The royal family

Why does Harry need to announce his visit to Canada ?

Harry has announced he will visit Canada for Invictus events .
The announcement is made while the POW is in Brazil undertaking important official business including representing KC at COP.
His spokesperson says the announcement had to be made at short notice for security reasons !
If this non working royal has security concerns , why announce it at all ?

OK, perhaps I'm being snarky, but ...
Nothing says how much you're interested in the people you're meeting like keeping your hand in your pocket while greeting them.
This is something he really should know how to do.

Indeed why is his thumb always so close to his sausage?
it seems he is obsessed with drawing people’s attention! And frankly I can’t think of anything worse.

It doesn’t just upstage William. It upstages the prize winners who are trying to innovate for the good of the environment. It shows you they don’t think about anything other than their own images and egos and nasty, petty envies. The little people are only walk on actors in the dramas they constantly create for no good reason. It’s demonstrative of how they were totally unsuited to a royal life, where the royal is there to shine a light on the org/charity/public, not the other way round.

Superbly put, Indianrollerbird ...

And yes, @jeffgoldblum, the very obviouss focus on his and other mens' genitals hasn't gone unnoticed. I thought this was the sort of thing folk grew out of after toddlerhood, but apparently not Confused

Probably just checking it's still there and hasn't fallen off after the frostbite fright 🤓

Not just that.
It's also trying to overshadow the work his father has done for years on environmental issues, especially as William isn't just there for Earthshot but is representing the King at COP.

Have been reading more about Harry's activities.

He was spending time with the Canadian Army Reserves, specifically the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada and the Royal Regiment of Canada, talking to them about balancing military and civilian life, staying connected to their communities etc.
He then watched demonstrations by different operational teams.

This feels a little uncomfortable to me, as it feels much more like an official 'working royal' engagement, rather than something associated with his veteran charities.

Happy to be told my discomfort is unreasonable (ideally with reasons) - it just seems potentially diplomatically tricky to me.

(For those interested in Royal jewellery - the Queen wore her Queen's Own Rifles of Canada brooch to the opening of the Canadian Parliament in May.)

bubzie · 06/11/2025 21:19

Only certain people allowed in though. Relatives are too dangerous.

Why does Harry need to announce his visit to Canada ?

I agree this is weird. My gut instinct is that he invites himself and people are too awed by his title to say no.

Weird considering the actual working royals meet families all the time.

bluegreygreen · 06/11/2025 22:26

That's a different day, and is part of his veteran charity involvement @bubzie, though I agree the 'no family' thing is strange.

bluegreygreen · 06/11/2025 22:28

Thanks @JSMill - glad it's not just me.

I did start to wonder if the visit would have been approved by the Palace, but then thought I was being ridiculous!

Meanwhile, Harry apologises to Canada for supporting the LA Dodgers
