The royal family

Is Meghan a narcissist?

I keep seeing these reels and social media smears on Meghan being a narcissist and abusive partner to Harry. She certainly doesn't seem overly popular with the royal family or understood the expectations of her as a royal when she married him.

I'm by no means a royalist or a fan of Megan's. But I'm the same age as Harry so always felt I could relate a little to him. I haven't read his book or watched the netflix docs.

The main thing that doesn't sit quite right for me is they wanted a 'private life' and then done anything but. Did Megan use Harry's desire for privacy to isolate him from his family and friends?

She generates headlines & interest.

Yes, Meghan does - but that applies to everything she is involved in. So if she reaches out to you directly saying she’d love to come to your show, why would you pay her? You would save that money to entice someone to your show who won’t come without payment. Meghan clearly doesn’t fall in that category as she asked for the invitation - she wanted to attend.

Except they’re negative and a horrible stench follows her … what Fashion house would want that association?

Quality not quantity headlines are what any luxe brand requires in order to target their customer cohort.

They don’t need acres of content ridiculing their actual products alongside association with non aspirational, tarnished individual with very low public approval ratings. There is no way the CEO will be delighted with this outcome.

I also don’t think that the existing brand ambassadors for Balenciago - Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman et al will be impressed with this stunt.

The whole discussion around Meghan’s hypocrisy in partnering with Balenciaga whilst proclaiming herself a champion of child safety has reignited the story about the ad campaign and brought it to a whole new audience. Which is presumably not the type of publicity they were after 😬

Very true. Triple whammy.

@Indianrollerbird - I missed the bit about betraying her other friend, what was that?

Missan Harriman, Meghan’s old, pre Harry friend and chosen photographer, was vocally critical of Balenciaga’s paedophile inspired campaign when it happened, and then in 2024 said in an interview and on instagram how disappointed he was in his associates for not also being vocally critical of the brand, which never really made account or recompense for what has happened.

crinkletits · 12/10/2025 18:00

Nobody knows who or what she is because there isn’t a person on this forum who’s most likely met her never mind spent sufficient time with her to know her.

If this is how you live your life it must be very very limited!

Such a facile argument. On that basis no-one could have any kind of opinion about anybody who died before they were born. Would kill history as a discipline!

I hadn’t read Meghan’s statement after the Balenciaga PR, but I just read her spokesperson said this

“They have worked closely together collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage.

How absolutely crazy narcissistic does that come across?

the full article………

“After Meghan Markle attended Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Balenciaga show in Paris last weekend, she issued a grand statement declaring that she and Piccioli had “worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage.”

She added that her attendance reflected “the culmination of many years of…friendship.”

Piccioli’s recollection, captured in a new interview just released on The Cut, is somewhat at variance with Meghan’s; it’s fair to say.

Asked how Meghan’s appearance happened, he replied: “Meghan and I met some years ago, and we’ve been texting ever since. She reached out and said she’d love to come to the show.”

Of course, Meghan, it has been observed before, has unusual ideas about what constitutes a “friend.”

In her Netflix cooking show, she was shown buying several hundred dollars’ worth of books in a bookstore for the child of a mystery “new” friend who turned out to be Queer Eye’s Tan France.

She then prepared an elaborate fruit platter to greet him, but the gestures played, not as generous, but as staged, when, upon arrival, the “friends” greeted each other with a mutual, slightly shamefaced mumbling of, “So nice to meet you.”

The credibility of the show’s central premise—that Meghan is a cool person with loads of friends whom she loves entertaining—collapsed, for me, under the weight of that ridiculous moment: two people who had never met playing lifelong confidants for the sake of 40 minutes of television.

I have long felt that Meghan’s tendency to massively exaggerate the depth of her relationship with various “dear friends” was a liability that was going to trip her up one day—and now, here it is.

I suspect that Piccioli’s cool-to-cold account of his and Meghan’s “friendship” was triggered by that other line in Meghan’s absurd statement implying that they were somehow “design” partners or “collaborating” together.

It sounded remarkably like Meghan, having failed to nail Gwyneth’s schtick, was positioning herself for a crack at Victoria Beckham’s.

Reread Meghan’s statement, and it’s pretty clear that Meghan wants us to understand that her friendship with this great designer has been beneficial to him, because it meant he got her input!

In Piccioli’s telling, a casual meeting resulted in a bunch of texts and a request for a ticket to his show.

It’s an interesting divergence to say the least.

You are spot on but perhaps in MM’s defence it’s a phoney, inauthentic world & many in her position do similar all the time. Unfortunately it might suggest if she can bag a billionaire, good ol’ H will be toast in time.

Letmeoutodhere · 13/10/2025 11:29

Well if she can collaborate with the Queen I imagine a designer is small fry! She never learns does she?

prelovedusername · 13/10/2025 11:35

What is clear is that she’s very, very good at building her part, making something out of nothing, creating drama. It’s a real skill and I’ve often thought in another life she could actually have made quite a career out of doing it for other people.

She is a very lucky woman to have found Harry, no wonder she looks at him adoringly.

Ouch ….. it’s so entertaining to see her ridiculous exaggerations and elaborations (lies) catch up with her.

Similar when Graydon Carter (editor of VF) eloquently stated that she’s “adrift on the facts and reality", - he also compared her to vain, spoiled and selfish social climber Undine Spragg (a character in an Edith Wharton novel).

As Ever - grandiose and delusional. Beautiful to watch - poetry in motion.

I’ve met those like her many times, you’re quite right & for that reason ‘luck’ has little to do with her finding Harry & he may even be a mere stepping stone IMO.

CatchingtheCat · 13/10/2025 12:11

Not having followed her at all, I assumed she was actually well acquainted with the A listers who attended her wedding. Of course those Hollywood stars would turn up to a royal wedding but it wasn’t because they particularly knew the bride.

I keep reading about M bagging a billionaire. Really ? She is an attractive middle aged woman with 2 children , a ton of baggage plus a reputation for lying and bullying .
I really cannot see billionaires queuing up.

That made me wonder how old Edward was when he met Wallace Simpson. He was 36 and she was 34 or 35 (no children of course). But hadn’t really thought about Edward’s age before. He was pretty old not to have been married and produced an heir by then as heir to the throne. Wallace also found herself stuck in a marriage she might otherwise have moved on from.

Meghan is beautiful, but she's at least a decade too old for a billionaire IMO.

Saying that, Jerry Hall did get Rupert Murdoch, though that was very short lived and I imagine any pre-nup would only be favourable to the billionaire.

Main issue being that if Meghan ever does remarry she loses her only distinguishing feature. The Title of Duchess.
