News banner from the Torygraph saying Andrew and Sarah are losing their titles. They will be ‘put into Abeyance’ Andrew also to lose the Order of the Garter. Sarah will be known as Sarah Ferguson, he retains ‘Prince’ as he is the son of HM QE2.

It SHOULD make him understand that most ‘ordinary people ‘ regard his behaviour with contempt . I doubt it will. I think Andrew is entitled beyond belief dnd truly believes he’s is better then the rest of us simply because he was born to HM QE2. He was forced to do this, and is no doubt feeling miserably hard done by in his crumbling mansion .

I’d hazard a guess that since the announcement of Virginia’s posthumous book release the fecker has regained his ability to sweat 💦

Lol.
He failed at the army.
Failed in the arts.
He's probably gay and forced to marry.
And now he steals millions from the taxpayer and gets his taxpayer-funded staff to sort out a few charitable engagements for him so gullible fools think he's working.
Are you sure he's worth several hundred nurses, a thousand carers....

When you want to criticise someone it’s best to know what you are on about first so you don’t look stupid. Too late for you in this case.
He ‘steals’ nothing from the taxpayer.
No money from HMRC goes to the Royal family.
The only thing that taxpayers pay for is the security for the King& Queen and the Wales family , plus security for Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh when they are on official duties.
Any staff the Edinburgh’s have are funded by the Sovereign Grant, which in turn is funded by the Crown estates - so again NOT taxpayers money.

Iirc the Danish Queen removed the titles in order to actually properly slim down the RF and reduce the numbers of people with HRH. It wasnt as some kind of punishment. I doubt Charles will do that, or William, because that would mean his own grandchildren will have to lose their right to a title. It shouldnt just be about Harry. There is an issue with the ' spare' children of the Royals leading an essentially pointless existence that only gets more and more meaningless as they get older. They need to do something about it instead of covering it up and then handwringing afterwards.

Edited

It wasn't a 'punishment' but the eldest grandson was a model and some thought his use of his royal titles for promotional purposes was inappropriate.

Also, only the children of the now King and Queen are HRH. The 4 who had their titles removed were only HHs, without the 'royal'.

I think from now on only the direct line grandchildren should have royal titles in Britain too. It's a bit absurd seeing Eugenie and Beatrice swanning around with Princess titles. At the time of their birth it seemed fine, but the world has moved on since then.

I wasn’t aware there was a competition. The
Duke of Kent had a military career of 20 years. He inherited his title at 6. He’s now 90 and yet to retire, even after a stroke 12 years ago.

The Duke of Gloucester was an architect but had to give that up when his elder brother died young. He’s 81 and his wife is 79.

I don’t know why you feel the need to be nasty about elderly people who could have walked away years ago!

It's not exactly 'retiring' though when your 'job' is to live in a taxpayer-funded castle, being escorted to events of your own choosing, being waited on by taxpayer-funded servants.....It's not being 'nasty about elderly people' to think that the money spent on these ancient scroungers would be better spent on I don't know, contributing to rebuilding Gaza or Ukraine, mental health provision, or quicker cancer treatments on the NHS. It's a no-brainer.

How much are they taxed on their income?

For those of you that haven't read Entitled yet... it you have an Amazon Music subscription you get one free audio book per month. Use it or lose it!

If you've got a Spotify Premium or Family account you get 15hrs of audiobooks per month too. Entitled is included in this and it's less than 12hrs long.

OneFunBrickNewt · 17/10/2025 22:19

You're so wrong. You can dress up the way the taxpayer funds the royals....but it's money that is being diverted from vital public services.
The Crown Estate is £15billion of real estate....that money should be in the hands of the taxpayer.

Agree about both of them. I think they are both bewildered about why they are in this position when they should have just been allowed to do what they like because he was born a Prince.

This is something I would really like to know

For instance Sarah had a property bought for her supposedly by her daughters and she has just sold it I presume for Royal Lodge funding. Is HMRC going for CGT, is she looked out as much as ordinary citizens for tax?
I am just saying this because I've got a worrying bill to pay to HMRC for something that I am disputing and I think I bet if I were Royal I would not be paying this

They have their duchies to manage. That’s why Richard had to give up his career as an architect as he was unexpectedly going to inherit the dukedom.

Perhaps in future it might be advisable to check your facts before expressing your‘ opinion’ on something you clearly know nothing about.

And all Andrew and his former girlfriend Ghislaine have to do is give some statements if they want Epstein’s other pals to face justice.

To what end? I doubt that any court, tribunal or jury would regard them as reliable witnesses.

I agree. Charlottes children wont be entitled to titles as a girl, so Louis children should be brought in line and not have them either. Then if the RF lasts past George continue it just with the direct line. I would say really only monarch and direct heir should have to be working Royals. Let the rest go.

Has anything happened like this before?

Because scandals have happened throughout thousands years of history of rotten royals and idiots and I dont know if they lose their titles. They just plotted in the background in those days

Normally they have "an unfortunate accident" or are "assassinated by a foreign agent".
Like all those unsavoury husbands who once died and now are merely divorced.

MeTooOverHere · 17/10/2025 22:28

Following years of scandal, Britain’s Prince Andrew has made a major announcement over his royal title.
The brother of King Charles will relinquish his Duke of York title.
He will also hand back his honours, including his membership of the Order of the Garter, which is the country’s most ancient order of chivalry.

Edward V and Edward VI were not adulterers
Mary
Elizabeth I and II probably
Lady Jane Grey

Thats about it I reckon

Do you mean Mary I ? Just attended a recent lecture where it was implied through a gender lens that Mary II might have been a lesbian or bi.

PapardelleFitzgerald · 17/10/2025 22:30

OverlyFragrant · 17/10/2025 19:03

She would have remained so until he remarried.

A title confered by marriage doesn't end when the marriage ends or the man remarries: it changes slightly, with the woman's given name preceding the title. So the Duchess of York became Sarah, Duchess of York on her divorce, and the then Princess of Wales became Diana, Princess of Wales on hers. It's a set formula, and only changes if she remarries. It's a point that seems to have evaded P Harry's wife who styles herself Meghan, Duchess of Sussex despite the divorce connotations of this.

BeardofHagrid · 17/10/2025 22:32

They should have been dealt with years ago, they are both absolutely ghastly. I really can’t stand their daughters either. Good riddance.

jumpingthehighjump · 17/10/2025 22:34

As if anyone notices whether the first name comes first or last!

Meghan is quite entitled to use her title she is still married after all

Sarah has been divorced for nearly 30 years and has traded off her title for weight watchers, Wedgewood, writing 70 books, programmes, interviews, guest spots on daytime TV whatever

OneFunBrickNewt · 17/10/2025 22:06

Well I haven't failed in two careers my parents got for me.
I'm married to the gender I'm attracted to.
And I don't have a millionaire lifestyle funded by the taxpayer.
You do realise that the 'work' they do (luxury overseas travel, photo-ops and balls etc) is all arranged by their staff?

People saying Edward is gay are based on homophobic rumours that started in 1980s when he worked in theatre. Of course nobody knows what happens behind closed doors but him and Sophie have been together for decades, and still appear happy.

Unfourtnately he was pushed into the marines by his old man, I doubt he would have signed up otherwise because he was always the more sensitive/quiet soul of the RF and was far more interested in the arts.

Craftysue · 17/10/2025 22:35

I bet the pair of them are still blaming everyone else but themselves. As the father of young girls he was despicable for sleeping with that poor girl and as a mother she's a disgrace for supporting him. I hope we never have to set eyes on either of them again .

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/10/2025 22:36

About bloody time.
Hope it’s not in an attempt to put a stop to any ongoing investigations.

He was cavorting with girls not much older than his own daughters

Whats the purpose of it, what does it achieve or mean?

You’re not being serious, surely?
