News banner from the Torygraph saying Andrew and Sarah are losing their titles. They will be ‘put into Abeyance’ Andrew also to lose the Order of the Garter. Sarah will be known as Sarah Ferguson, he retains ‘Prince’ as he is the son of HM QE2.

Im keen on her, she should have more of a role but then she also has had her moments, didnt she have a few speeding incidents and her dog attacked someone?

Not in the same league of course.

Yes tot he dog issue. Strange isn't it, she has a criminal record, Andrew has never even been questioned.

Can't we find an uninhabited island (sorry to the Scots because it would probably be one of yours) somewhere and stick the two.

And France as a country per capita has more tourists than UK. And I say this because it is always the excuse of why we have a Monarchy...the tourist revenue!!!
No.

Having said that we will not be without a UK monarchy so I want a complete change in how we do it

Just on the tourism point…

I don’t think that’s a fair or scientific comparison. France is 5X the size of Britain with the same population, Alps, other spectacular mountains, lakes, a world-famous Mediterranean coast, vineyards, chateaux, vast tracts of countryside and intact historic towns etc. I would expect their tourist numbers to exceed ours in any situation (patriotic though I am!).

I have no axe to grind here - I’m just making the point that this is a meaningless stat. Who knows? Maybe we’d have even fewer tourists without the monarch? None of us knows.

Pipsquiggle · 18/10/2025 06:53

I don't know them. From what I have seen out there, articles and books from different respected journalists/ authors, over a substantial amount of time (pre-Epstein), Andrew and Sarah are deeply unpleasant people.
Both unintelligent, grabby, wanting all the decadence and grandeur of royal life but displaying no real duty or honour.
It would be great if they could leave the Royal Lodge as well

jumpingthehighjump · 18/10/2025 06:53

On tourism...
I don't think that's right personally, not sure I agree - we have Scotland, and all that has to offer, Northern Ireland, Wales and all the riches of England. Yes France is a bigger country geographically but I don't believe anyone comes to the United Kingdom expecting to have a cup of tea with Charles!

They want to see our history, that will still be here, however slimmed down our monarchy is
Nothing would change if we had no monarchy - in fact I think tourism would soar because more stately homes and royal estates would be open to the public and we would still have changing of the guard and all the pomp just like the French do on Bastille Day

Pipsquiggle · 18/10/2025 06:55

What would be great is if American people took note of what is happening here with Andrew and Sarah and demand the Epstein files are released in USA.
Maybe this could impact on Trump?

Versailles get up to 10 million visitors a year, London gets about 20 million so a single historic site in France gets half the visitors of London to all its attractions, history, art galleries etc.

You honestly need to read the Entitled book. It was completely and utterly gobsmacking.
I have never read anything like this grifting couple. Schmoozing anyone who would pay out, bankruptcies, trying to get money from anyone whoever they were (Epstein), not paying small traders anyone from hairdressers to personal trainers. It was honestly disgusting and it went on for decades

I have never, in all my 72 years, read a book that’s left me feeling sick and disgusted like this one has.
The pair of them, and their daughters, are utterly shameless and repugnant.

Ratafia · 18/10/2025 07:11

Indianrollerbird · 17/10/2025 19:23

Well the police and CPS are supposed to look at evidence without fear or favour. If they don’t prosecute because of other, third party interests, that have nothing to do with legitimate public interest, as set out within their statutory remit, then they are as corrupt as Prince Andrew.

That rather depends on whether offences have been committed in this country. If it was only the US, it's not in our police's jurisdiction.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again. All those poor girls, and all those vile men. And only a woman and a dead man behind any bars. Shameful.

Yes. As a SA survivor myself I had a small celebratory drink last night re this but really he should be behind bars where he belongs.
I hope VGs book will increase the push for justice. There are a lot of men out there still.

As I’ve said before, I’d like to see them carted off in a tumbrel (like poor Marie Antoinette, who I’m certain, was nowhere near as awful) to the guillotine a pillory where the public could chuck rotten fruit at them. Then to be transported to a small terraced house in one of those very depressed areas where people buy empty houses for a pound. I’d allow them UC or similar. I’m sure SF would enjoy dressing up in her old Vivienne Westwood for the occasion.

Sadly I think they’re both too thick to understand how awful they’ve been. I do hope they understand how much they’re disliked, though.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 18/10/2025 07:37

I actually think andrew is just incredibly entitled, and feels he can do as he pleases, when he pleases, due to the fact he is son of a monarch. And Sarah goes along with it and supports him.

my husband worked with him in the navy and his behaviour there was the same, deeply entitled, very self focused, and beleived everyone else was beneath him and should recognise that, commoners.

i really don’t see any other member of his family behaving like that, not publicly. But that’s how he is. He beleives he is superior and has the god given right to do as he pleases.

i recall reading that going home one night he found the gates locked, and instead of driving the few mins round to the other gates, he smashed through them in his 4x4, causing huge damage, it hit the press at the time.

and I think that just says a huge amount about who this man is. I mean who does that.

so I think the root cause is the man is overwhelmingly entitled and has a huge sense of superiority over everyone else, leading him to beleive he was untouchable and had the right to do anything he wishes, and no one or thing can stand in his way,

for sure he and Sarah have brought shame on the monarchy and their own daughters, but I very much doubt he cares, all he will care about is the impact on him. You can even see the pompousness dripping from his statement, he’s never once put his country first, never once, he has always put himself first. But due to his overwhelming sense of entitlement and superiority he just thinks that the things he did was his right,

Henry VI
Edward the Confessor
Alfred the Great

I mean, having sex with other people while married is more ir less an upper class pastime anyway so Im not bothered, but Henry vi was catatonic for years and probably not of sound mind, and Edward the Confessor was probably celibate!

I agree and I'm similar age to you. I had to read and re-read certain parts of the book because it was absolutely unbelievable. I know Andrew was bad but for his ex wife to be equal if not worse was really quite shocking

I am just so so angry at how long it was allowed to go on. I blame QE2 for that. And angry that the royals think they are okay because if they thought they were doing anything wrong they would not be driving them, walking up the road with them grinning, letting them lead a royal party into church which the pair of them did only last year. I don't want to hear but it's a family occasion. They 100% can be there but not front and centre like they have been doing

user1492757084 · 18/10/2025 07:41

That is the decent thing to do. Good.
Focus needs to be off him; he brings an unsavoury flavour.

Andrew is smug, entitled (though no more!) and gullible and he chose extremely poorly his financial advisor but I don't believe that VG tells the truth.

I believe in Andrew's declaration of innocence.

Sarah Ferguson is called Duchess of York by media. Does she call herself that?

They both chose unwisely to keep contact with GE.
That wicked, wicked, clever, charismatic offender and his seriously sicko girlfriend, GM, will never be brought to justice.

We've still got Jimmy and Peter, don't sweat...

Don't sweat! Is that a reference to the man who said he can't sweat?

jumpingthehighjump · 18/10/2025 07:45

Sarah Ferguson is called Duchess of York by media. Does she call herself that?

YES.
She has 70 books to her name entitled by Sarah, Duchess of York. The last one I think came out earlier in the year and she is writing another one, mills and boon

Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison for 19 years, did you not know that?

I think you are absolutely correct about him. However his family must know this. I don't believe he is much of an outlier in the family though. The rest of them know they have to keep the plebs onside to keep the Monarchy going. I think thats the main difference. That and a huge machine of courtiers, PR people and general lackeys round the clock protecting them from themselves.

LancashireButterPie · 18/10/2025 07:49

@Supersimkin7 "Fergie isn't loathed by anyone who's met her".

I beg to differ. I've met her several times and she is not only thick but also condescending and arrogant.

LancashireButterPie · 18/10/2025 07:52

It's also not enough to "strip him of his titles" he should be in prison and stripped of his liberty.

He’d have to stand trial first and with Trump so heavily implicated that’s never going to happen.

Except he has not been arrested charged convicted none of it he has been tried by the press settled out of civil court (which is common for a lot of things) everyone took that as proof of his guilt it's not necessarily true his family could have told him to settle it and shut her up to spare the embarrassment of a trial which was clearly a grave misstep he obviously met her he probably genuinely didnt remember her but he shouldn't have kept denying it after the photo came out

He was badly advised might be guilty we will never know

Bunionbabe · 18/10/2025 08:04

In more courtly, chivalrous times, this is the point at which a true gentleman would lock himself in his study with a bottle of good Scotch and his service revolver.

We will never know because he will never see the inside of a court, as a defendant or as a witness because of who he is. We do know he lied about his relationship with Epstein and we know that he has had relations with some extremely dodgy people, some of whom are suspected spies. We also know papers about his time as a Trade envoy are sealed for 100 years. Why? Just ask yourself what people think of him now. What is in those documents that make it better to keep them sealed than people imagining whats in them?
