Why does Harry need to announce his visit to Canada ?

Harry has announced he will visit Canada for Invictus events .
The announcement is made while the POW is in Brazil undertaking important official business including representing KC at COP.
His spokesperson says the announcement had to be made at short notice for security reasons !
If this non working royal has security concerns , why announce it at all ?

As an aside didn’t William look mighty fine playing beach volleyball!

I couldn't agree more. The prize recognises that human beings aren't going to want to go back to the days before travel, industry etc, and looks for ways to reduce the harms we cause for the things we want via technological innovation. But of course you'll get the usual snark that William went all the way to Brazil on a plane, shock, horror, hypocrite!

Looks like Harry's planning some more trips to Canada - not just for Remembrance events. This feels a bit ... political? Or at least closer to politics than would be usual.

This is exactly why the titles should be stripped. He should not be interfering in Canadian politics using his royal title.

Absolutely, I think it’s panic stations in Montecito, I bet they never foresaw that not only William will more than likely inherit the throne quicker than anyone would have expected but also that he has more power over them than they ever thought possible, they thought their titles were a birthright and this exacerbated their arrogance, now they will have to live with the knowledge that all their titles can be removed on the Monarch’s say so, even if William lets them keep them in the interim the power will always be in William’s hands, that will burn them to the core.

Of course he has. He likely had an outburst about in stomping around about how it’s HIS MUMMY and he should be the one there.

He seems to like to take ownership of her image and of the grieving son being only him. Creepy how meghan seemingly takes part in some of his behaviour around this too.

And he’s got no chance really, Brazil is much sexier than Canada (sorry Canada) and Harry simply can’t compete with the heir to the throne taking selfies with kids and playing beach volleyball in Rio before hobnobbing with world leaders and giving a keynote speech at COP. And then presumably turning up in full military regalia to take part in Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph when he gets back.

Yes I remember - I suppose it’s possible, but hard to see what the RF have to gain by allowing those two anywhere near them really. The last thing they want is to give them legitimacy, just let them carry on the royal cos play while everyone laughs and pities the desperation.

I didn't totally agree although it did start to feel like the poster was right when Harry's member of staff was photographed talking to Charles's staff and then, later, Harry visited Charles briefly.

I miss that poster! She wrote really interesting analysis.

I miss her too - I enjoyed the insights into a world I know little about. Some of her argument was based on monarchy having a different timeline to celebrity, which makes sense to me.

Edit to add - I could see a future in which Harry is gradually rehabilitated within the family, but i don't think his head is anywhere near that yet.

So long as he is with Meghan , I doubt if there will be any reconciliation.
