’t H describe her beauty as heart stopping? I think she’s one of those who lights up a room.

It's really not that hard to 'manipulate men', especially a man child like Harry.

And to be perfectly frank, at 44, she's looking at diminishing returns.

She's pretty but not an outstanding beauty imo. California is full of gorgeous women. Meghan really doesn't stand out. I don't see the 'star power' at all. I see a very brittle, self absorbed individual who's very ill at ease with others, and even with herself.

SirChenjins · 20/11/2025 13:08

And the 'I'm having so much fun' claims. It's the sort of fun you claim you're having at a coprorate team building day when your boss asks if you're enjoying the 'fun' activities they've put on at the all-expenses spared event.

Gowlett · 20/11/2025 13:10

I think you have to start from the bottom up.

And Meghan hasn’t. Straight in, once she got a chance.

Even Goop started as just a newsletter.

Montecito mansion? That’s serious A-List turf.

Would have been better off building her royal brand.

Both of them would have been. And the kids.

It does seem like another sly hit piece from a journalist who can't quite stomach the self-regard and grandiosity. There are at least two instances in the article where someone has to announce Meghan as the Duchess of Sussex. It reminds me of that bit in her lifestyle show where she's all 'It's Sussex now! (And don't you dare forget it, bitch!)' She wants to be seen as a self-made girl boss, an inspiring philanthropist, a barefoot, laid-back free-spirit while simultaneously insisting on the red carpet treatment that has clearly been her life's true ambition, and that is why she never really manages to pull off any of her projects.

I wonder if the fancy school made her feel & treated her like trailer trash & this is revenge? Americans respect status & all the ££ kids of upper middle class made her feel less than. I couldn’t believe that parents buy kids BMWs etc as a first car at 17 over there.

jeffgoldblum · 20/11/2025 13:13

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 12:29

Good points, @OtherS . However, what's clear is that she doesn't despise it at all. She absolutely loves it. She loves being royal; the titles, the wealth, the status and the privilege. I always think that the Sussexes and their followers are the biggest royalists of all, because they support the notion of royalty without limits and without officially working. Just royal for being royal.

Well, definitely agree on Harry but I do think she’s got the X factor & has attracted those that worship. Cory V’s whole family apparently loved her.

Also, getting the role on Suits was no mean feat, the competition insane.

True too on CA beauties, but M also has a veneer of class, she’s superficially at least much more intelligent & articulate than average.

truthsayers · 20/11/2025 13:16

from a purely anecdotal perspective, based on a sizeable number of my facebook friends, couples who constantly bang on about how loved up they are, usually aren’t

Nothing screams 'veneer of class' more than posting 4 year old videos of yourself hoiking up your skirt and shaking your arse in the delivery room.

Your average is not my average!

Hons123 · 20/11/2025 13:20

You have to give it to her, whether you like her or not - she was even more effective than the Middletons, and she did it on her own! One laid a 9-year siege with the support of her family, this one accomplished her task in what, under several months? Sorry, you have to give it to her, amazing solo strategist.

Outside9 · 20/11/2025 13:23

People hate this woman more than Andrew, I'm convinced

RedTagAlan · 20/11/2025 13:26

I could not make it through the article. It's generic Hollywood, but without any Hollywood. Namedropping people who are famous for a reason, while having no reason for being famous.

As a commoner Brit, I have always had this image in my head that the Royals have a hankering to go out and be normal for a day. Go for a beer, take a subway. Not too often mind :-)

That is pretty much what they said when they left the firm. And on that premise, many were happy for Harry. He was escaping it all, go forth and be normal.

But with this article, and her actions that I have seen in the media, it's as if being treated as normal is the very last thing she wants.

For example, there she is, down at the tar pits, her childhood stomping ground, and no offer of a walkabout to the interviewer. Nope, it's off to the Beverly Hills Hotel. That chance to behave and be seen normally gone, and in a strikingly perfect location.

It makes me feel a wee bit for Harry in a way. He wanted the escape, thought he had it, and she is not allowing it. It's like they embarked on a journey together, and she changed the destination on her ticket, and he has to ride along.

And what she is hankering after, possibly demanding even, the Title and position, she gave up. But she can't change her ticket back to the Royal departure lounge from where she and Harry set off.

Yes, I always thought she was a capable woman, which makes the last 5 years quite baffling. That strategy hasn't quite worked out, although to be fair, she's still making the tabloid headlines and getting the clicks on social media.

What are you even talking about with this “9-year siege”? The Middletons had nothing to do with them starting to date. William said in their engagement interview that they began dating after being friends for about a year. They got engaged after seven years together, and they started dating very young.
And let’s be serious: one is the future King and the other isn’t. One started dating as a student, the other didn’t. These situations aren’t remotely comparable.
And you’re calling her an “amazing solo strategist”? You do realize she dated her first husband for seven years before marrying him, right?

Yes & she was. textbook ‘The Rules’ in early H date..’Oh is that the time, I hate to cut our wonderful date short but you see I had another long standing engagement’. Sure she did :) Always leave them wanting more :). Hook, line, sinker.

Screamingabdabz · 20/11/2025 13:35

She can pose in diamond earrings and trot around announcing herself a Duchess all day long. Her lies, her hypocrisy and her lack of integrity speak to her utter classlessness far more loudly.

I think she wanted to ‘win’ at life, having a ‘west wing’ to show anyone who slighted her. To keep the ££ rolling in to live the dream the main, maybe only overarching goal?

Which of us goes to a restaurant & see our own face in the froth of the cappuccino we didn’t order? #winning at life. :)

“We’re in a grand brownstone on the Upper East Side that belongs to one of Meghan’s friends. When I enter, the house manager announces, “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,” even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house.” 😅Unbelievable. What an ego.

What is the point of having a football team of PR/comms people and then having this "Katastrophe" (sweet nod to the Kardashians)?

Meridith has clearly given up at this stage!

PinkPanther57 · 20/11/2025 13:45

I admire that she can have kids on lap during meetings & dive into sandpit etc. I could never focus.

I remember reading everything on the early years too & going on all the courses. :) Then the teen years struck…Let’s hope the kids don’t take after teen H. Nature plays a big hand despite your best efforts. Undeniably though H faced the loss of his mother.

What an horrible thread.

Don’t let it upset you , Meghan is not hated ! , she’s being mocked for yet another unconsciously hilariously out of touch article that she herself wants people to read .
rest assured that she has enough self love to make up for the lack of it from her target audience.

lolly427 · 20/11/2025 13:49

I think she's absolutely gorgeous but completely insufferable. Social climber, embarrassingly unable to ever read the room - 'you are loved' on bananas for sex workers anyone? - no apparent genuine personality - has to constantly tell you how authentic she is - and i agree with a PP, complete and utter narcissist. Harry is her adoring puppy she totes around to give her the supply she needs.
