The royal family

Why does Harry need to announce his visit to Canada ?

Harry has announced he will visit Canada for Invictus events .
The announcement is made while the POW is in Brazil undertaking important official business including representing KC at COP.
His spokesperson says the announcement had to be made at short notice for security reasons !
If this non working royal has security concerns , why announce it at all ?

Indeed I believe the only way he would actually become a US citizen is if his titles are removed.

Just imagine ! Harry with no title but Meghan, and the kids, keep theirs.😁

The kids would but Meghan wouldn’t because her title depends on Harry having it and is just a courtesy.

Does every country send its Prime Minisiter AND its Head of State to COP?

Harry is a private citizen, let him at it.

POW on the other hand is a figurehead (so we're told) and has no input into laws or policies on climate change, and shouldn't have either. That's what we're told. So why is he there? Then again reps of the fossil fuel industry will be there, so why not him I suppose, one in, all in.

And as for COP, well the Brazilians had to cut down a swathe of the Amazon rainforest to make a road in to the conference zone for the delegates. That's nice.

The prime minister tagged along, as for the rest , if you don’t know why he’s there , I’m not sure what the point of explaining it is🤷‍♀️

Well why don't you tell me, I'm ignorant so I need to be told these things. Every day's a schoolday for me. I've no problem with the Earthshot segment, but the rest?

The PM is the political leader. PW is not.

I’m tired and not in the mood, I’m sure some helpful poster will come along and explain it , if you are really interested.

TheDevilFindsWorkForIdleMums · 04/11/2025 17:20

Why shouldn't he ? He's obviously extremely proud of the invictus games and the good ot does.......and he has every right to be.

The question is - why does he have to announce he is going ?
No one is disputing that he has the right to undertake charity work . Clearly he is proud of Invictus .

This is just what Harry does. Everytime another royal has a big event he needs his name in the paper to remind everyone he is also royal.

How on earth can releasing your travel intentions to the press help with security. It doesn’t.

No I don’t think Harry is on the same level as Andrew by any means, but I do wish his titles and Prince would’ve removed so he can live that private life he claimed to want after his 50/50 was denied. Remove all titles for adult non working royals frankly. He can then be just call me Harry. Not forever in big willies shadow.

here ! If people read this it should explain most of the questions, I would also like to let people know this visit is not about invictus, so I’m not sure why people think it is .

Why would you include a lie in your summary of his behaviour?
Meghan was cheering for LA. Harry was supporting the Blue Jays. Meg even said in her post, “Sorry your team lost H, but mine won.”

He wasn’t supporting LA.

That was a quick about face after he wore a Dodgers hat front row, and was roundly criticized by Canadian fans, Harry didn’t even look like he was enjoying the game, he looked utterly bored, like he didn’t have a clue what was going on.

Next SM media post is the one you are speaking about, which was their trolling PR team trying to recover in time for his visit to Canada.

Harry is a loser and he knows it !

I think we all really know the answer to this by now, but obviously spelling it out is not popular with some people 🤷‍♀️

The behaviour is very much what you'd expect of a man who announced his wife's pregnancy at someone else's wedding.

Look at ME.

Or no-one could have titles, they could be awarded once if someone was deemed suitable to represent the UK and was old enough to have an informed opinion and so be in a position to consent. The public could choose who was worthy to serve as our representatives, maybe by a vote? That would stop unsuitable characters sneaking through by accident of birth.

Uh Huh Yes GIF

We vote for our politicians already - have you missed this?

And I genuinely have to pmsl at the quaint notion of "The public could choose who was worthy to serve as our representatives, maybe by a vote? That would stop unsuitable characters sneaking through by accident of birth.". Feck me - if the GBP had to vote for a Head of State instead of having the Royal Family - I can guarantee we would have a President Farage within 5yrs.

StartupRepair · 04/11/2025 19:53

Does Harry think Canadians won't notice that he changed his team allegiance overnight? And does he understand that the Governor General is the King's representative in Canada and that he (Harry) is not representing the King, the UK or indeed anyone when he is there?

I find it generally odd how people can have such strong feelings about something they clearly don’t understand or bother to read about! 🤷‍♀️

Doubtful! We are talking about a man who lost his court case for security, went on tv and complained , then thought his dad could give it to him and finally sent two emails to politicians asking them to give it to him! 🤷‍♀️

We could always put C3 and/or W (although could he be arsed?) into the ring booth too and see how they do.

I'd pay good money to see 'em duking it out with AO contender 😎

Why would they? If we decided on a Republic the Windsor's would simply be a very rich private family.

And we'd be left with yet more regular elections for a new Head of State we'd have to pay for and be left with rich, privileged power hungry leaders.

bluegreygreen · 04/11/2025 21:09

I wonder if the people complaining about having to pay for security for working royals would complain if they then had to pay for security for a new head of state (and presumably family) every four years? It would soon add up, as it does for Prime Ministers!

Quite. I always find these sorts of remarks vindictive. The conflation of the acceptance of duty with the desire for power.

And absent the backing of a political party, as I assume Republic wants a non political, ceremonial head of state, the only people who will run for President of the UK - who can afford the machine to allow them to do so - will be the rich who want to extend their sphere of influence even further. And they will no doubt also get a palace and a summer residence and a helicopter and a jet and loads of tax-payer funded staff and all the other trappings that republicans complain about. But as long as 30% of the electorate can be bothered to get off their arses and vote for them, in elections that will cost the taxpayers millions every 5 years, that's ok.
