I hadn’t read Meghan’s statement after the Balenciaga PR, but I just read her spokesperson said this
“They have worked closely together collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage.”
How absolutely crazy narcissistic does that come across?

“After Meghan Markle attended Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Balenciaga show in Paris last weekend, she issued a grand statement declaring that she and Piccioli had “worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage.”
She added that her attendance reflected “the culmination of many years of…friendship.”
Piccioli’s recollection, captured in a new interview just released on The Cut, is somewhat at variance with Meghan’s; it’s fair to say.
Asked how Meghan’s appearance happened, he replied: “Meghan and I met some years ago, and we’ve been texting ever since. She reached out and said she’d love to come to the show.”
Of course, Meghan, it has been observed before, has unusual ideas about what constitutes a “friend.”
In her Netflix cooking show, she was shown buying several hundred dollars’ worth of books in a bookstore for the child of a mystery “new” friend who turned out to be Queer Eye’s Tan France.
She then prepared an elaborate fruit platter to greet him, but the gestures played, not as generous, but as staged, when, upon arrival, the “friends” greeted each other with a mutual, slightly shamefaced mumbling of, “So nice to meet you.”
The credibility of the show’s central premise—that Meghan is a cool person with loads of friends whom she loves entertaining—collapsed, for me, under the weight of that ridiculous moment: two people who had never met playing lifelong confidants for the sake of 40 minutes of television.
I have long felt that Meghan’s tendency to massively exaggerate the depth of her relationship with various “dear friends” was a liability that was going to trip her up one day—and now, here it is.
I suspect that Piccioli’s cool-to-cold account of his and Meghan’s “friendship” was triggered by that other line in Meghan’s absurd statement implying that they were somehow “design” partners or “collaborating” together.
It sounded remarkably like Meghan, having failed to nail Gwyneth’s schtick, was positioning herself for a crack at Victoria Beckham’s.
Reread Meghan’s statement, and it’s pretty clear that Meghan wants us to understand that her friendship with this great designer has been beneficial to him, because it meant he got her input!
In Piccioli’s telling, a casual meeting resulted in a bunch of texts and a request for a ticket to his show.
It’s an interesting divergence to say the least.
