News banner from the Torygraph saying Andrew and Sarah are losing their titles. They will be ‘put into Abeyance’ Andrew also to lose the Order of the Garter. Sarah will be known as Sarah Ferguson, he retains ‘Prince’ as he is the son of HM QE2.

The taxpayer doesn't pay. Money comes from the Sovereign Grant and, actually, an amount is returned to the public purse.

And where do you think the sovereign Grant comes from?

They do not work and pay taxes like little old you or me. They have the duchies and the sovereign grant. The sovereign Grant comes from a property portfolio owned by the monarchy. If there was no monarchy it will be attributed to the country and the people
It comes from the crown Estate which is paid to HM treasury and they give back some to the monarchy

Royals do not earn money and pay taxes. We give them the money

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 17/10/2025 22:57

How big is this "an amount"? And how does it compare to the income tax, national insurance etc that the rest of us are required to pay?

Just bear in mind that the sovereign Grant has just gone up 54% from 86 million to 154 million

😳 As an employee of a university my pay rise this year was less than 2%. Nice work if you're born in to the right family you can get it

Quite. The RF has been robbing the nation blind for centuries.

”But tourists ….”.

I don't know what Prince Andrew is like in person, however, I do think that he has been vilified in public. Had he been a "ordinary" citizen and a relative or friend of mine I would feel quite annoyed by the vilification. He has not been convicted or charged with a crime. He has denied the allegations and in law is innocent as he has not even been charged with anything. This trial by media is really quite sinister when you consider that this could happen to others who maybe don't have the protection of living in a home which is very secure. I would be very concerned about his mental health given the relentless press treatment.

What are your thoughts about his failure to distance himself from Epstien and the fact that he felt it was necessary to go and stay with him at his home for 4 days to end the friendship? Then there is the recently disclosed email "We'll play some more soon" the man was a convicted paedophile for heaven's sake and Andrew was talking about "playing" 🤑

And France as a country per capita has more tourists than UK. And I say this because it is always the excuse of why we have a Monarchy...the tourist revenue!!!
No.

Having said that we will not be without a UK monarchy so I want a complete change in how we do it

Revolting and I hope to Christ that this continues to be investigated.

Im keen on her, she should have more of a role but then she also has had her moments, didnt she have a few speeding incidents and her dog attacked someone?

Not in the same league of course.

And she’s a climate change denier

I’m not so sure. More and more people are favouring a republic. Monarchy is archaic.

NewAgeNewMe · 17/10/2025 23:15

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again. All those poor girls, and all those vile men. And only a woman and a dead man behind any bars. Shameful.

Probably a pretty fair chance that, rather than lose a title an ordinary person in this situation would most likely be behind bars.

From what I have read about this book coming out, these allegations are probably set to escalate further, hence the pre-emptive strike from the Palace.

PapardelleFitzgerald · 17/10/2025 23:17

jumpingthehighjump · 17/10/2025 22:41

Who cares? She's still married and entitled to use her title in whatever way she wants.

At least she's not divorced and grifting off of it for 30 years

Edited

And of course Meghan isn't grifting off her title. No, no, no. Absolutely not in any way. The extent of her not grifting becomes clearer with every Netflix deal she signs. She will rely on nothing but her deep well-springs of talent to make her fortune- after all, she had never heard of P Harry until after she had fallen in love with him as a mystery stranger. Grifting off her royal status- perish the thought!

And how do we quantify those that come here for the Royal Family vs those that think they are all twats. Has anyone done a survery to see how many tourists avoid the UK because they think that family is full of racists, bigots, paedophiles and Camilla.

I dont know so much. They will have to shut this all down somehow (it should be investigated by the Police!) and I'm not 100% sure they can at this point.

I dont hate the Monarchy but this is too far, with arguably more allegations to come out.

Just stripping him of a title isnt enough IMO.

Time will tell.

HM King Charles got a £50 Million pay increase this year.

Why is the tax payer giving a Billionaire extra public money when there are food banks?

Britain is broken and the Uk government is no longer bothering to fix anything.

Everything in the Uk is broken, and everything is too expensive.

He didn’t. The Sovereign Grant has been £83 million for the last three years.

I feel sorry for Fergie.

She’s broke, an idiot and she was stuck - the RF left her penniless with two princesses to
bring up and she was easy prey for life’s undesirables.

Happened to the duke and duchess of Windsor, might well happen to Harry - who’s even thicker.

They should have given her a house and a modest income after divorce so she could have started again, rather than be lured into rich n glam-land by freaks like Eppy. And stuck living with that stinky ex.

Unlike Andrew, Fergue isn’t loathed by anyone who’s met her, and she could have been an asset.

Mimph · 17/10/2025 23:31

We don't know the full story, all we see is what is reported in the press, Some of the contents of the emails show poor judgment. The fact still remains that PA has not been charged or convicted of anything, yes he has shown poor judgement in his choice of friends , is that really a reason to vilify. We do not know the full story, some of the reporting is inaccurate, underage in this country is 16 not 18 and that is continually misreported. I have no feelings regarding PA, I do not know him, but if this was an "ordinary" member of the public or my relative or friend I would feel that the treatment in press was excessive and the vilification uncalled for. I would be worried about the impact on their mental health of such relentless attention.

Whaile · 17/10/2025 23:33

I’m so sick of hearing that blah blah is being stripped of X but keeping Y. What the fuck does it mean?? Cut them out or don’t.

Of course they pay taxes.

What I am interested in is the York girls.

So far they have miraculously escaped criticism but I wonder how long that will last. The evidence against their father is looking worse by the day, and Lownie’s book had a few accusations about them personally too - less well evidenced than the muck heap raked up on their parents - but most unsavoury if true. He basically says they happily took money off their father’s dodgy overseas associates for no apparent reason.

You need to read Entitled and then see what you think about her. Eye opening.
